Unknown Or Other problem #1

I just purchased this van (used) yesterday and this morning the power locks stopped working. They responded neither to the key nor to the switch on the door. They only work manually. Come to find out, through my own research on the internet, I guess this is an serious issue wit this particular year Caravan.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

Power door locks stopped operating. They cannot be unlocked with the keyless entry, nor can the be unlocked by the driver's or passenger's power buttons. As time has gone by, we have been manually locking and unlocking the doors, but now those are even getting harder to unlock manually. . . . It is as if they are becoming stuck shut.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that a loud humming noise would emit from the rear of the vehicle when driving at various speeds. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired, but the contact felt that the failure was related to the wheel bearings. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 34764. The humming noise would go away sometimes then come back.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

The doors will not lock/unlock with the key automatically nor will the doors lock when driving as they normally do. The car "beeps" so you think the doors are locked but they are not. The first few times it occurred, we removed the fuse and reinserted. Eventually this "fix" worked only briefly. This failure is unsafe for personal safety and also for property in the car. This is a common problem with 2005 Dodge Caravans.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

Deer ran ito van front and side impact . Travleling at 40 mph /air bag did not deploy . Extensive damage to van.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

The sliding doors locked and will not unlock or open.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

The valve stems failed. . Nuts for both front valve stems rotted off causing valve stems to fall into tires losing all tire pressure within seconds. . This happen with both front tires at different times. The first time I lost pressure the light came on so I stopped at a gas station and went to put air in the tire and the valve stem fell into the tire losing all pressure immediately and I was left with a flat. Aaa came and put on spare and said the nut on the valve stem was gone and said it looked like it corroded and fell off. The second one while I was driving the vehicle. . . My children and I could have been killed if I didn't pull over immediately! the mechanic said the same thing that the nut was missing and the valve stem actually was broke in half. This should be an immediate recall on these valve stems! the Dodge dealership refused to replace them and said I must have done something to them! please note I still had the original tires on this vehicle from purchasing it brand new at a dealership in 2009. I can't believe the treatment I received from the Dodge dealership.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

I was driving on the interstate on a cool fall day on a smooth paved interstate, with noone around. I heard a noise like something flying off my car. Not being too concerned as my car was driving fine, I continued driving and arrived at my destination. After getting out of the van, I noticed the entire red cover on my rear tail light- driver's side- had completly fallen off! obviously since I wasn't ever in an accident and didn't run into anything that day, it must be a manufacturer's defect. I have found other complaints online in regards to this with the 2005 Dodge Caravan. As I'm on a tight budget, now I have to spend a lot of money to get this tail light fixed so I can pass my vehicle inspection that is due. Not very happy with Dodge right now!! thank you for investigating this report. I appreciate your time and hope this complaint moves further to a recall.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

My power locks stopped working about a month ago. They will work manually but will not operate with the remote or the power lock button. Tried disconnecting battery and then re-connecting, tried remedy in handbook (turning key in ignition 4 times on and off , without actually starting it, and then depressing the power lock switch) which worked for two days. This is a safety issue!!! the locks are designed to automatically lock when reaching speed of approximately 20 mph. It does not. This is a safety issue!! why doesn't Dodge admit to this problem and provide a free software upgrade! many people are experiencing the same problem. Google it, it's there plain as day! is Dodge hoping the problem will just go away by itself? this is a safety issue! fix it!.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

Direction asiste( power steering).

Unknown Or Other problem #11

2005 Dodge Caravan has a safety problem with the multi- functional switch. It causes the headlights to go out for no reaso9n. This is extremely dangerous. I was on a dark country road and the headlights would not stay on. They would go out completely and at a speed of 60 mhr it is very dangerous. I read on the internet blogs that this seems to be an ongoing problem for 20058 Dodge Caravans. Why is there not a safety recall on this?.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

Year and half ago we received a recall letter from Dodge concerning our 2008 Dodge Caravan, reference to the front brake pads. Its seeems the brake pads were defective due to early wear out. The recall pads were replace by scott evans Dodge according to service manager with a pad that more metal in the composition of the pad. Now a year and few months later , I took my car in for front end realignment and scott evans is saying the brake pads that replaced the recall pads are now showing early wear out and should be replaced!!!!!! how is this possible, my car only has 31687 miles on it and now brakes pads are being replaced twice. My concern is the pads they put ont to replace the recall pads were also defective due to early wear out also. Being this deal with vehicle brake please investigate and found if Dodge is replacing recall pads and possible defective pads due to early wear out also. My wife and are in our late 50's and do not travel alot nor are our driving habits our of the norm. The miles on the car refect this. Please investigate rick page.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

Front crank seal popped out causing oil to pour out.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

The engine on my 2010 Dodge Caravan shuts off while I am driving. It has happened 4 or 5 times in the last 15 months. I have usually been driving at a speed of 35-45 mph. Since the power steering shuts off, I cannot steer to the side of the road. I have to push the braked really hard to come to a complete stop and turn the key to the off position. I then have to restart the vehicle. I am very concerned about driving on the freeway and having passengers in my vehicle. I have taken it to the dealer twice for this problem and since they cannot re-create the incident, they cannot explain why it happens. There have been no modifications or repair attempts made. I found a similar recall online Chrysler recall number l02, but when I called Dodge/Chrysler, I was informed that my vehicle had not been recalled for this reason, although others the same year and model have been recalled. I was advised by a person at Dodge/Chrysler to take my vehicle to the dealership with a copy of this article to see if they can figure out what the problem is. I am taking the vehicle tomorrow.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

Front crankshaft seal pops out of place causing oil leak. Chrysler memo says replace engine or install repair kit from Chrysler. Oil leak lead up to this problem being discovered.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

Strut tower corrosion.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

Serpentine belt came off. I have had this vehicle since 2002, problem didn't occur till mid-2010. Since then the belt has came off at least 5 times or more. Seems every time it rains. I've had the belt replaced, and everything else replaced that could possibly affect it. The mechanic told me he don't know anything else to do. I had it repaired this past tues. And guess what yesterday it came off again (all of 5 days). I love my vehicle but I'm afraid of it. When the belt comes off everything goes off. Luckily I've been able to get off the road (so far). Looked on the internet and this is a common problem. What does it take -someone to die before a recall will happen and a solution?? this is very costly in repair bills/tow bills and so forth. Please do something.

Unknown Or Other problem #18

When the vehicle had only 12000 miles my front tires were completely bare (like racing slicks). Was taken to 2 dealerships and they looked at the van and found nothing wrong that would cause the tire wear (alignment was fine). I fought and fought with Chrysler to pay for them, which they finally did about 3 weeks after the problem was addressed. Now my vehicle has 15000 miles and while driving all you can hear is noises (almost like road noise but its from the front end). Most likely, wheel barings, ball joint, tie rods etc. On 10/21/11, while pulling out of my driveway low and behold what do you here, nothing but the sound of griding brakes. No sign of brake having a issues the day before when driven. This particular van that I purchased brand new (with 2 miles on it) clearly is a lemon and has faulty parts or something majorly wrong with it. None of these parts of the vehicle should be going at this amout of miles. As always, Chrysler and its' dealers say there is nothing wrong with the it.

Unknown Or Other problem #19

Horn stopped working. Horn fuse is good. Air bag warning light came on and has stayed on.

Unknown Or Other problem #20

While driving in city traffic, I felt sluggish acceleration from a stop light. The next stop light the brakes felt hard, and again acceleration was slow. After a few minutes of driving I smelled my brakes burning and I took the car in to the closest repair shop. Smoke was pouring out of both front wheel wells. Brakes locked, pads and rotors burnt, master cylinder not allowing fluid to return. Master cylinder replaced with front pads and other work. Exact same problem occurred 15 weeks later. Different shop. Replaced abs unit. Same problem encountered 8 weeks later after minimal driving. 2nd shop fixed the problem, but no write up because he fixed for free. 1 year later, same problem. Brakes locked, brakes burning, brakes smoking. It sits in my driveway as I try to determine what to do about this car.

Unknown Or Other problem #21

The problem lies with the transmission that came installed in the 2006 Dodge Caravan. I am having a problem accelerating as low as 10mph on up to 65mp. It is not quick to accelerate. At times I feel as though there may be something wrong with the engine. I feel as though the car may have a hard time accelerating or like it may stop running or like it may explode. It is a hazard to my health and alarming to my kids as I use it to transport them to school. I have brought it to the dealerships' attention. I have looked on the internet only to find the problem with the transmission is not just my problem. It has been the problem of many other consumers. I have contacted Dodge dealership only to find because I was not the original owner who purchased the vehicle I am not able to have it replaced under the limited powertrain warranty which covers the transmission. I purchased it in October-November 2009. It had 39000 miles on it at the time of purchase. It has always rode hard. I am finding although it is a 4 cylinder engine, it takes alot of gas. It is costing me a great deal as a single parent who uses this vehicle as my primary mode of transportation for myself and my 4 daughters.

Unknown Or Other problem #22

The passenger side sliding door will not unlock using the key or the driver or passenger door's electric unlock button. The manual button on the door also will not unlock the door. I have not be able to open the door for over a month. I have seen suggestions on the web of taking out and then put back the iod fuse, but that did not work.

Unknown Or Other problem #23

My wife took our 2008 Dodge Caravan in to have her key replaced and abracadabra @ tomball Dodge, in tomball, texas. The service manager told , my wife that everyone inspected her brakes , and they agreed that her brakes wear and tear were do to her driving habits, and she needed to replace her rotors only on one side. She was told that she is using her right front brakes more often than her left front brakes. When I confronted the csmgr she told me alot of people brake one side more than the other and it was more common than I thought, but they would fix both sides and make them even again , if she had the work done there today for 10% less the cost of the new pads and rotors. Remember, my wife was only there to get her key replaced, and we were very lucky the technician detected the right handed braking issue, while driving the car into a noisy shop his super keen hearing was able to detect both sides. The brakes, were repaired at a local shop a few weeks ago, the parts in question were bought from tomball Dodge, they have yet to comment on the right handed braking issue and its commonality.

Unknown Or Other problem #24

I have a 2005 Dodge grand Caravan with only 50000 miles on it. While driving the vehicle, the gauges on the dashbord will intermittenly start blinking off and on the speedometer bounces from left to right. The gas gauge bounces from empty to full. Sometimes the car's ignition kills while driving. The electronic doors will not open or close with using the remote or manually. I have also smelled smoke from time to time. I have researched this problem via the internet and have discovered that alot of people have this same complaint with there Dodge grandcaravan. In these vehicles the body control module seem to be the culprit. The failure occurs everytime I have driven the vehilce since 10/2009. I have my vehicle at a Dodge dealership who is fixing everything but the problem. I fill like I am being scammed. I am sure that this is not the first time that the dealership has seen this problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #25

First it was the emergency flashers went on and couldn't get them to stop took it in to folsom lake Dodge to get it fixed it was still on factory warrant and they replaced the clock spring is what they told me. Then after that after the warrant was done the air bag light on the panel in front of the stirring wheel came on and wouldn't stay off it comes on most of the time and stays so I don't know if my air bags or on or off. Now yesterday my door locks wouldn't work unless I do it manually but I can't get the back gate to lock around here you need to keep the doors locked removed the battery cable and it working right now but ready about it I'm not the only one has this trouble. I feel the is a manufacturer problem here can you let me know what can be done to get this fixed I fell this is a safety issue. And it needs to be fixed. I got my van when the 2005 first came out March 2004.

Unknown Or Other problem #26

Today after I loaded up my family into my 2005 Dodge Caravan I started to drive off to head to the store. After driving a couple of feet I realize that I have a flat. While I was loosening the lugnuts so I could take off the tire, two of the bolts that held the tire in place snapped while they were still attached to the lugnut. I also noticed that was already a bolt that was missing from the drum. Therefore, now I only have 2 working bolts on the drum and both of them look pretty worn. The vehicle I have was purchased not even 2 years previous from a car dealership. I was also told by a friend of the family who owned a 2003 that they had the same problem with the bolts on their tire drum.

Unknown Or Other problem #27

I own a 2002 Dodge Caravan se, with roughly 115,000 miles on it. I was driving down the highway at the posted speed limit of 55 mph. The weather was fine, not particularly windy or anything of that nature. All of a sudden, I heard a loud popping sound. I looked in my rear view mirror just in time to see the passenger-side back window imploding into the back of the van. It was the very back side window, the one that is able to be vented manually. It was not vented at the time of the implosion. I had not seen any projectiles sailing through the air that could've hit the window. I had not seen any cracks or imperfections in the window. The biggest problem I am facing is that this is the 2nd time glass has mysteriously broken in the vehicle. About a year and a half ago, the back windshield shattered when I got into the van and shut the door. In that instance, I was parked, and the vehicle hadn't even been turned on yet. In that case, at least there wasn't flying glass inside of the car. I am officially frustrated (and terrified) with this problem, and am very happy there wasn't anyone sitting in the back of the van when this happened. This happened 4 days ago, and I have not yet gotten it fixed. I am currently exploring different avenues to express my distrust and anger at this situation. I also do not believe this had to do with a driving error committed on my part. I would like this to be resolved, ideally with Dodge replacing my window free of charge. Thank you for your time.

Unknown Or Other problem #28

2000 Dodge Caravan sport's ignition would not turn when correct key was inserted. Was stranded for 2 hours in the pouring rain, in the middle of a severe thunderstorm with the windows down because I could not turn the car on.

Unknown Or Other problem #29

Water leaking onto the passenger floor board and carpet of our 2006 Dodge Caravan and in researching regarding our situation, I found that other year models that were built had an improperly installed part in the heating and cooling system causing this matter that is apparently a manufacturer issue and other year minivans had been recalled because of the risk that a water leak in the air conditioning system could trigger the airbags, risking injury to passengers. I just want the vehicle fixed properly as we had noticed a potential issue two years after the vehicle was purchased, but at the time it wasn't leaking bad, well it has gotten worse, saturating the passenger floor, when the a/c is on and in fla we utilize the air quite a bit. Please let us know where we stand, as Dodge corporation is saying there's no recall on our 2006 model, but the problem is the same as what others have been reporting.

- the contact has a 2004 Dodge Caravan with an odometer reading of 68000 miles when the spare tire would not release. The contact experienced a flat, and when he used the wrench to crank down the spear for the first time ,the tire would not release. The contact stated that he even used a crowbar to help loosen the tire that did not work, so he had to drive on the flat tire to get help. The contact took the car to the dealer, who told him that he needed a new spare tire hoist assembly. The contact also called the manufacturer, and was told the car was out warranty and they would not cover the cost of the repair. Updated 02/06/07.

The wheelchair accessible ramp completely detached from the vehicle while in use. There were no injuries occurred. The fire department and police were called ensure the safety of the occupants. The vehicles were returned to the rental company and another vehicle was provided. The replacement vehicle showed signs of brake problems; squeaking was heard while applying the brakes. The vehicle was returned to rental company. On another occasion, a hanicapp accessible vehicle was rented from the same company in another state which had oil in the enigine. The contact expressed that the company does not maintain or inspect the rental vehicles provided.

Unknown Or Other problem #34

1996 Dodge Caravan, paint is peeling on the top of the van and also on the sides.

Unknown Or Other problem #35

In June, 2005 I purchased a 2005 Dodge Caravan sxt. In doing so, I traded in a 1999 Dodge Caravan se. I did not notice until about 2 weeks ago, that the instruments (left & right outside mirror controls, head light switch, and dome light switch) on the left side of the steering column did not illuminate when the head lights are turned on. After taking the vehicle to the vendor from which the vehicle was purchased, I was told that the 2005 Caravan did not illuminate the instruments on the left of the steering column. My 1999 Caravan did. By not illuminating the instruments on the left of the steering, in my opinion, creates a safety hazard. If the need for an adjustment to the left or right outside rear view mirrors, or the dome light control needs adjusting at night, the instruments for doing this can not be seen, which will create a safety hazard. It is suggested that Chrysler corp. Recall the 2005 Caravans and install an illumination light in the dash behind the aforementioned instruments. You attention to this safety defect will be greatly appreciated.

This car has been nothing but problems. First I have had it to dealer 3 times with leaks which I find is currently a recall. Then one cold winter it started to make a loud reving noise from first start starter was replaced still does it dealer claims they cannot hear it. Then I have had several belts repaced due to squealing sound upon starting the car. Squealing is still there. They cannot hear it. Now I am having a vibrating sound in my steering and it sounds as if the steering is about to go. As other complaints have indicated. Is this car safe to drive?.

Unknown Or Other problem #41

Poor gas milage 13miles/gallon.

Unknown Or Other problem #42

This started about a week ago and is intermittent. The speedometer sticks on a number usually between 0 and 10 mph, but the vehicle is going much faster than indicated. It bobbles up and down and then seems to function okay. It's going to the dealer this week.

Unknown Or Other problem #43

The clock spring assembly that is housed in the steering column has failed due to a known design flaw. The assembly controls the deployment of the driver side airbag, the cruise control and the horn. As a result of this failure, I have an airbag notification light that stays on and both the cruise control and horn do not function. This specific item is the subject of a recent recall, however, my VIN# does not appear on the list of vehicles the manufacturer has determined prone to failure. As a result, I am liable for identical repairs without the benefit of redress.

Unknown Or Other problem #44

This is a report of a design defect in the Dodge Caravan. After discussion, Chrysler corp. Has not admitted any issue and there is no recall applicable. The problem is the fact that the right front strut tower (supports vehicle) is rusting through. This is more than cosmetic and should not happen at any vehicle age / mileage. Ultimate failure will allow the right side of the vehicle suspension to fail with potential loss of control and loss of life. Even though this component has not failed completely on my Dodge Caravan, I wanted to make sure that the safety implications were understood and studied. Thank-you. Dt.

At present we are without a car for 8 days this time. The car has been into the shop 9 times for the same problem. This time because we are in arbitration the dealership says that Chrysler wants them to try a few more things. They are not telling us what is wrong with the car but say that the are trying what the technicians are telling them to do. Last week we were told that a technician was going to come down and look at the van. On Friday we went to the dealership and were told that they were going to do this over the phone and that we could absolutely not have the car. They have our car and we are paying $50 a day.
