3 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2011

¿I have a 2006 grand Caravan sxt. I have previously owned 2 grand Caravans and 1 town and country. The rear right side door lock does not go up or down unless I manually pull it up or down. . The door does ¿click¿ when I hit the key remote or overhead button, but the door will not open. If I pull the door the knob up manually, the key remote or overhead will allow the door to open and close. I went on the internet and the repair forum indicated that hundreds of the same situation existed with the grand Caravan. No recall existed, but this certainly should have been with this safety malfunction. I was advised to remove the oid fuse and remove the battery cable. While this worked in a majority of cases, it did not work for me. I called Chrysler and was told that it could be the bcm or door lock actuator or door harness. If the ¿harness¿ was broken would the door be able to close or open? I was also advised that this could cost between $80. 00 and $500. 00. Seems like a large ¿spread of cost¿ to me. Certainly not acceptable because you know as well as I do that if they find it to be a fuse, they¿ll charge the top price for repair. I have had experience with dealers before¿.
