The above vehicle was a rental vehicle being demonstrated to me to show the amount of rear luggage space available. When the rental representative was demonstrating the rear seat stowage system he inadvertently released what appeared to be an unnecessarily strong rear row seat back release spring which kicked the seat back down hard and fast enough to hit me in the head, scrape and bruise my face and head, damage my glasses, knock me to the floor of the van and and cause a concussion, which I was treated for in the hospital emergency room. A significant concern of mine is that the doctor and a nurse in the hospital said that the apparent force with which the seat hit my head would have seriously injured a possibly killed a small child. From my vantage point as a retired engineer with 40+ years of experience, there is no reason to design a seat back that will close with that level of force with no added impetus. This appears to be a serious design flaw of which owners and the manufacturer should be made should be made aware. I do have medical records, photographs of my head and a note from the rental company representative admitting that I was injured. Photographs of my head and medical records can be supplied if needed, but are not presently on my computer.

Noticed that around September 1, 2004 that the designed seat of the second row seats hinge in the front seat locks on the back. When locking the seat it appears that they are lock. But, in reality, they are not locking in the back of second row seat. There is no indication that the seat is not properly locked. When children are in the seat and its is not locked it will rotate forward. The row in front features a hard plastic handle that if the children would hit would cause even more damage when not properly locked down. This happened with the consumer's child in the vehicle, and the entire weight of the seat was on him. He hit the back front seat, and this broke teeth. Contacted manufacturer and they just complaint.

After my accident the back seat had popped off the track and was no longer attached to the car. I was almost stopped and the man who hit me was doing maybe 30 mph. I brought it up to the Dodge dealership in my area and they said that it shouldn't have done it and they don't know why it did but the seat is back in place so dont worry about it. I called Dodge the company and they told me since there was no major property damage or no injuries or fatalities they weren't going to check out why the seat popped out. Dt.
