Body problems of the 2016 Dodge Caravan

Six problems related to body have been reported for the 2016 Dodge Caravan. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2020

The passenger sliding door will not open. It appears to be an issue with the locking mechanism. One day we parked and locked the car to get ice cream and when we came back the door wouldn't unlock.

2 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2019

The driver's side passenger door is stuck in the locked position. The door will not open manually or electronically.

3 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2019

"takata recall" sliding door on drivers side won't unlock or open (not automatic open door, manually open) tried using the door unlock pad the key fob and the lock in the door and it still doesn't unlock or open. My 1 year old sits on that side and I am worried this is a very huge safety issue. If I were in an accident I would not be able to get to him quickly. My 3 year old sits on the other side and so now we have to climb in to unbuckle both children to get them out. This is dangerous if an accident were to happen. I've already replaced the other side when that agitator went out on it. My van has 32000 miles. Bought it new in 2016. Should not be having these safety issues. Please look into Dodge and the reports that people have filed who have this same issue. It should be a recall and fixed. Thank you for your time.

4 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2018

Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that the rear passenger sliding door would not open and is stuck on lock. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the door was jammed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was not avialable. The failure mileage was 67,297.

5 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

I own a 2016 Dodge Caravan and the drivers side sliding door lock is stuck between the lock and unlock making the door unable to be opened. It was taken to the dealership and I was told the door lock or lack would need to be replaced and the repair would cost $900 (and due to mileage was not covered now by the warranty). The door is still unable to be used and causes a serious safety concern if in an accident due to inability to get out of the vehicle on that side. When the defect was identified the vehicle was parked and has been overnight. I attempted to use sliding door control on key fob which didn't work and so attempted to unlock door with key fob to open it manually and that didn't work either. I got inside the vehicle and attempted to unlock the door manually and that was unsuccessful. Additionally, sliding door control on front ceiling (allows driver to open and shut both sliding doors) attempted to be used and was also unsuccessful. This appears to be a problem that multiple Dodge Caravan owners are experiencing and needs to be addressed ASAP.

6 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2017

2016 Dodge Caravan only 14000, mile. Driving approximately 40 to 45 miles per hour on the highway. Hood latch bolts ( only two ) came fully out ,allowing the hood to open , smashing into the wind shield , making it impossible to see ahead due to the hood blocking the view.
