Radiator problems of the 1998 Dodge Caravan

Six problems related to radiator have been reported for the 1998 Dodge Caravan. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2007

The contact owns a 1998 Dodge Caravan. After parking and exiting the vehicle, the contact noticed flames rising from under the hood. While inside the passenger compartment, the driver felt heat underneath her feet. The vehicle was towed to a garage and labeled as destroyed. The fuel pump and radiator were previously replaced. The vehicle has not been inspected by a dealer. The purchase date was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 148,000.

2 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2003

I have a 1998 Caravan that the trans cooler failed and filled the engine with transmission fluid, and the transmission with coolant, not able to drive vehicle.

3 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2003

Radiator failed mixing coolant and trasmission fluid leading to transmission failure.

4 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2002

The radiator fan relay is inoperative, a recall has been issued on this vehicle make and model however this vehicle is not include due to VIN.

5 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2000

While driving vehicle came to a complete stop/died due to coolant and transmission fluid mixing together in radiator, and causing transmission failure. Consumer has contacted dealer, transmission specialist has replaced transmission and radiator.

6 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 10/11/1997

Vehicle was parked in the garage, there was fuel leaking from the top of the gas tank which caused a fire. Consumer doesn't want the vehicle back due to the fact that there was fuel coming from the radiator. The fire department came out and they couldn't determine what caused the fire. Dealer doesn't know what caused the fire either.
