While pulling into traffic from a parking lot, the car would not accelerate, despite my best attempts, finally after several seconds of coasting and the pedal pushed all the way down, the vehicle jumped into acceleration. During this incident, the check engine light came on. I promptly took it to the dealer, who ran the code and it said p0455 large evac leak. The dealer ran the esim test and vac test with no results. They told me that I probably had a loose gas cap. I had not been at the gas station in days. Also, when the gas cap is loose, an error abbreviation for gas cap shows up in the mileage readout and does not come back on after the cap is tightened. I have never had the incident described above occur because of a loose gas cap. No further work or diagnosis was done on the vehicle.

While driving vehicle in the rain on the highway at about 45 miles per hour in rush-hour traffic, the car began to jerk this lasted for several seconds before the car completely stalled. It restarted immediately. Took to dealer who test drove and found no issues or codes.
While operating the 2008 Dodge Caliber 2. 0l engine at approximately 45mph, the car instantly stopped without applying the brakes. Then the car would go from 7mph to 50mph in a rapid acceleration and then back down to 7mph. This was rather dangerous as I was almost rear ended numerous times despite having my emergency signal flashing lights on as well as driving in the far right lane. The car also experienced excessive back firing and one loud explosion sounded as if it occurred in the catalytic converter directly underneath the car. I was lucky enough to find an auto parts store last night and was able to have the tech there use the odbii reader and it indicated the error p0132 which is the oxygen sensor as the failing unit. The failure of the oxygen sensor nearly resulted in an accident as the Dodge Caliber was almost impacted by other cars in traffic as the other cars were not prepared for the Dodge Caliber to rapidly decelerate from 45mph to 7mph. The part was replaced ASAP the next day with bosch part # 15124 and upon testing for 20 minutes the car operated without error. I called Dodge to inquire about a recall or warranty work and they declined both. In regard to public safety, I request that a case be opened to investigate this situation and others like it. The desired outcome is to have Dodge recall the O2 sensors as this type of failure can be catastrophic when traveling on the highway at higher speeds with traffic.

I recently purchased this vehicle about three months ago with aircheck. Little did I know I was buying a more defective car than I originally had. About a week ago my a/c goes to crap I ask the dealership to fix it and all he says is I know a guy that can fix it for you for alittle charge. And to top it off the a/c goes out on the hottest freaking day of the month. Then my engine makes this ratteling noise my freaking radio doesnt accept cd's what kind of whole did I get my self into. And for this car to be a 4 cylinder it drinks gas as if it where a v8.
The gas pedal messes up it can be at a slight hill or accelerating at a green light. I push the gas pedal down all the way to the floor board only getting slight movement; then the car just accelerates. Other times it acts normal. I took it into a repair shop they said my car was not part of the recall so I paid $504 they said it fine and fixed. The same day of getting my car back it does the same thing so I called Chrysler 800#. They to said my 2007 was not part of the recall and to take it back the repair shop and they would reimburse if recall was extended to other 2007 models. There is an issue with acceleration of these gas pedals. I'm 9 mths pregnant and do not have the confidence that my car will move like it is suppose to when pulling out into traffic.

08 Dodge Caliber se. Just riding down the road . Fuel throttle control module light comes on and car quits running while your driving. I was on interstate. Happened several times. Chrysler said it could be a fluke to keep driving it. Someone going to get hurt. . Luckily I was in a lane, where I could just roll into emergency lane.
2009 Dodge Caliber presented problems at 7,166 miles, brand new. I was driving while suddenly without warning the car stalled. It had to be towed. I took it to the Chrysler dealer for service and I was told the power train control, the totally integrated power module and the evaporative detector systems needed to be replaced. Two weeks later, I had to take the car back to the dealer because of the same problem, while driving the vehicle stalled in the middle of the highway. Then the battery presented corrosion, the dealer made me pay for the services, they didn't honor the warranty. After that the car kept having problems with the new battery that it was replaced by the Chrysler dealer. After that, the car was towed again, it was took to the dealer again and the pcm was replaced again, but the part came in and it didn't work, my car was on the dealer for over 2 months because DE pcm sent by Chrysler was a defective part, so I needed to keep waiting. Another pcm was ordered and they made me pay over 2,000 dollars for repairs; and after two weeks out of the dealer, the car started to have the same problems again. This car was defective from day one, having problems with the pcm, tipm and all the electric systems and detector evaporative system and the Chrysler dealer doesn't want to honor any warranties, and has not been able to fix any problems. This 2009 Dodge Caliber was defective since it was manufactured by Chrysler. It is to risky to drive a car that without any warning stalls in the middle of the highway, it is also a big safety issue, it is dangerous, and the Chrysler and its dealers should be responsible and extend the recall and respond to many customers who bought this car thinking it was a reliable car, with a good warranty that now they refuse to honor. Please investigate!.

After Sunday service, I was leaving out of the church's parking garage, when the speed on my 2007 Dodge Caliber unexpectedly accelerated to a speed beyond my ability to control it before hitting, head on, a pillar inside the garage. This resulted in extensive front damage to radiator, hood,. Fender, grill, fan assembly, a/c lines, manifold, throttle, battery, air condenser, u&l reinforcements, & hood latch damage. The car is still at a mechanics garage awaiting costly repairs. Old parts are still available. Thank god I was not physically injured, just shattered nerves and major inconveniences.
The car started having stalling problems less than a year after purchase. Stalling problems are more common during rainy periods but could happen at any time. Most incidents happen while car is on idle, no movement, in the highway or at a red light. The car will vibrate and immediately stall or try to. Car has been taken to dealer under warranty but no reason for the stalling has been found; car is still under warranty. No recall notice is available at the Dodge personalize website. This car was bought at the military exchange new car sales in puerto rico but apparently was relocate from oconus europe and I am no sure how possible recalls will apply to this car. There is a NHTSA campaign id number: 08v528000 but I do not now if it applies to this car.
While driving on suburban roads car would lose all power and almost stall, a red lighting bolt would appear on instrument panel. Vehicle taken to dealership throttle body replaced and pcm flashed. Second incident occured about one year later, this time on the freeway at approx 65mph lose of all power almost stall. Car taken to dealer, throttle body was not replaced however pcm was again flashed. Third occurence happend 09/18/11 issue was present in both city driving and freeway driving again taken to dealership and throttle body needs to be replaced and pcm flashed. This failure is highly dangerous due to the fact that is happens without warning on both city and highway driving.
