The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Caravan. After starting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the air bag wiring was replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000. The current mileage was approximately 71,000.
The air bag warning light comes on sporadically in the beginning, then it just stayed on as long as the vehicle is running. I took the car to the dealer and they said the clock spring needed to be replaced. It wasn't under the warranty and was informed no recall. I had to pay $301. 00 to fix.

The airbag warning light has come on repeatedly for the past 8 months. The Dodge service dept was initially unable to determine the cause. They have now determined that the steering wheel clockspring has malfunctioned and must be replaced.
