15 Structure problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 07/23/2008

My complaint is not focused on the auto manufacturer. It is directed toward the auto insurance industry, and in particular nationwide insurance based in columbus, OH. I was recently involved in an auto accident, and a nationwide client rear-ended my new 2008 Dodge Caliber. It was less then 1 week old at the time of the accident, and had fewer then 300 miles on it. Nationwide promptly agreed to repair the vehicle by replacing the bumper. However, it has come to my attention that the company's policy is to replace the bumper with a refurbished part, or a part made by a company that may not be licensed or represent mopar, the parts company that supplies Dodge replacement parts. I am very concerned not only about losing value for my brand new car, but also that my safety and the safety of my passengers could be potentially compromised by the use of possibly inferior products. I understand that there is a governing body for these types of parts known as capa, but I also understand that not every part is certified by capa, nor could I find a certified part listed for the rear bumper of a 2008 Dodge Caliber. This is simply not acceptable, and nationwide must replace my bumper (and any unseen damaged parts) with genuine mopar-supplied parts to restore my vehicle to its original, safe, operating condition as it was prior to the accident. The vehicle's engine hasn't even been fully broken-in yet.

17 Structure problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 11/13/2006

My 2007 Dodge Caliber has a water leak that allows rain water to enter the vehicle and the January 8th appointment will be the 4th time at the dealership for this same issue. Water seems to be entering somewhere in the front of the vehicle and settles under the passenger seat. While "repairing the leak" the first time, the vehicle was returned to me smelling like cigarette smoke, the second time, the trim above the passenger side door was not properly replaced, the third time, a panel underneath the dash on the passenger side fell off (apparently was not replaced properly), they glued the rubber stripping on the passenger side door panel making it impossible to remove my satellite radio antenna and the trim above the passenger side door is still not in place correctly (seems to have been forced into place). Also, the person working on my vehicle said he guaranteed that it was fixed after the 3rd time, but it wasn't. Vehicle constantly acts as though it is going to stall when idle and also when accelerating from a stop - when accelerating, vehicle hesitates. Dealer unable to duplicate this problem. Newest issue - when traveling at approx. 55 mph on the highway, all doors mysteriously unlocked themselves. Very frustrating and inconvenient. . . Dealer does not offer rental or temporary car even though they have my brand new Caliber that I'm paying for even while it's in their possession. This is the second Dodge vehicle in a row that we've had problems with - 1st was a 2004 Dodge ram 1500 with stalling issues that the dealer could not duplicate.

18 Structure problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber
