Headlight Switch problems of the 1996 Dodge Caravan

Two problems related to headlight switch have been reported for the 1996 Dodge Caravan. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Headlight Switch problem

Failure Date: 05/05/1999

Light switch smoked at start-up. Dealer replaced switch and claimed it was not a fire hazard. I contacted Chrysler c/s who also claimed not a fire hazard, but I took switch apart and can see where a printed circuit board is heavily blackened.

2 Headlight Switch problem

Turn signals would work intermittently in hot/humid weather. Sometimes would not work with indicator turned on. Had changed the fuses each time problem happened. Also, sliding door lock does not regularly release with the lock/unlock switch. Further, it is unreliable with the manual lock/botton. The headlights, in hot/humid weather may or may not go off when switch is turned off. Been in contact with dealership.
