Investigations Summary: This investigation was opened on Sep. 15, 1999. It was closed on Feb. 15, 2000. Note: this investigation has resulted in a vehicle safety recall.
Odi has one reported incident where the owner has experienced difficulty while refueling her vehicle. The owner alleged that she was spayed by fuel while she was attemping to fuel her vehicle. Furthermore, the owner alleges that the dealers installed a modified "non-return" valve into the fuel filler pipe to remedy the fuel spit back problem. This investigation is to evaluate the problem experience, scope, and whether a potential safety defect exists. Also, this investigation will examine the circumstances as to why odi failed to receive Mazda's tech message addressing the remedy for this issue.
