1 Tire problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 05/18/2009

Message: I am writing about my firestone firehawk gta p215/55r1894t tires. They came on my then new 2007 Dodge Caliber r/t. I noted with the dealer on 1/2/09 with 24800 miles, that even before that the tires are making a thumping noice. It seems they are getting even louder. They have been rotated every 5000 miles by me and the dealer and seem to be wearing evenly. I am worried about what would happen at higher speeds?.

2 Tire problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 05/02/2009

In April took car in for oil change and car making noises. Repaired several warranty issues and also rotated and balanced tires. Since then have had a vibration sound and thumping 2 dealers tell me tires are chopped and need replacing first time at around 15, 000 miles and now at 18,000. How can this be. Did have suspension warranty work done in April. Bought car in 7/07 with only 65 miles on it. I have read on several forums that other Caliber owners are having these same issues. I have two children and do not feel safe driving them in the car. Also, the noise vibration level is horrible and you cannot even hear anything other than that noise.

3 Tire problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 07/01/2008

I bought a 2007 Dodge Caliber in Dec 07. Within a few months I started to hear and feel front end noise/vibration. This began under 10,000 miles. They have cut the front rotors ,replaced front strut and sway bar links, all of which did not resolve the real problem. Dealer since , states that the problem is the tires (dunlop) because I did not rotate at the right mileage. I now have 26,000 miles and I won't buy new tires just yet. I have to live with the noise and vibration but Chrysler has to live with the bad reputation that all these complaints is giving them. They will not help resolve this situation and I will never buy another Chrysler product. Why isn't any gov't agency getting involved? it's a !@#$% shame!.

4 Tire problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 03/23/2008

I bought a used 2008 Dodge Caliber with 14,100 miles on it. The tires weren't right from the night I brought it home. I called and complained, the dealership said that they put new brakes on it and to give it a few days to see if it would get better. It did not, I still had a pulsing or thumping noise in the front end. I took it back, they said nothing was wrong with it. I asked about the tires and I was told "the tires passed inspection". I took my car to a friend who rotated and balanced the tires, and was told I had a bad tire, it wasn't round or something like that. The bad tire then went on the back passenger side. I then called the dealership and told them what I did, they were angry and said nothing was mechanically wrong with the car and again the tires had passed inspection. After much arguing they agreed to either put on 4 new tires at half the cost to me or put on another used tire. I chose to have another used tire put on. The car now pulses or thumps on the front passenger side. I didn't get 5 miles up the road and it started all over again. The service manager told me that Calibers are known for "chopping tires" and if I got new tires to make sure they are rotated without fail every 6k miles. I didn't even call the dealership back about the noise. I sent in a form complaining that the noise was not resolved. They were horrible to even talk to, they said tires were not under warranty and the 1/2 off the tires was a one time offer. I like my car but I can't stand the thumping noise the tires make. If the car is known to do this why isn't something being done to correct it?? because I bought this car at a rock bottom price I can't expect to have new tires on the car and I have to basically live with it I was told so that is why I am complaining. I paid a little over $10000. For this car and it is new to me, I still have the balance of the factory warranty left on the car. It's a nice car to me and it is a lot of money to me. I just wanted someone to know.

6 Tire problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 03/01/2008

I have my tires rotated on my car everytime I get my oil changed. Recently, after an IL change my tires started acting funny. I took it back in and the dealer told me my tires were bad. I take good care of my tires and have them balanced and rotated on a regular basis. They told me my tires are all coupling. I have less than 30, 000 miles and I do not believe I should be having to get new tires.
