2 Starter problem of the 2013 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 05/09/2018

I've had a few issues recently with my 2013 Dodge Avenger over the past year. When my change oil warning indicator comes on, some of my warning indicator lights randomly come on as well. The first few times my airbag indicator light would come on and stay on. When I took my car for the oil change I asked them check the airbags but there was nothing indicating a problem and once the oil was changed the light would go off and stay off. The next time it was the abs & the tire pressure monitoring system; I got the oil changed they checked, nothing was found again. Before this last time, my oil warning came on along with the emergency brake light, as if the brake was up and it stayed on even when I drove, again no problems were found. Last night (5/09/18) change oil warning indicator came on. This morning (5/10/18) I started my car (automatic car starter) went out to my car and my tire pressure monitoring system warning light and my electronic throttle control warning light were lit. I tried to turn the car off and back on, however the car wouldn't shut off right away. When I restarted my car the light indicators were gone. But while driving to work if I were to stop at a light or stop sign my car would idle and feel as though it was about to shut down so I had to put it in park while stopped. Also when I had to accelerate from the stop if I just drove like normal and took my foot of the brake and push the gas the rpm's would go to 7 then drop and my car would shake. I had to take my foot off the brake carefully then drift, and then press gently on the gas until I was able to pick up speed. This is my only vehicle in which I drive my children, please help!!.

5 Starter problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 01/28/2016

I have a 2008 Dodge Avenger 2. 4 cylinder. My starter has been replacing four times in less than forty day time frame, yes that is what I said. The car cut off on me while driving without any warning while I was on the interstate. I have now paid around 1,440. So far now. This is a major safety issue whether or not my VIN number fits the bill, it has happened and has grossly endangered my family to include grandchild and myself not to mention increase the risk of multiple crash. The following are information I have found reason for stalled engines of 2008 doge Avengers . All work done at Dodge service dept. I have receipts from dealership with my complaints about engine stall issues. Please help me. Sincere, thanks major safety issue: resulting in an engine stall or engine failure. The engine stalls while driving it may increase the risk of a crash. Chrysler dealers should replace the tipm module, free of charge. Flash the totally integrated power module (tipm) or replace the occupant restraint control module, as needed, free of charge. September 2008 -- Chrysler is recalling 712 my 2009 sebring, Dodge caliber, Avenger, journey, Jeep patriot, and compass vehicles. A new adhesive used in the power train control module (pcm) manufacturing process can cause the printed circuit board to break. This can cause the engine to stall and cause a crash without warning. Dealers will replace the pcm free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during November 2008.

7 Starter problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 09/11/2012

My daughter was driving home from work at 60mph and all of sudden the radio was cutting off and on and then the car started hesitating and then just cut off. After having it towed home found that the starter was burt up. Replaced starter with new and car fired up and ran for about an hour when the new started that was just replaced also burt. . . This happened two more times. . . The car has been broke for two years now. I have it at an independent mechanic shop with another starter. . . . They cannot find the short in the electrical system thats causing this starter to fry! the car starts fine. . . Idles fine. . . Until you drive it for about 3or 4 miles and then the starter starts burning. . . . I can stop the car when I hear the starter winding and burning and take the key completely out and the starter stays stuck in starting position till it burns completely up. . . . There definitely is an electrical issue that no one has heard of,and very hard to fix.

8 Starter problem of the 2011 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 02/01/2012

The car has a tremendous delay when you press the gas pedal from any speed. This has almost caused me a few accidents already when crossing intersections that have no traffic signals. The vehicle finally reacts after a second or two of having pressed the gas pedal but the pedal is pressed so far by me already that it ends up accelerating incredibly abruptly that is also dangerous. Seems to be a computer issue because the horn also has the same 1-2 second delay before it finally beeps after you press the horn pad on the steering wheel. Also when you go to turn the car on it suffers from a 1-2 second delay before the starter begins to crank the engine over. Its like the computer is soooo slow to react to commands by the driver and this is dangerous when it affects the gas pedal acceleration reaction time and the horn pad reaction time. Please address this since I own this vehicle and will end up selling it if the dealer cant repair this excessive computer reaction issue. When I spoke to a dealer about this they said it was normal to have this long reaction time and it was done by Chrysler for "safety reasons" which made no sense to me that taking away driver control over acceleration is advantageous or "safe" in any way, shape or form. . It has created and put me in dangerous situations already since I don't feel I have control of the acceleration of the car since it does not accelerate immediately when you press the gas pedal. The same applies to the horn delay after you hit the horn pad on the steering wheel, what "safety reason" could that justify this car has to get these issues resolved to prevent future accidents due to these problems. Please look into these complaints.

10 Starter problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 07/01/2008

Car purchased 2/08 with 8999 miles. Immediately there was a starting problem. Using factory remote starting the car would stall after a few seconds. Once it flooded and wouldn't restart without stepping on the accelerator pedal (a no no for this type of injection system). Looked at by dealer three times with no problem found and no fix made. The fourth time we took it in for service they found(now approx. 21000 miles) it but still no code visible from computer. Service writer said we needed a fuel injection service so I said do it. He said it wasn't covered by Chrysler so I said don't do it. He was vehement about it needing to be done and pushed hard for me to pay and I maintained that if it needed to be done, it needed to be done from the day we bought it and now they want me to pay for what should be a warranty repair. Note that it started fine with the key but not with the remote start. Same fuel injectors are used for both starting protocols and for engine to run so which injector could be bad? didn't make sense and therefore was rejected by me. The fourth time they reset the computer which Chrysler covered under warranty and paid the dealer 24minutes to fix. No more problem with the car starting with either the key or the remote starter button. No injector problems now or before the resetting of the computer.
