1 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2009

100 % brake failure 2005 Dodge Caravan, customer complained of lower than normal brake pedal, after core brake inspection (pads rotors lines etc) I determined will need new master cylinder (no local stock) customer took vehicle and returned another day with one last stop, then total master cylinder failure , with me driving and rolled in the garages bench wrecking front end parts , sheet metal etc. New Chrysler master cylinder installed all ok , beware Chrysler owners of this problem. It was my first 100% failure in 35 years of working on cars. Something is not right with 100 % failure being allowed. I have old part.

2 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2005

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated the front brake pads were replaced four times and the rear brakes were not replaced. He believed that because the rear brakes were never replaced, it was causing the master cylinder to function incorrectly and prematurely wearing the front brakes. The manufacturer advised they were not aware of any brake issues and would not provide any assistance. They also advised having the dealer diagnose the failure. The failure mileage was 12,000 and the current mileage was 45,000.
