Heater core issues lead to inability to defrost windows and excess fog in the cabin.

No heat on the passenger side of car, come from the defroster and heater vents. Only cold air, fine on drivers side. This is the second time.

The passenger side of the heating system malffunction, so the passaenger side windshield does not defrost and it causes a serious visibility/safety hazard during the cold season, the windshield remains fogged up while driving. I have to pull up several times on the freeway to manually scrape frost off the outside of the passenger side and manually wipe the moisture off the interior. The manufacturer is aware of this problem caused due to faulty manufacturing process which left end products that rapidly clogs and destroys the heating system. Dealers who were confronted with complains admits to this. Dodge Avenger 2012 owners complained that they had to replace heater cores and radiators, some as early as 12000 miles and the cost runs from $1200 to $3000. The problem often reoccurs within months because either the dealer uses the same faulty parts or there is remaining residue in the system. Driving in cold weather is not only uncomfortable and unhealthy, but causes a serious safety hazard due to poor visibility through the windshield. There are hundreds of complains in several auto forums. Many reported to the manufacturer and dealers which are overlooked and neglected. Owners who live in warmer climates don't have this problem or these complains would of been more enormous. Dodge Avenger 2000,s should be recalled to fix this problem, or these vehicles should not be on the road during the cold season for safety reasons. Some drivers mentioned having to have a blanket for riders in the passenger side to use while traveling which adds to the hazard. Note: a date entry is required to submit this complain but this is an ongoing problem every fall and winter.

Passenger side defrost vents do not blow hot air, resulting in poor forward visibility due to fog or frost.

My heat all of a sudden stop blowing hot or even warm. I am unable to defrost my car in the vehicle or keep my children and I warm and I am expecting a infant any day. I took the car in for a diagnostic test and was told that the issue was from casing sand clogging the radiator, heater core and the oil cooler. This is a manufactures defect. A flush of the radiator and heater core will not fix this issue. The cost is $1200 and I don't that kind of money right now and it is to no fault of my own. I don't know what I am going to do this winter.

Continuously no heat from any of passenger vents, including the rear vent below the passenger seat for passengers in back seat & a strong smell of anti-freeze when the heat is turned on to the point of nausea, x2 winters now, est. 62,000 miles, may have been that way at 50,000 miles when I bought it, but didn't need heat that time of the year of early spring.

Heater and defroster on passenger side of vehicle have stopped working. Mechanic stated it was due to a manufacturing issue with the heating core and radiator, but Dodge will not cover repair expenses. Lack of defroster on passenger side poses severe safety risks due to lack on visibility, especially during cold weather.

The vehicle was was repaired but continued to experience the failure. The manufacturer has not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 68,000. Dp.

Heater core issues from factory fail because of sand built up in heater core so no heat on passenger side and causes windshield to fog up impairing vission.

I bought the car used and have had it for about 9 months. Everything was working fine, we keep regular vehicle maintenance and the heat stops working the in the car entirely. The vents blow cool air no matter the setting which means the widows do not defrost at all. This is dangerous in the winter time considering I cannot see. I have seen numerous people complain about the exact same problem.

I have been having issues with my horn sounding while driving and took it to the dealership and they could not diagnose the problem. The horn continued to sound while driving at different times without warning and on August 1, 2018 I was driving and it was raining and my horn started sounding and I had my windshield wipers on at the time and when the horn sounded the wipers stopped working for a few seconds and when the horn stopped sounding the wipers began working again. I was driving on a city street at the time. I took the car back to the dealership and they kept if for several days and then diagnosed the issue as total integrated power module.

With heat on cold air blows on passenger side not keeping the widow from fogging over.

Ac starts to only blow cold air on one side of the car, then no heat at all. Defrost stops working at this point. Very dangerous with snow/icy conditions where windshield frosts over. May be the door actuator or heater core.

An independent mechanic flushed the radiator, but the failure recurred. The contact had an extended warranty for the vehicle and was uncertain if it would cover the failure. Driver side receives heat only while defrosting window passenger side is cool air and needs additional intervention to clear window. When heating cabin area once more only driver side receives heat passenger side is cold. Vehicle was in both moving and stationary positions on all occurances and starts off on city streets into highway.

In January-February 2018, my 2012 Avenger rt began to experience insufficient/non-existent airflow and lack of heat to the right-side window defrosters and all passenger vents (except the front-left driver vents), creating visibility hazards and an uncomfortable driving environment for both the driver and passengers. During the following 2018 summer, the air cooling effect and window-defogging was also diminished, especially from the inexplicable reduced airflow coming from passenger vents. The heater/defroster had major difficulty defrosting the windshield and right-side front window. In early 2019, I brought my Avenger to a repair shop recommended by several friends and associates, and the shop recommended a coolant system flush and inspected air blend door actuators, but those were fine. The engine also occasionally ran warmer than usual, however that may have been due to a stuck thermostat which was found during the shop's diagnostics and was replaced. The repair shop stated that the coolant/radiator/heater core flush did remove a considerable amount of sludge. The system flush also seems to be a recommended dealership service action as a "remedy. " however, the coolant/heating system flush had little effect on the heating issue and the right window defroster and passenger vents still had drastically reduced airflow despite the blower and all blend doors/actuators functioning properly.

Heat only works on drivers side part of the time. Have found out this is a manufacturer defect with the heater core. With no heat on passenger side I can not drive my car in the winter. I can not defrost my windshield due to no heat and if I am driving in snow or freezing wet temperatures my windshield w freezes up. This has been a problem I have had since I bought the car in 2018. Took it to the dealership I bought it from and found out it was a manufacturer defect. Filed a complaint with Dodge and was told I would have to bring the car in for diagnostic which would be charged to see what is wrong with it. Have read that many Avenger owners are having the same problems with no real fix by Dodge. It is a heater core defect. Which is over a $1,000 fix that I should not have to pay for due to it being a defect from the manufacturer.

Passenger side window frosts / ices over in winter due to lack of any defroster / vent heat. Heat is delivered normally to drivers side windshield. The lack of visibility through half of windshield in winter conditions creates an unsafe condition.

The heater in the car only emits hot air from drivers side. The passenger side blows cold air even when fully engaged. The cold air coming from heater/defroster causes windshield to ice and/or not clear, and thereby limits drivers visibility through passenger side of windshield. I have to drive slower than normal to be able to negotiate with limited visibility in winter. I therefore present a problem to traffic approaching from behind me also.

The cause of the sludge was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 34,599.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 66,500.

My 2012 Dodge Avenger has heating issue. Heat comes out of the vent on the driver side of the car but cold air on passenger side. I have looked the issue up and alot of people are having the same problem. Why is the issue with 2012 Avenger not being addressed. I can't drive this car in upstate new york in the winter because it is unsafe. I camt see out any of my passenger side windows or right side of dash because it all fogged up and frosted due to no heat in that side of car.

The heater core on the Dodge vehicles clogs easily. The way that clog develops only effects the passenger side heat. In these situations, the heat is available only on the driver side. This will greatly effect the visibility on the passenger side. This is a widely know complaint among all Dodge vehicles.

Passenger-side defroster blows cold rather than hot/warm air causing collection of condensation/frost on the windshield in the winter. This happens all the time, regardless of if in motion or stationary. I'm told it is a partially blocked heater core.

There is no heat on passenger side, including defrost. I live in a cold climate and not having defrost to clear my windshield is hazardous. I was quoted over 1200$ to fix this and told it is a regular issue with this car. The heat on the drivers side has significantly decreased since the lack of heat on passenger side. Knocking coming from passenger side every 20 minutes. Heater not working blows out cold air and now there is knocking coming from driver side as well defroster don't work on passenger side makes hard to see during raining and foggy weather.

Heat and defrost on passenger side only blows cold air. Only 1/2 of windshield frost clears making it difficult to see out passenger side windshield and window for oncoming traffic, pedestrians, etc. When first turning on, passenger side clicks for 30 -60 seconds. This appears to be a comment issue with this car and is a serious safety concern!.

When using climate controls the air on driver side gets hot but air through the vents on passenger side remain cold. In winter the winshield will only defrost or defog one side which obscures vision on passenger side which could lead to an accident and or death as a result.

2012 Dodge Avenger act plus. Stopped heating on passenger side and only defrosts and unfogs the window on the driver side. This is an apparent manufacturer defect that requires the heater core to be replaced as a remedy. I would urge Dodge to do a proper re all before somebody dies due to poor visibility. This, first, happened to my car while driving at night. The window was covered in steam or fog (whatever you call it) and the blower in the dash was not clearing it for proper visibility. I'm glad I did not crash or hurt someone because I could not see. After I pulled off the road and investigated, I realized that the heat was not working on passenger side, it only blew cold air, but driver side was warm air. Not ideal for cold PA winters and I should not have to foot the bill for an obvious manufacturer defect. I hope Dodge will recall this and do the right thing before somebody is killed, if it hasn't happened already. There are endless complaints exactly like this. Step up and fix it!.

I have a 2012 Dodge Avenger with approximately 60k miles. The heat did not work on the passenger side. I have an extended warranty and took it to a Dodge dealer for repair. I was told it was the heater core. The only sign was no heat, no leaks or smells. The extended warranty company was contacted but was told it was not a covered repair, it was a maintenance issue. I only take my car to the same Dodge dealer for all repairs, maintenance services, recalls, etc. . I paid to have it flushed, but that didn't work, so I had to have it replaced and paid $1100. I've read the same complaints from other Dodge Avenger owners. I contacted Dodge several times and each time I'm placed on hold for hours and once I get through, they rushed me off the phone. How could over 100 other Dodge Avenger owners have the same complaint as myself regarding the heater core. The dealer explained to me this is manufacture's defect and it should be a recall. There was nothing I could have done to prevent the heater core problem. This is a safety issue. No heat on the passenger side making it impossible to see clearly through the entire front windshield.

Passenger side heater/defroster inoperative (blows cold air) causing poor visibilty in inclement and cold weather. Began shortly after purchase in sept 2017 and has continued since.

The heater core has failed causing only mild heat on the driver side of the vehicle. While only cold air will blow on the passenger side. With this failure from bad casting sand removal upon manufacturing of the vehicle it has caused the thermostat to fail causing my vehicle to run far below operating temp. Since the cabin space cannot receive full heat it makes for dangerous operating conditions in cold climates as I cannot defrost the front windshield. This has made operating the vehicle during winter dangerous as I cannot see while driving. The vehicle will not provide passenger side heat no matter if the vehicle is in motion or not. While in motion the vehicle will never get to operating temp nor will the front windshield defrost.

Heater blows cold air on the passenger side at all times, and has weak heat on drivers side as well which causes windows to fog up and not be able to be defrosted limiting visibility greatly. It also is very uncomfortable being in the car without a properly working heater.

Ive been reading online that there are many people having the same issue I have with my car. When you turn the heater on the passenger side of the car blows out cold air. If I want the passenger side of my car to defrost I have to manually get out of my car and scrape it and even then the inside still is hard to see out of. I cant even bring my daughter in this car because the passenger side of the car seems like it is running the air conditioning in the middle of winter. There is also sometimes was a clicking noise under the passenger side dash which is the actuator. After replacing this it still does the same thing. I hear that it costs thousands of dollars to fix and I believe it is a manufacturer issue and they should resolve it.
