general problems of the 2000 Dodge Caravan

While driving 65 mph vehicle stalled. The driver was able to restart the vehicle, and drove to dealer. The mechanic noticed that the idle control sensor needed to be replaced.

While in the driveway the vehicle was in park, the key was taken out of the ignition, the vehicle rolled backwards. The owner of the vehicle had gotten back into the vehicle and applied the brakes, then the vehicle was placed into reverse, there was a loud noise. The owner then placed the vehicle into drive and the vehicle immediately accelerated, went into the garage, and hit the washer and dryer. Owner stated there was no way to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer.

Consumer was parked in driveway in the park position, while turning the ignition, still in park, the car took off in reverse down the driveway across the alley and landed in the neighbors pool.

When entering a highway my van accelerated so fast and made a roaring noise. I tried to brake but it kept accelerating. I put the gear in neutral (noise even louder) and pulled off the highway. I turned the van off and tried to restart it but it would not start. I made several phone calls and after about 10 minutes I got it to start. This has not happened again but I would like to know what would have caused this to happen. Had someone been in front of me there would have been no way for me to have avoided an accident.

Consumer put speed control on average control and vehicle went down to down hill like there was not a smooth speed. Dealership was aware of problem. The vehicle down shifted three times and the consumer was scared it could cause accident.
