Automatic Transmission Cooler problems of the 1998 Dodge Caravan

Three problems related to automatic transmission cooler have been reported for the 1998 Dodge Caravan. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Automatic Transmission Cooler problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2003

Vehicle fire caused from defective transmission system. (under sized transmissions, inadequate sized cooling lines and internal parts) the transmissions did not last over and average of 25k miles and had to be replaced more than once at times. While driving, the dash showed everything being, normal, the vehicle suddenly started to smoke. The transmission was not responsive. The transmission dripped balls of flames.

2 Automatic Transmission Cooler problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2001

While vehicle was inside of the driveway backing out transmission fluid was leaking.

3 Automatic Transmission Cooler problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2001

While on interstate heard a crack. Consumer looked out rear view and saw smoke. Pulled over, and looked under car and saw transmission fluid pouring out.
