2001 Caravan headlight problem. Faulty fcm (bad connections) this is a very serious problem that seems to be getting ignored by everyone especially Chrysler. 5 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

My headlights would not work together. The left one only would work on high beam and the right one only worked on low beam. I found the connector between the front control module and the fuse box to be corroded. I made a temporary fix by cleaning up the connection. I've read on the internet that many people with 2001 and 2002 Dodge Caravans are experiencing the same problem. I know that the NHTSA had investigated this issue in 2006 and I believe that this issue warrants further action by you.

6 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2008

The headlights on our 2001 Dodge grand Caravan alternate working so only one is on at a time. Then all of a sudden they both will work for a day or so then it will go back to just one working. This makes it hard to see at night and we have gotten pulled over by the police and given a warning. I have tried replacing bulbs but it didn't fix the problem.

7 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2008

I own a 2001 Dodge Caravan equipped with daytime running lights. During operation only the driver side daytime running light comes on. When headlights turned on, only passenger side headlight comes on. Only one headlight works at any time. Not enough light to see while driving. It is a constant.

8 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2008

The headlights on my van stopped working due to a problem with a wiring connector by the fuse box. I'm not a mechanic so I can't really explain it better than that. I did some research online and found this is very common in Dodge Caravans and I feel like something should be done to resolve it before someone driving at night on a dark road loses their lights and gets in an accident.

9 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2005

The contact complained about headlight problems. The headlights flickered on and off. The road conditions did not appear to make a difference. The vehicle has been seen by the dealer. Who stated that the reflector in the driver's side headlight was loose, causing the headlights to work intermittently.

10 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2005

Headlights flickering on and off. Suspended night driving immediately. While investigating the problem on the internet, we discovered an ongoing investigation by NHTSA. Due to the seriousness of this safety issue, we've decided to register this complaint in hopes that an expert engineer, either from NHTSA or Chrysler, will have an unadulterated example of the problem to study. Worthy of mention: we have just relocated from wisconsin to tennessee and consider the possibility of that being a factor in the failure.

11 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2005

The incident date that is on here isn't the first time this has happened, this has been going on for somtime now. I am having problems with my headlights going off while I am driving, always seems to be in lowbeam. It is at the dealer now and this is the 4rth time, they don't seem to have a clue how to fix it.

12 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2004

Headlights on my 2001 Dodge Caravan van will turn off while driving the vehicle. There is nothing that proceeds this action and it causes great concern due to limited and/or complete loss of light to safely drive the vehicle. The headlights will suddenly come back on with no action on my part. The time it takes for the headlights to come back on varies. This defect needs immediate attention!.

13 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2004

2001 Dodge Caravan. The consumer states the headlights flicker on and off while driving on the road. Also, the lights will go on and off without the key in ignition switch. The vehicle was taken to the dealership and the front control module was replaced. This was approximately a year ago. This recurred within the last two months. They do not always come back on. The vehicle has been taken to three different dealerships, and they could not duplicate the problem. This happens whether the lights are on or off.

14 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2003

While driving the headlights flickered. Both headlights went off completely while the dealer technician was test driving. The dealer cannot remedy the problem.

15 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2002

For a variety of reasons I have had no occasion to drive the car at night in rain using full wipers until Aug. 28, 2002. At that time I discovered that the low beams provided no illumination in the rain and I had to use high beams. On sept. 5, I discussed the rpoblem with dealer service personnel and was advised it was a common problem and I should go to western auto and get them to install "blue" bulbs. These would help. The same day I called Chrysler customer service and was informed that they would do nothing because the lights meet "specifications". Maybe so, but they are inadequate and this should be investigated. In the meantime I am having "blue" bulbs installed so I can see where I cam going in the rain at night. Ipers until Aug. 28, 2002. The low beams provided essentially no lighting so that I had to use the high beams to see where I was going. I went to the dealer on sept. 5 to complain and was advised to go to western auto and get "blue" bulbs which is what others with the same prpoblem have been doing. I called Chrysler customer service the same day and was informed that they would do nothing as the lights meet "specifications".
