Failure Date: 05/26/2025

The contact owned a 2022 Dodge Challenger. The contact stated that while her son was driving approximately 65 mph on I-85 in the left lane, the driver noticed a BMW quickly approaching. The driver attempted to change lanes to the center lane, and the rear end of the vehicle slid out and the vehicle fishtailed into the other vehicle in the far-right lane, traveled across three lanes of traffic and crashed into a brick wall median and then went across all three lanes. The contact stated that after crashing into the brick wall, the seat belt became unlatched. There were no warning lights illuminated. The driver sustained injuries to the wrist, which had struck the steering wheel, and the left hand which struck the door on impact. Medical attention was provided at the scene by the emt and at the hospital the following day. The steering wheel air bag, driver's side side-curtain air bags, and passenger’s side air bags deployed during the crash. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The insurance company later towed the vehicle to a tow lot. The local dealer was contacted and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and sent an investigator to inspect the vehicle. The inspector determined that the driver’s seat belt was not latched during the crash after performing six push-pull tests on the seat belt. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

7 Seat Belt problem of the 2021 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 08/17/2021

My seatbelt seemed a bit faulty when I purchased the car. It was slow to retract and at some points wouldn’t retract unless I played with the seatbelt. Three years in to owning the car it still won’t retract fully and is at the point where it won’t come out to a safe distance that allows me to wear my seatbelt. As for the electrical defaults, there are times when I am driving and the display, between my speedometer and rpm dials, turned off. So would my center display, yet my radio continued to play. There were no warning signs or signals when that would happen. It is always random.

10 Seat Belt problem of the 2013 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 03/27/2020

I bought this car for 11,000 in September of 2019, since having this vehicle I had and have many issues with this car. October my stero touch screen stop working and my gas tank needed to be replaced. I got it fix for over 500. 00 the following month my key fob sensor went out and this was the in the month of November. The vehicle is a Dodge Challenger supposed to be an sxt on the car fax but in person the motor is not a sxt this vehicle has no original parts of Dodge. The Challenger has aftermarket wires, headlights from asia, and wires every by the motor where open wires should not supposed to be witch is unsafe to drive off the lot. The Challenger airbags plus other mechanical mechanics issues was reported from brandon Dodge dealership witch qld was aware of and did not resolve the issue before selling me the Dodge charger even my seatbelts is unsafe. The month of January, 2020 I was driving my car on the interstate and my car just shut off I had to drive to autozone I got a new battery that same month I approached the manager of qld and informed him with everything that's going on with the vehicle the manager responded that's a personal matter and I was left on my on to care of this car that I can not afford to fix a and pay for monthly vehicle that is not reliable. March 27, 2020 I was driving from my apartment complex and my power steering pump fell out of the bottom of my vehicle I later on that day got the car lifted and to found out the power steering pump was zipped tied and not secured to a bracket. I feel that this company is just looking for a dollar and do not care about what type of dangerous unsafe hazardous vehicles they are selling to customers who are unaware of these issues.

14 Seat Belt problem of the 2011 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 03/26/2018

The driver side seat belt will not extend. It is stuck without any slack. I am not able to put on the seat belt to drive. Big saftey hazard. Nothing happened that caused this to happen. The seat belt worked fine the previous day. The car was parked in front of my house as I tried to put on the seat belt but it wouldnt move. Its not safe to drive because an accident can happen at anytime and there is nothing preventing the driver from hitting their head into the steering wheel or flying through the windshield. My car is only 7 years old. I feel that the manufacturer should fix this issue at no cost to the owner of the vehicle.

17 Seat Belt problem of the 2016 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 06/09/2017

The car started doing a rear wheel hop in second gear change as already reported to Dodge. Dodge has offered to replace the car prior to the accident via a mr mike macdonald. This wheel hop was previously reported to 3 Dodge dealers who said this was "normal". On the offer to replace the car I was told to continue driving the car until the replacement came. I should have not taken that offer. The car almost killed me. The air bags did not deploy. The seat belt did not restrain me, as my head slammed into the steering wheel. Multiple cases of air bags on these cars not deploying has come up in google searches. Both driver side tires ruptures when the car went sideways for the second time after what I can only imagine was the throttle being stuck. I can provide images later after the hospital of the tire hop marks. Dodge should be held accountable for selling a coffin on wheels. Oddly, mr. Mike macdonalds phone sends me straight to customer service now.

20 Seat Belt problem of the 2012 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 07/02/2016

I just bought my car 7 months ago from locklear. Current mileage on it is about 43,000 which puts me right outside my warranty. I haven't had any problems with it until recently. I noticed when I would unbuckle my seat belt that it would tend to get stuck in the buckle. A few days later I'm leaving my house to drive to town and my seat belt wouldn't click into the buckle no matter how hard I tried. I check out the buckle and apparently the piece inside of it broke and now I can't buckle my seat belt at all! this is a huge safety concern because I always wear my seat belt in case of an accident and it's a costly ticket if I get pulled over. I called my dealer and they say the cost of just the buckle alone was 200 and the labor would be expensive too because it will take more work to take the seat completely out. Total is nearly 350 just to replace a buckle! unfortunately I don't have that kinda money to spend so I can't get my buckle fixed or wear a seatbelt :(.

21 Seat Belt problem of the 2011 Dodge Challenger

26 Seat Belt problem of the 2011 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 07/12/2012

On July 12, 2012 while detailing the inside of my car in order to reach some areas that I could not reach through the trunk I was pushed the front seats forward so the rear seats would drop down by design and was in an odd position to start with, and had the seat belts on the driver side rear pushed out of the way. While working on the detailing they slipped and managed to wrap me up around my chest and neck (it happened so fast I could not get out of the way). As I struggled to free myself they refused to relax and continued to tighten up no matter how much (what little slack I had to give) so that I could pull them back out. I reported this very same problem but not to the same level with my 2007 Dodge ram front belts, and Dodge did not take action. In order to free myself I had to use a pocket knife that I had in my pocket that after some slight relaxing I was able to reach to cut the belts and free myself. Chrysler has refused to address this, and denied my warranty because I cut the seat belts to free myself. I fail to understand this logic as it was my only choice to get out of the vehicle. This is nothing new to Dodge and has been discussed on numerous Chrysler product related forums on the internet, all of which when they were contacted they refused to act on the matters. A seat belt should only lockup when a hard forward motion stop is made, not in a stationary setting as it did in my Challenger trapping me.

27 Seat Belt problem of the 2011 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 03/22/2012

My 2011 Dodge Challenger was in a head on accident. The impact push the motor under the dash, cracked the transmission, crumbled the front of the car almost to the windshield. The Challenger has an air bag on the seat, well that air bag; nor the air bag on the windshield pillar or the steering wheel or passenger air bag deploy. Not only did the air bags fail, but the seat belt did not lock to restrain a person from avoiding injury. This is my second Challenger, my first Challenger had a bad paint job and this one could of cost me my life. I have the vehicle, awaiting for Dodge to inspection the defects. It has been 5 days and I have yet to hear from Dodge nor are my calls being returned.
