36 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2011

I was driving down the interstate when the car deaccelerated and turned off with no warning. When I tried to turn it back on the power train light was on and indicated that it was over heating. It would not restart. Towed to dealer. Called Dodge and they told me to have diagnostics run (my cost). Dealer said there was a recall on the transmission on this model but did not include my VIN #. Diagnostic said nothing wrong. Called Dodge again they told me to take it to another dealer 50 miles away. It will cost me another +100 to get it checked out. My grandchildren were in backseat car seats. I was on I-95 going towards washington DC in rush hour. If I was in the center lane, I would have been hit by a semi and my grandkids killed. Dodge does not care. I am dissappointed as I also own a neon and ram truck. I would not recommend it at all.

37 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2011

The transmission continuously overheats causing the vehicle to lose power. The is no notification other than a light at the time it starts to slow down. At this point you have to maneuver cautiously through fast moving traffic to pull over for about 15 minutes each time. I have almost been in multiple accidents (and almost caused a few) because of the unannounced extreme loss of power. I've taken the car for multiple transmission flushes and filter changes. Nothing works and I'm repeatedly told that many Calibers are having the same issue but the manufacturer has not created a solution. The vehicle has remained parked for the last 2 years. My daughter took it out for a drive today and was stuck on the freeway twice in a 30 mile trip due to the transmission. I cannot sell or use the vehicle for obvious safety reasons.
