With only 38,550 miles on my car (which has been well cared for) I had to have the wheel bearings replaced. When I picked it up, my mechanic (who has been the only mechanic I have used for over 10 years) told me that the ball joints were also totally shot & had to be replaced. After a little research I found out the danger I was putting myself & others in, had him do the ball joints the next day. These 2 parts seemed to need replacement way before they should have. The dealership here (service person/al) told me since I was over my 3 year, 36,000 mile warrenty, (and havent been there in 2 years) there was nothing they could do for me. Immediately after the work was completed by my mechanic, I stopped at the bank. There I saw another Dodge Caliber pull in. While in the bank, I spoke with that driver. She told me she just had the wheel bearings done also. Im not sure what year her car was but it appeared to be newer than mine! whats going on with these cars? shouldnt the dealer have had a little more interest when my actual mileage was only 2000 over the warrenty. They kept pointing out that the car was over 5 years old & only had a 3 year warrenty. To me that has no significance. . . The mileage is what concerns me. I hope others will take note & bring this to the attention of Chrysler before there are related accidents or deaths. I did try to find a number online to call Chrysler, only to come up with sales. . . I wouldnt buy another! please inform me of any actions taken. Thank you.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

2008 Dodge Caliber. While driving at 60 mph the battery charging light came on. Next day took car to auto store to have battery tested and they replaced the battery. Next morning at 2:00 am while driving my husband to work, all lights on panel started coming on one at a time and car lost power and we coasted to the side of the freeway. The car is at the shop today and mechanics are trying to figure out what happened. They noted the battery was bad, but I just had a new battery put in and they stated the started was not bad. What is wrong so I can get it fixed. Also change oil light always comes on even when I have just had the oil changed; which I do every 3,000 miles. The current mileage on vehicle is 57,000 miles.

I have 2 2008 vehicles the first one is a Dodge avenger and the 2nd one is a Caliber. I bought both of these cars from the same delalership new. I have issues with the tire persure sensors in all the tires. They are coroding causeing the tire pressure to drop, are they any current issues or recalls on these type of devices.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

First incident occured in the morning, vehicle stalled and restarted on it's own going around a curve. Later that day in the afteroon, vehicle stalled going around yet another curve this time not restarting. After being towed to a dealership, the pcm was flashed and I was told all would be well. Stalls on off ramp of interstate 30 miles later going 55 mph. Towed again, tipm module was replaced. Vehicle stalls again and restarts on interstate five days later going 75 mpg, dealership claims no problem this time, no codes and cannot duplicate issue after a 148 mile test drive. Stalled again a month later going down a hill at 15 mph, pcm flashed as no error codes were stored for repair at 9,931 miles. 12/08/11 vehicle stalls again going 70 mph on interstate on a bridge over a river with heavy traffic at 10,542 miles. No accident, car will not start for owner with two attempts, turns over once and stalls for two driver on his three attempts. Car started once towed to dealership. Dealership states started for them to pull into garage was was just notifed Chrysler engineers believe the problem this time is a win module. Car has stalled whilst moving now 5 times and has been disabled over 30 days total.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

This standard transmission 2010 Dodge Caliber continually stalls out when the car is in neutral, such as at intersections, railroad crossings, toll booths, and parking lots. It usually takes five to ten minutes of attempts before the car will restart. This poses a serious safety problem because often trucks or other cars driving up behind me barely slow down in time, even though my flashers are blinking. Last weekend I was almost hit from behind by a large truck while I was attempting to get the car re-started at a traffic light. Dodge refuses to attempt to fix the problem unless their computer can tell them exactly what to do. In the words of the Dodge representative, "we don't want to just throw parts away. " Dodge has a private message board accessibly only by registered Dodge owners. The section for Caliber owners contains many posts by other owners and former owners who have experienced this defect on their Dodge Calibers. The car is still under the manufacturer's warranty.

2011 Dodge Caliber 2. 0. . . Has stalled 5 times while driving. . Just stops! the ignition sticks as well. This car only has 1200 miles on it. . . The stalling occurs just while driving - no specific warning. . Just shuts down.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

2011 Dodge Caliber has stalled three times and starter has remained engaged when starting vehicle in the timespan of one week since vehicle was purchased approx. Three weeks ago. Vehicle has been in the service dept. For one week and no resolution has been made.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Dodge Caliber. The contact stated that the back floorboard would become filled with water whenever it rained. No other section of the vehicle would become wet. The failure recurred numerous times, causing water damage to the vehicle and growing mold. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times but the failure was unable to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified and after several failed attempts to repair the vehicle, advised the contact to go to the dealer and choose a new vehicle. However, they later advised that due to the mileage of the original vehicle, they would not provide her with a new vehicle. The failure mileages were 50 and the current mileage was 2,349. Kmj.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

The 2011 Dodge Caliber I purchased had seven (7) miles on it when I test drove it. The vehicle has stalled without warning at the stop light and while in motion. Most of the stalls were experienced after making a turn. It has stalled five times. I have not reached thirty days of ownership. The ignition switch has stuck while attempting to start the vehicle at least eight times. The vehicle has been in for service twice. The dealerships stated they are unable to duplicate the stall or the ignition sticking on the first service visit. On the second service visit, they again reported they were unable to duplicate the stall, but did acknowledge the iginition sticking and reportedly replaced the ignition. The ignition stuck when I started the vehicle to leave the dealership and stalled two days later. I have experienced nearly being struck by approaching traffic as I made a legal left turn and barely cleared the intersection.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

The turn signal stayed on, everything electric shut off, then when I put the car in park and took out my key, the car was still running!! this happened twice and no one can figure out what could possibly be wrong. Then my check engine light went on. The diagnostic test read p0708. I was told I cannot simply fix this sensor, that I would need a whole new transmission. My car is 4 years old and has 53,000 miles on it! how could I need a new transmission, who can afford a new transmission!? the car has been extremely well taken car of, normal oil changes, inspections, I just bought 2 new front tires! this is unbelievable.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

We have been told by our car repair techs that both of our tie rods in the front of the car have gone bad. The car only has 70,000 on it, the first went bad at about 65k and had that replaced. This is not normal and would like this matter looked into. I did more research online and found many similar complaints for that year and model. I have had many cars of different makes and never had a issue like this, not normal at all!.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

Occasionally the vehicle chugs and sputters at stops. Twice the vehicle has stalled at stoplights and had to be put back into park and restarted. Dealer ran diagnostics, but was unable to duplicate, and no codes were found.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

While turning at low speed car accelerated uncontrollably. Air bags did not deploy in frontal crash. Car caught fire.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

My 2007 Dodge Caliber has a water leak that allows rain water to enter the vehicle. The used car dealer I bought it from (had it less than 1 year) said it was a gasket leak in the front fender. I don't know if this is right or not becuase the car's entire driver side floor board has yet to dry out. Vehicle constantly acts as though it is going to stall. This has happened in idle in traffic and when pushing on gas from stop. Sometimes the low pressure sensor oil light will flicker on and the car will start to jerk. Sometimes the vehicle just hesitates for a long time when switching gears. Dealer unable to duplicate this problem. Newest issue - when traveling at approx. 55 mph on the highway, all doors mysteriously unlocked themselves. Very frustrating and inconvenient. . . Dealer does not offer rental or temporary car even though they have my brand new Caliber that im paying for even while its in their possession. The dealer could not duplicate stalling/oil light issue and I took it to an independant mechanic had an oil change done and still did it. Took it back and he couldn't find anything either. Computer not reporting anything and no recalls.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

Ball joints are failing on these cars. This occured around 50000 and again at 100000. I drive mostly highway miles therefore these shoul rarely go out. Dodge did nothing to crrest this and the cost of repair is over $1000.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

I own a 2009 Dodge calibur rt with odo reading 59,300 & my transmission line burst causing $450 in needed repair that is not covered under warranty.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

I purchased a new 2007 Dodge Caliber in April 07. Today, while replacing the tires for the first time, it was found that both lower control arms and ball joints had failed. This causes a very unsafe condition that can cause the front wheels to fall off or create a situation of uncontrollable steering. The tire dealer told me that they had seen numerous cases of this with this particular model of car. Lower control arms and ball joints are not normal wear items, they are steering components that should last longer than a set of tires. After researching this on the internet by googling Dodge Caliber + ball joints, I found many other Caliber owners had experienced the same issue. Dodge has not issued a recall or service bulletin on this very unsafe issue. Toyota was subjected to government hearings, made major news headlines and fined heavily due to throttle sticking. Drivers had the ability to react by putting the car in neutral or shutting off the car but with this steering issue, you may not have the ability to steer the automobile at all. My research shows Chrysler has made no attempt to fix this issue, research also shows you can only get replacement parts only from an authorized Chrysler dealer and when you pay Chrysler to fix it, they are using the same replacement parts that failed without warning in the first place. The car must be jacked up and tires removed to evaluate the ball joints. The ball joints fail so badly it destroys the lower control arms they are mounted in. This cannot be checked any other way. This is a major safety issue for me and my family and everyone on the road with thousands of these cars on the road as well. These are accidents waiting to happen anywhere at any time. There must be a recall on the unsafe steering issue.

Unknown Or Other problem #18

My passenger side air bag randomly disarms and my driver's side seatbelt comes undone often. Sometime takes 2-3 times of trying to fasten seat belt to get it to secure. Cruise control has also gone out. Love my car, but not happy with all the problems popping up. It is only 4 years old.

Unknown Or Other problem #19

I recently purchased this vehicle about three months ago with aircheck. Little did I know I was buying a more defective car than I originally had. About a week ago my a/c goes to crap I ask the dealership to fix it and all he says is I know a guy that can fix it for you for alittle charge. And to top it off the a/c goes out on the hottest freaking day of the month. Then my engine makes this ratteling noise my freaking radio doesnt accept cd's what kind of whole did I get my self into. And for this car to be a 4 cylinder it drinks gas as if it where a v8.

Unknown Or Other problem #20

When turning over the key to start the vehicle, nothing would happen. Turning back the key and trying again would typically result in the car starting. After 2-3 months of this intermittent behavior, the vehicle also began to act as if the key was in the ignition after it was removed (it would ding when the door was opened and not allow me to lock my doors).

Unknown Or Other problem #21

Safety recall k11 on my Dodge Caliber. I received the recall notice over a week ago, made an appointment for this am 7/6/10 at 10:30 am and delivered the car to tacoma Dodge in tacoma, wa. I arrived early and checked in. 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment they still had not started work on my car. The recall letter said 30 minutes to complete the work. I was not appraised that they wanted to work on the vehicle at their leisure. Other Dodge dealers in pierce and thurston counties have refused to provide service in the past as tacoma Dodge was not an "approved" dealer in gm's re-organization and I had bought the car there before the restructure. I had appointments and needed my vehicle back. It had not been repaired.

Unknown Or Other problem #22

I was stopped at red light,I was rear ended at aprox. 45mph by SUV. The car started in fire at rear of car, flames touched to of car inside of car. After emptying a fire extinguisher, fire restarted 5 more times, each time using another extinguisher, fireman finally flooded car to stop the fire. . . Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen? the muffler and gas tank arevery close, and were touching after impact. .

Unknown Or Other problem #23

There is a faulty switch that controls the gear shifter behind my break petal. This will be the third time in four years that I have had it replaced. When the switch goes out, I cannot drive my car - I cannot switch gears. This can happen anytime, anywhere regardless of weather conditions, etc.

Unknown Or Other problem #24

While driving on suburban roads car would lose all power and almost stall, a red lighting bolt would appear on instrument panel. Vehicle taken to dealership throttle body replaced and pcm flashed. Second incident occured about one year later, this time on the freeway at approx 65mph lose of all power almost stall. Car taken to dealer, throttle body was not replaced however pcm was again flashed. Third occurence happend 09/18/11 issue was present in both city driving and freeway driving again taken to dealership and throttle body needs to be replaced and pcm flashed. This failure is highly dangerous due to the fact that is happens without warning on both city and highway driving.
