general problems of the 2013 Dodge Avenger

2 days after purchasing my vehicle I was driving getting my speed up approximately 45 mph when the vehicle started to lunge forward and nothing was under the gas pedal and it stalled. I pulled it over to the side of the road. It started back up within 2 to 3 minutes. Drove fine for about another 20-25 minutes and then did it again. I put fuel treatment in it. It seemed to drive better the next day but then I did it again. I had it towed to a service department where they did a complete vehicle inspection- no codes were thrown $2500 later- picked up vehicle and later that evening it starts blowing smoke out from under the dash- towed back to service department- $300 later- pick car up and she breaks down within 10 minutes- towed again- ,$450 later ---- the vehicle loses all connection and stalls while going 45 to 70 mph- without warning - on the interstate- unsafe for everyone on the road not just the dumb owner. Why is my VIN number not associated to any of the 5 recalls? 3 of which are dealing with the exact issues I am having!!! I have spent every last penny I have on this and still . . . Safety hazard.

Recently bought the car about two months ago and ever since I’ve had it, it was randomly cut off anywhere and anytime and when it cuts off the power steering goes out and it makes it hard to control but I had mechanics that I know personally look at it, and they cannot figure it out no one can figure it out and also the control valve for putting the gas in the car is messed up and I seen that there was a recall for that and as I’m riding down the road, the horn just blows out of nowhere consistently and it could also scare you while you’re driving and that’s dangerous and thank you.

The tipm failed causing the car to shut off and not start again. The problem has been confirmed by upstate auto. There was a recall on the tipm but it was not replaced instead some occupant restraints were replaced instead and now the manufacturer does not make the tipm part anymore.

There are days the car will not start. The engine will try and turn over but never starts. (2) there have been several times while driving the car that the car will just turn off while driving. The car is very difficult to steer to pull it off the road for safety. The car will leave me stranded for at least an hour before it will start again. (3) the heat on the passenger side only blows out cold air. There is no heat on that side. (4) the car will start clicking in the dashboard for no apparent reason. This is baffling cause I have no idea what it is or what it is trying to do.

Car stalls while driving.

Backing out of parking spot car sputtered and died. Restarted but once on road the sputtered and died again. Horn kept beeping itself after car died. Been reading that this is common occurrence in this model. Woth no clear resolution from dealer/manufacturer.

Vehicle stalls while in motion randomly. Vehicle will intermittently not turn over. Horn goes off randomly.

Driving down the road and the power cuts out. Vehicle won't accelerate. Several engine lights come on. Tpm error comes on the screen. I have to pull off the road and turn off the car to get power back to drive.

While driving at hwy. Speed vehicle surged but no warning lights, etc. Next time started, warning lights came on indicating a p2173 code. Car was just at Dodge dealer for recalls. Car will idle fine for a couple of minutes then start surging, idling rough with no power and set warning lights, mil, etc, esc. These will go off when vehicle is turned off except for check engine light. We have replaced throttle body with no change. Cleared code and came back and did the same. Very disappointed that Dodge has not addressed this issue. It is not safe.

While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle started to lose acceleration and the stability control, check engine, and brake warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

While driving the engine will throttle down or cut the acceleration off making it dangerous to drive on the highway. I have to pull over repeatedly to turn off the vehicle and restart it to make it to a safe place to look at the engine.

Under the hood there’s electric tape holding wires together. Which is illegal. The check engine light came on since I got the car. I can’t fill my gas tank to fill cause the check engine light comes on. So it’s at half tank and can’t fill it to fill. My car did stall twice. Then there is hissing under the driver’s front side. The back end of my car feels like is going to fall apart this is a issue since I got the car. I have brought it to the dealership and they did nothing to fix any issues with the car since I got the car.

Engine locked up while making a turn around on busy highway. Made complete car's steering to be locked up. Lucky to be alive and other car did not slam into me. There is a recall for this very problem on this very car, however my VIN was not in the lot of cars for this recall. Managed to move over somewhat, by the time I had tow truck meet me (within the hour) police had car towed. This was 4 weeks after paying 1400. 00 in repairs on other car parts. 3 separate times, car stalled, while driving on busy highway d/t gas gauge stating had gas and really did not. Recall for 2009 Avenger for this problem but not 2013.

Gas is running out fast. Smell of gas heavy.

They had issued 7 TSB on the electrical system, 6 TSB on engine and engine cooling as well as 2 TSB on the fuel system however the contact was uncertain if any of the TSB information was related to the failure. The contact was uncertain if the manufacturer had a remedy for a dealers repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was waiting for a response to get the vehicle repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 138,177. Dyd.

Cold air blowing out of passengers side while drivers side blows hot, and makes annoying clicking sound. And the dash makes the clicking sound even when the car is off! this is a major problem when you buy a car to transport your children now my car won't get hover 35miles an hour check engine light comes on and goes off-can't excelerate some days and others I can.

The trans mission fluid is leaking. The windshield wiper hook up under the hood is broken. The gas cap is broken. I just put on a new alternator on 9/28/2019 and also the engine light stays on.

Brake engages. Engine: not accelerating, strange sound. Just purshaced the car 1 month ago.

There are two existing recalls on my vehicle for the fuel system and the electrical system. I have contacted mopar on 2 separate occasions and have been told my VIN number is not one of the cars affected. I do not believe this to be true and want something to be done.

My car has 70,000 miles on it it leaks transmission fluid leaking oil bad the suspension is leaking on the right la air condition vent every time I put it on defrost it flickers for about 5 minutes even when the car is off the windshield wipers come on by their self anytime only highway seems like when I accelerate the car stalls on me has lost a lot of power I have the whole replaced in it every 3000 miles y'all did it for the first three years now I keep it up it's also leaking water out of the radiator I feel the bottle up about a gallon a week my brakes squeal all time I replace them once and I bought the best they had and they still squeak mainly in reverse after 50000 tousand miles is car has gave me nothing but problem after problem I've almost got it paid for I was trying to hurry up pay it off so I can get rid of it and getting me something else I would like a Dodge truck if they are dependable thank you for your time francis houston author ray jordan jr.

I bought this vehicle on 11-04-2015. After just one day the check engine light came on & obd2 scan revealed air leak in fuel system. New gas cap installed & check engine light continues to stay on. I plan to get the vehicle checked out by Dodge dealership if this issue continues. I would also like to know if there is any way to come back & edit this comment if problem is resolved. Thank you.

This automobile started out misfiring and using a lot of gas ,and we have had it in the shop numbers of times to have the problem fixed know that it getting older the problem has gone from just misfiring to stalling out to jerking at time to a smell of something hot to the gears changing hard also having breaking problems since about 14000 miles the grind real bad had rotors turned and still having that problem today had it checked out several times know we have this problem if we are stopped and turn the wheel to the right or left and take your foot of the break it takes off on it on it jumps all the problems have been reported to Chrysler several times we have been on something called the star program . They tried to give me 500. 00 dollars for my trouble then later they tried to buy the car back for msrp. Which I would lost money know I have attorney to handle this proble this car is unsafe myself and my family at risk everyday until something is done.
