While driving home from the airport on the highway, my car shut down unexpectedly. My electronic throttle light along with my check engine light came on. My power steering and power brakes seemed not to function as I had to muscle the car to the side of the road. Thank goodness it was late at night and traffic was at a minimum. The car sputtered so bad it shut down on the road after I pulled over. After about 15 minutes, I started the car and limped it home. Couldn't get the car to do more than 10mph. One day as I came back to my car and unlocked my door with my car key button, I noticed the passenger headlight was out. The next day I went to buy a new headlight bulb to replace it, except it didn't work when I tried the new one. I went to a local mechanic to ask what was wrong. He told me it is something to do with the wires and would cost a lot of money to fix it, let alone the part itself. I researched other people complain about the same problem. I have been rejected a registration sticker because it is not safe for it to be out. I also have been pulled over by the cops and was told to get it fixed. I would, but it costs too much to fix. I believe this should be a valid reason for it to be recalled as soon as possible, due to safety of the driver and passengers. I would also like to add the check engine light is also on.

At approx 6pm on 11/11 while attempting to enter the interstate my vehicle began to jerk violently. The check engine light began to blink and the vehicle would not exceed 35 mph. I took the vehicle to a local autozone to have it diagnost. Multiple misfires on all cylinders. I had the spark plugs replaced that weekend because my dealers repair shop was full. Problem still occurred so I left the car at the dealer for them to check the engine. The camshaft sensor needs to be replaced. This is not covered under the 50,000 miles engine and power train warranty because it is not a moving part. I just had to replace both ball joints and upper and lower control arms on the car in June. It is currently at 42,600 miles. The alignment is off again so I'm suspecting the ball joints are going bad again.

This has happened many times before yesterday. While driving on the freeway, the check engine light comes on, and the car go into a "limp" mode (very little power), and even at full pedal, it slowly slows down. Having had it happen several times before, I learned to pull over, and shut off the car, and let it set for a few minutes. Sometimes times this is not easy, or safe to do. Then it is hard to restart, but will drive somewhat better. This allows me to get to a place that I can shut it off for an extended amount of time (1/2 hour), and then it runs more like normal, but the check engine light stay on for several days. After the check engine light goes out, it is running normal again until the next time. So far, this has not caused an accident, but I'm sure somebody will be hurt or killed before this gets recalled. In July 2009 I returned to the dealer for a service, I also complained about the car intermittently not accelerating properly from a stop or near stop, it hesitated dramatically. The dealer could not replicate the problem and could do nothing to fix it. This is still an ongoing issue. Then in June of 2013, while driving on a four lane highway at approximately 65 miles an hour, the car lost all acceleration, a moment later started a warning beep and the check engine light came on. I immediately put on the flashers while trying to maneuver from the middle lane to the shoulder of the road, after a week at the mechanic he called me to inform me that it could be the crank sensor, which was a known issue with this model vehicle. He replaced the sensor and I was informed that the issue was corrected. I didn’t get five miles from the mechanic when the car again lost all acceleration and the engine light came on again. The mechanic towed the car back the next day. He had the representative from Chrysler to his shop several times regarding the issue. The rep thought the computer needed an update and that is what was done, it did not solve the issue. (I was never notified by Chrysler that the computer had updates that were required. ) the mechanic had several other professionals look at the car, all of which were not finding the problem. They also had no new computer codes, which was when they realized the power train control module was the problem. This took a month to solve and the cost was $1130.
Engine stalls on 1. 8l 5 speed manual transmission. Since purchasing in Nov 2006 the engine has stalled over 20 times in various situations. The common factor is when coming to an idol the rpm's will drop to approximately 500 then come back up to idol at about 800-1000. It usually stalls when in stop and go traffic but has stalled in unsafe conditions at least 5 times. When pushing in the clutch to downshift while making a left hand turn across traffic lanes it has stalled. This caused me to loose power steering and forced me to continue to fight the steering wheel, restart the car and shift into the appropriate gear while broadside to oncoming traffic. I have taken it to the dealer twice and most recently told that Dodge says it's the way the electronics for shifting are connected or something of that sort. The engine light has come on twice before and went out the following day. The dealership stated it had stored a stall code. The engine light is back on today.
