Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated that there had been several progressing failures that randomly progressed with no warning within three weeks of owning the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the instrument cluster flickered with various indicators illuminating, the radio shorted as well as the function buttons, the vehicle jerked several times upon coming to a stop and also stalled several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times and they were not able to replicate and diagnose the failures. In addition, the brakes made an abnormal noise when the contact applied the brake pedal which was getting progressively worse. The contact indicated that there was random hesitation with the vehicle with progressed for several months as well as the vehicle being difficult to start. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked and upon coming back to the vehicle the key fob was used and it did not work to unlock the vehicle. The contact noticed a dark film on the windows, entered the vehicle and noticed the presence of a fire on the interior of the vehicle. The fire department arrived and provided an inspection of the fire. A police report was not filed but the contact had a fire inspection report of the incident. The vehicle was unable to be driven due to the failure. The contact was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 13v043000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was towed to a dealer and was to be inspected by the insurance adjuster to determine how the failure and remedy to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was not be notified of the failure and the contact was waiting to determine their remedy to repair the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000. Dyd.
