The occupant restraint controller must be replaced. The potential loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment capability in such crash events may increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Open recall that manufacturer has not yet found a fix for. The vehicles may experience loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment capability in certain crash events due to a shorting condition resulting in a negative voltage transient that travels to the occupant restraint controller via the front impact sensor wires.
The passage seat belt will not come out properly. The passage has to keep pulling on the seat belt to get to come out and the seat belt sign on the dash board will not go out when the seat belt has been put on and the bell keep ringing while driving.
Specifically, in my model safety belt does not have to be securely fastened (I. E. , clicked in buckle) in order for chime to stop. This is a no-no. In fact, if I hold the unsecured belt in my left hand while holding the wheel at the same time, the chime will stop. If, however, I let it retract slightly toward the window, the chime will come back on. This should not happen. Only when belt is fully buckled should the chime cease. While this does not pose a life-threatening emergency, it certainly is a safety hazard that needs to be further investigated.
Tl the contact owns a 2009 Dodge Caliber. While driving, the seat belt chime was audible when the seat belt was unbuckled. If the seat belt were held approximately ten inches away from the windshield, the chime would stop. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000. The VIN was not available.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Dodge Caliber. The contact stated the air bag warning light remained illuminated. Additionally, the driver's seat belt unbuckled independently. Driver side seatbelt releases itself while I'm driving, front driver headlight does not turn on even though bulb has been changed several times to rule out damaged bulb, rear tag light won't turn on when vehicle is in motion, rearview mirror light will not turn on.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Dodge Caliber. The contact stated that the lower subframe of the vehicle was rusted. While driving various speeds, the body of the vehicle pulled in whatever direction the tires turned. Also, the vehicle was slow to respond when the brake and accelerator pedals were depressed. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that he also received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v668000 (air bags, seat belts). The failure mileage was 142,000.
I have two recalls on my car and no one has contacted me repairs. I have previously filed complaints , but to no avail. (fca case # 31526867 amd NHTSA #10968930). There have been no accidents, but the seat belts aren't retracting like they should.
Dodge recall # s61/NHTSA 16v-668 my air bag started comoing on and off each time with a audio warning, got a mailer "urgent safety recall" "free" repair. Scheduled an appointment ith glendale Dodge glendale CA. Service person said he had to do a diagnostic to verify recall eligibility, repir was made. Then I was presented with a $ 150. 00 charge for the diagnostic (what was free?) and told that the recall was completed but the air bag light and warning would continue, that wou;d cost me another $ 712. 00! the airbag light still comes on and the warning is sounded. My free recall has cost me $ 150. 00 and to complete the repair will cost me an additional $ 712. 00 . I had received the recall notice prior to warning light alarm sounding, so why aren't bot items part of the recall? richard leu.
My drivers side seat belt automatically unlatches itself. I don't have to be doing anything. I give it tug every time I buckle to make sure it fasten. But while driving it will on it's on come unlatched and released. It has happened while driving and just sitting at red light. I immediately refasten it but this has happened enough time to raise concern if I would be safe in the event of an accident.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000. The VIN was not available.
The passenger seat belt will have clicked and you assume all is well. The seat belt buckle will slip loose and the seat belt will wind back up. The passenger seat belt is therefore unreliable and dangerous. This could happen at any time, in motion ect.
When driving on us. 10 in mi at 9 pm head lights went out all other lights work no high or low beams. The bulbs are both good. Also the right turn signal blinks very fast as if there was a burned out bulb but there is not one. This is a 2007 Dodge Caliber. Doessomeone have to getkilled before a recall is forced on Chrysler?.

I have 101,000 miles and was driving about 10 miles an hour in a parking lot. All of a sudden my seat belt unfastened and will not remain fastened. I tried reconnecting it several times without any luck. It will not refasten.
Occupant restraint controller recall. . . The fact that this is not resolved is unacceptable. If they are unwilling to repair, I would expect a full refund for the car.
I have a 2007 Caliber with close to 127k. Ive been experiencing the passenger seat belt not staying latched. You can click it in and pull on it. . . Then randomly it will unlatch itself. How is there not a re call on this issue?.
The air bag light is on at all times and does not go off.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Caliber. The contact stated that NHTSA campaign number: 16v668000 (seat belts, air bags) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The contact received the recall notification in April of 2017. The dealer (five star Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram macon, 3068 riverside dr, macon, GA, 31210) stated that the parts were unavailable for the repair, and that they would contact them when the parts were available. I purchased this car January 26, 2016. 2 weeks after purchase I contacted the dealer because a weird noise came out of the bottom of the car, like a clink. I was told nothing is wrong, that the car was thoroughly inspected prior to sell and according to them, everything was fine. I suffered a minor crash 3 weeks later on the drivers' side front near the tire with my family and seatbelts did not work, nor airbags were deployed. Because the accident happened in tijuana mexico I could not report it to the insurance. I have read that this car has a lot of issues with frame as well, so I feel I was ripped off by the dealer for selling a car that had issues in the first place, and the issue with the airbags had been consistent prior to the issuing of the recal s-61.
The recall describes problems with the occupant restraint controller, air bag deployment, and safety belt restraint. The dealer suggested I call the manufacturer, who told me they had deemed the vehicle safe to drive and to take it to the dealer for an inspection before they would consider giving me a different car to drive while the manfucaturer finds a solution. While checking in my car at the dealership, I was told that recall has 'only' resulted in injury and not death. Anybody want to volunteer themselves or their children? I didn't think so. The dealership employee checking in my car didn't think it was a problem to drive for uber. . . . Really? this is a safety issue and I don't think it's unreasonable to have alternate transportation paid for by the manufacturer until this is resolved. Please contact me so that my family can remain safe while this resolved. I will be sending similar messages to the ag and congressional leaders.
I received a safety recall regarding my 2012 Dodge Caliber, regarding a loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment capability during a crash due to shorting condition resulting in negative voltage transient that travels to the occupant restraint controller via the front impact sensor wires. I received this notice at least 6 months ago and no action has happened yet regarding this recall. Please have this reviewed as I travel my family around in this car and need to make sure it is up to standards. Thank you.
Tl- takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Caliber. I was made aware of safety recall s61/ NHTSA 16v-668 via mail on Monday the 21st and have made multiple calls and emails to the fiat Chrysler automotive company. As of right now there is no firm eta for the repair as parts are not available or in existence yet. They think January but are not sure. I do not consider 45days a "reasonable time" to wait for a safety fix for a vehicle. They have offered to reimburse me for a rental but I am not in a position where I can put out $1,200 per month and await to be paid back for the next several months.

Received notice of loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment in a crash. Repairs made to the suspension, tyi-rod totaling over $1000. 00 in repairs and loss of a car so could not make it to work. This car iis not safe and I am not comfortable driving it with these known recalls. I believe I should be given a safe, camparable replacement. Why am I asked to place my life at risk as well as any one that would accompany me in my car? I am requesting a full refund or a new car. While making a turn on a circle, I car completely spun around. A truck was behind me and I was lucky that time but who knows about the next time????.

I own a 2011 Dodge Caliber with a recall for loss of air bag and set belt pretensioner deployment capability. I do not want to drive my car due to this safety issue in addition to having children in my car. I cannot even get a reasonable trade offer due to this. I am told that the parts my not be available until June 16, 2016. This is a serious danger to my family and a huge financial loss for trade in. Dealerships should at least give maximum trade for this vehicle and they can wait for the repair parts until they can sell it rather than put the public at risk and financial loss due to the lower value of trade to to this situation.

There is a recall on these parts on my automobile and there are no parts available to repair. I am worried and nervous about this possibly failing in my car due to all the past incidents with takata airbags. I would like to have this remedied if not sooner rather than later. This has increased my risk to danger and as a result I am no longer confident in the vehicle's performance. The manufacturer has not provided any timeline on when this issue will be resolved.

Notified in September 2016 of a recall on this car but no remedy at that time was available. As of today, may 6, 2017, there is still no remedy. The parts affected with this recall could contribute to increased risk for injury in a crash. The response time for a remedy is unacceptable in my opinion. Please investigate!!.
What is a resonable time to wait for a car manufactuer to come up with a solution or begin fixing problem?.
My vehicle has had a recall since September 2016. It is now almost may 2017, and the remedy is still unavailable for my vehicle. Not only have I had to drive around an unsafe vehicle, dealerships will not accept my trade because of the nature of the recall. I feel like I am stuck in an unsafe vehicle and I worry every time my family and I get into my car because we are not fully protected if an accident were to occur. Please help!!!.
There is currently a recall on the vehicle potential loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioners deployment during a crash due to a shorting condition. It has been since September 2016 since we received this recall notice and there is still no resolution. There are other issues as well regarding our electrical system in our vehicle. The wiring system for our lights has gone bad and have been recommended to replace the wiring. This vehicle has issues that need resolving and I believe over 6 months of waiting on a fix to the air bag/seat belt recall has been way too long. When checking their website it says no remedy available still. I do not feel safe driving in this car.

The vehicle was involved in a frontal impact crash with a guardrail face. There was airbag deployment but neither occupant was buckled. Seatbelt pre-tensioner fired and pulled the d-ring out of the b pillar. This potential issue did not appear to have an impact on occupant injuries.
The contact owned a 2007 Dodge Caliber. While driving at approximately 25 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal. A bottle was underneath the brake pedal, which caused the contact to crash into the rear of a truck. The air bags failed to deploy and the seat belt failed to retract. The contact sustained unknown injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000. The VIN was unavailable.
I was involved in a car accident on Thursday where I hit a guard rail pretty hard and dead on. At the time I was going 35 mph in the pouring rain. My airbags never deployed. This is very bothersome as I have had issues with this car before not starting all the time when I first purchased the car. I had bumper damage, the right head light was damaged and my neck was sliced by the seatbelt!.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Caliber. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the driver side seat belt independently unfastened and the seat belt warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 107,731.
Seat belts come unbuckled after they click in. This happens with driver, passenger, and back seat seat belts. I have reported to dealership several times, and they tell me they has not been a recall on this. I have kids and my safety to worried about, and I dont know how else to address this before it becomes too late, and it actually happens during an accident.
I was traveling at approximately 40 mph when I lost consciousness due to adverse reaction to a prescribed medication. Approached retro-style pickup truck stopped at red light & because of being unconscious didn't apply brakes to slow down & stop. Frontal crash into rear end of stopped vehicle. Airbags didn't deploy nor did seatbelt engage to prevent me from being thrust forward face first into steering wheel. Incurred significant damage to front teeth & neck/back strain. Was informed by Chrysler corp. That airbag sensors are positioned too low for deployment. Also informed because I did not apply brakes this was cause for both seat belt not engaging to prevent forward thrust into steering wheel and deployment if airbags. Also was told seat belt & airbag will not engage their safety features because I didn't apply brakes creating an inertia effect which would have activated both safety mechanisms. This is disturbing @ many levels 1 how can airbag sensors be positioned so low they won't deploy upon impact with vehicles higher from ground than mine? 2 when unconscious brakes cannot be applied therefore engaging what are supposed to be safety features to prevent injury or death? this whole incident is very unsettling as I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle. These above mentioned failures of safety features not engaging at relatively higher speed impact into rear end of stopped vehicle is not acceptable & should be thoroughly investigated.
Seat belt comes unlatched, quite often.
Seat belt was buckled but became unlatched shortly thereafter.
My passenger side air bag randomly disarms and my driver's side seatbelt comes undone often. Sometime takes 2-3 times of trying to fasten seat belt to get it to secure. Cruise control has also gone out. Love my car, but not happy with all the problems popping up. It is only 4 years old.
The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Caliber. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph she crashed into another vehicle. During the crash the vehicle was destroyed and the seat belt unlatched causing the contact to fall into the passenger seat. The air bags did not deploy. The contact suffered injuries to the left side of her body. The contact had not called the manufacturer and stated that the seat belt shouldn't have unlatched. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 46,000.
Well, I have a few complaints with my vehicle. I have had to replace the same control arm on the front drivers side twice(once at 55,000 and again at 80,000) and have only had the vehicle since 2009. I have complained to the dealership many times about my driver's seat belt coming undone while both hands are on the wheel driving. The service department at parkway told me I wasn't hooking it in correctly but being 26 years of age and always using a seat belt I wonder if I have been doing it wrong all along and if I was, wouldn't this problem happen every time I hooked the belt instead of at random? you would think they would want to fix the problem before they get sued from someone dying from it unhooking while in an accident. My latest problem is with the passenger side window, I was headed to a friends house with the windows half up and when I went to put the windows all the way up, it wouldn't go, it went down, and the passenger side button did not work either, needless to say, I had to park in the parking garage and tape my window when I got home to leave it parked in the street because I only have street parking. Thank you Dodge for making me with I would have stuck with gm.
The drivers seat belt unlatches by itself when driving. After it unlatches this way it sometimes takes a few attempts to get it to lock when latching. This happens within the first 1 or 2 miles of driving. Speed is not a factor. This started as an occasional occurrence, but now it happens almost daily. I am the original owner of this vehicle.
During a recent trip to las vegas, my partner and I rented a Dodge Caliber. We believe there is a serious safety flaw in the front driver and passenger seat belt systems. During our trip we had many instances when our seat belts would come unbuckled. After examining why this was happening we found the problem. If you just buckle your seat belt without looking, like most americans do, you can actually put the buckle into the plastic latch housing and not the latch itself. It feels very similar to when you correctly latch the belt. It will also hold in that position, but obviously not in a car accident.
Front driver and passenger seat belts release without pushing release button or when coming to a fast stop.
: the contact stated the rear passenger seatbelt's latch tightened and would not allow the occupant to be extracted from the seat. This caused minor bruising to a child. The vehicle had the seatbelt replaced on two occurrences by a dealer who determined that the seatbelt was defective and covered under warranty. The vehicle was brought back for a third replacement. The seatbelt could not be used and was removed. The vehicle was not included in any recall due to the VIN.
