| Investigations Summary: | The office of defects investigation (odi) has received 208 complaints of fuel leaks from owners of model year (my)2008-2010 cobalt and my2008-2009 hhr vehicles manufactured by general motors (gm). The fuel leaks are the result of corrosion of the metal fuel lines underneath the vehicle towards the rear and in the vicinity of the left rear wheel well. The corrosion occurs at the polymer blocks that attach the fuel lines to the underbody and underneath an insulation wrap heat shield in the vicinity of the exhaust pipe and muffler. Thirty-nine of the complaints specifically cite observing puddles or drips. Nine of the complaints correspond to four unique VIN's. Odi is opening this preliminary evaluation to characterize the scope and severity of the potential problem and to fully assess the potential safety-related issues.
