Cruise Control problems of the 2008 Dodge Caravan

Two problems related to cruise control have been reported for the 2008 Dodge Caravan. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Cruise Control problem

2008 Dodge grand Caravan. Consumer states when he uses cruise control at highway speeds or any speed at 35 mph the vehicle starts to downgrade and downshift three speed ranges and cause excessive loss of speed and then the engine's rpm would rise to 5000 rpm. The consumer stated when the incident happened, he was unable to shut off the cruise control or apply the brakes to bring the vehicle to a stop. The vehicle would continue to move. The dealer informed the consumer the problem was a characteristic of the vehicle due to software problems.

2 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2009

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that while driving 70-77 mph when setting the cruise control, he noticed that it would not operate and not set when the lever was pulled down. The vehicle had not been inspected by a dealer nor had it been repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.
