So this is not about an actual incident that occurred but is more so about about an issue with a manufacturer ive uncovered , being a mechanic and working primarily on Dodge vehicles ive noticed at least for the last 2 years of modules the part numbers they list for their car line have not had the correct modules in them , in my own case I needed a module for my own car ,ive bought 2 from junkyards using Dodges own service library and the cars vins they came from that were once on the road and both cars had the wrong module numbers , I have since ordered a brand new module using the exact part number from a dealership brand new in the box and that module is also not the correct part number. . My concern is who else is driving these cars from at least the last 2 years with the wrong module in the car, I have read all 3 modules using witech Dodges own software and all 3 are not the ones that are supposed to be in them. . I also know there are 152 on backorder of the correct ones that should have been in them with 0 being made. . . Im not really one for conspiracy but this is kinda crazy. I know for sure that things like vehicle weight and stuff are programmed into these and the wrong calibration of that alone could easily cause the system to not function as designed causing crashes that could have been avoided if the system were functioning properly , the part number in question should have been 68399772ae,68399772af and if they ever get a supplier for the latest revision they list that part number is 68399772ag, the supersession they list is from at least 2021 model years forward so it may have been even longer but I only have proof for the 23 year cars. The cars affected are Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger and Dodge charger all trim levels as far as I've seen should have 68399772ae and none do. The file uploaded is a picture of a brand new 68399772ae out of the box and what was actually in the box. I have more of junkyard car modules that also weren't correct.
My brake lines melted to my exhaust manifold due to manufacturer defect and manufacturer cannot get the part to fix it.

Not starting, brake peddle hard to press down ,would not start vehicle, afraid this will affect stopping when driving.
Rear backup camera will sometimes either be distorted or have a black screen while in reverse. This is a safety hazard as Dodge Challengers have large blind spots and makes it difficult to see when backing up without the rear camera. This has almost caused me to hit another car and pedestrians as it's hard to see them due to the blind spots and not having the assistance of the camera. While driving in the rain, the front windshield will have streaks across the whole window, making it very difficult to see while driving in the rain. Windshield wipers have been replaced several times but issue continues to happen. The breaks will shake when breaking. This causes the car to not want to break at times. I have brought my car back to the dealership on several different occasions for this issue and all they have done is resurfaced the rotors and have changed the break pads and told me that there is nothing else they can do and to break more aggressively as there is a film on the rotors causing the car to shake when breaking.

The abs system has failed on my 2014 Dodge Challenger sxt and has caused major electrical issues within the vehicle. The abs part/computer module (part number 68210118ab) has been on back order for months with no estimate of when the part will be available from a Dodge/Chrysler/ram/Jeep dealership. I have been without my vehicle for 4 months because nobody has this part available. This is a major issue affecting many vehicles under Dodge/Chrysler/ram/Jeep. My safety was at risk because while I was driving the vehicle, every single light on my dashboard appeared and my brakes stopped working. Thankfully I was leaving my neighborhood and was only going 15mph. The key fob is not detectable, the windows will not roll up, and the vehicle cannot hold a charge while in drive. There was an abs warning lamp on prior to this all happening.

I pulled car out of garage after a week and hear a pop. Drive had a severe wheel shudder after about a 1/4 mile returned to my house. Examined wheels the disc brake pads both sides had broke/crumbled and partially stuck in rotors. Pads are now crumbling. Car has 1200 miles bought new in August 2023. I never in my 46 years of driving and collecting cars saw anything like it. Went on Dodge forum and see similar complaints with pictures of exact same problem something is wrong and it is extremely dangerous given the weight and horsepower of these cars.
At less than 1000 miles on the odometer, my brakes were seizing up after the car was parked in the carport for a week without being driven. When I would go to back the car up, the brakes were stuck. After they popped loose and I started driving down the road we heard a clunking noise. Upon inspection, we noted that some of the front brake pad material [semi-metallics], both left and right, had broken off of the pad and adhered to the rotors. If I had continued driving the car like this, it would have etched a very large groove into the rotors. A brand new, very expensive car, should not experience issues like this. Had I needed to replace the rotors, it would have cost over $1000. We replaced the brake pads to ceramics to keep this from happening again. Since doing so, I have had no issues. I have been on forums and this is not a one-off. Others have experienced the same issue. The brake rotors themselves were rusty when I took receipt of the car after ordering it from a dealer.
On several occasions while driving the vehicle would would appear to lose power and the front wheels would shake. After turning off the engine and restarting the car the problem resolved itself. It was taken to the dealership and they said they could not replicate the problem. Two days ago it did the same thing along with the passenger side front wheel heating and smoking. It was towed to the dealership again. The technician called to say that when he got into the car the brake pedal went to the floor and wanted to know if happened the day before. He was advised the pedal was fine and the brakes were stopping the vehicle. He said the brakes were worn down and the entire brake system needed replacement. There was no issue reported with the brakes on the previous inspection at the dealership in December 2022.

The contact owns a 2019 Dodge Challenger. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound when the steering wheel was turned. The instrument panel would also get very hot. Additionally, the contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the driver’s and passenger’s side tires were worn. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the VIN was not under recalls. The dealer diagnosed that the instrument panel overheated and burnt the connecting wires. The instrument panel was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was relating the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19v758000 (service brakes, tires, wheels). The failure mileage was 40,000.

2012 Challenger srt8 tipm is this issue and there is no recall for this, while it should due to being a major part of the electrical system that controls all aspects of the safety system. Also now I am being told Dodge does not make this part any longer. . . . How is that possible. This is a recall for other Dodge models, why not mine.

My car keeps going from 60 or however fast I'm driving to smoking tires and my car is halted causing me to almost wreck way too many times.
My mileage time ometer keeps jumping from 56000 to 68000 time belt. My car is fairly new. This vehicle should not be doing this. The break I use to start the car nearly starts it. The breaks is not connected to the fuel pump correctly.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Dodge Challenger. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the vehicle independently accelerated up to 46 mph with an unknown warning light illuminated. The brake pedal was depressed and slowed the vehicle as designed. The vehicle was taken to star Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram (5101 s 1st st, abilene, TX 79605 (325)-698-2222) where it remained unrepaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000. The VIN was not available.
My 2014 Dodge Challenger dies when I'm driving it. The most recent was when I was driving downhill on a winding mountain road. It died, and there was no place to get off the road. When it dies, the lights, power steering and power brakes all quit. Very dangerous!!! the dealer could find nothing wrong. There are many complaints about this on the internet, and Dodge is doing nothing to fix this. Like me, others have taken their cars to dealers, and they find nothing wrong. Something is very wrong! Dodge needs to get busy and fix this most dangerous defect before someone gets seriously injured or killed.
Caxmax sold me a car that my mechanic described as flood damaged up to the body line just below the window. Rust from the engine to the exhaust tips. Rocks and sand in all body cavities on the underside of the vehicle. I conveyed this information to my salesman who facilitated a refund. I included photos. A week later it was back on the carmax south sacramento website (where I bought it) with updated mileage information and no mention of the flood damage. As it is in unavailable status it is likely being resold to another unsuspecting consumer.

On several occasions the emergency brake does not work. I have engaged the emergency brake and my vehicle still rolls. I contacted stateline Dodge in kansas city, mo. They advised it is a known issue with my year and model and they want to charge over a thousand dollars to fix also they advised that even with the fix it still may roll. It should be noted that the listed date of occurrence is the last date. I am the original owner and the vehicle has less than 50000 miles and this has be happening for about the five or six years now. I don't drive the vehicle much.
Driving south bound on the i5 freeway (orange CO. ) I had to break to avoid hitting stopped traffic. When I hit my brake pedal, it went to the floor with no braking action. I had to downshift all the way to first gear to come to a stop. This lasted about 15 minutes. Afterwards, the brake pedal was hard again.

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Dodge Challenger. The contact stated that the air bag light stayed illuminated, the emergency brake was defective, and the vehicle overheated due to an antifreeze leak in the radiator. The contact took the vehicle to premier Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram fiat 13000 I-10 service rd, new orleans, la 70128 where he had the emergency brake repaired and the air bag light was turned off. The contact attempted to have the leak repaired but was informed that his warranty would not be honored. The contact also stated that after the light was turned off, it had continuously reappeared. The manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 98,000. Jo.
I was driving down the highway at about 80-83 mph. I was getting off on an exit in boise idaho when I stepped on my break to slow down my cruise control turned off but I was not able to break. The breaks locked up and I was not able to stop which made me go through the red light and get t-boned I had taken my car to get fixed twice before at the Dodge dealership. The first one I took it to was the twin falls dealership they couldn't fix it so I took it to the burley idaho where they said they fixed it. My electronic stability control light would turn on which would cause my steering wheel to lock up I would not be able to use my breaks or acceleration petal for about 30-40 seconds after that it would reset and my would work fine.
Brakes have worn into rotor within last 3 days. Recall issued for cruise control. Both seriously dangerous issues. Car basically unsafe to drive. Dealer won't let make appointment until mid November. Car has less than 12,000 miles.

There are no parts world wide to repair the abs brake module . Part # 68067398ab. I have contacted Dodge srt department @(855)778 8326 case # 35139693 and tried for 2 months to resolve this issue. I received a call today stating the part was no longer made and there is no dealer who can supply the part to make the repair. They would no longer be working this case and could /would not be able to help with the issue. We did keep the recording of this call as it was left on our voice mail. This is part of the braking system and also controls the anti skid system putting the driver at risk of not being able to control the car .
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Challenger. The contact stated that while driving at any speed, the vehicle did not accelerate and also when the gear was put in reverse, the vehicle did not reverse. The abs, the anti traction and the check-engine lights illuminated. The contact called the b&b automotive of fairless hills dealer (215-392-6326, located at 394 Lincoln hwy, fairless hills, PA 19030) and was told that there was no warranty. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000. Fe.
New vehicle was brought into dealer twice prior to reaching 15k miles. Brakes were adjusted, but said to be functioning as designed. Vehicle has long stops in city driving especially after long periods of time when the brakes have not been used, when there is no pressure in the line. The car was re-assigned a new star case by fca Dodge 58387971, from customer service rep "sarah" at extension 3020683. 1 appointment was set up to bring back to the dealer, but when I could not male the appt. She closed the case and sent me no notice. The transmission also has shifting issues and bangs in and out of gear at low or high speeds at all times, when the car has been, or has not been driven. I have leased or bought 7 cars from Chrysler / Dodge in the last ten years and have never been treated so poorly. I did ask that they take the car back as the first incident occurred within 3k miles where I nearly re-ended someone at very low speeds under 20 mph because of the car's defective stopping distance. Instead Dodge told me to go through my state's lemon law. I am asking for assistance from the NHTSA. I am asking that they contact Dodge fca customer care directly at 1 844 827 2006 and speak to sarah at extension 3020683. The transmission is very clunky as well. It slams into a lower gear so hard it lurches the vehicle backwards from third to second gear. This vehicle was a present to myself after surviving colon cancer, but it's a nightmare that Dodge doesn't want to hear about and wants to do nothing to resolve. First repair order was 08 29 2018 (purchased in July 2018), second repair order was March 21 2019. Third repair order was scheduled in may 2019, but needed to be rescheduled. Dodge closed my star case as a result of me canceling the appt. With the dealership.
I parked my car in back row of a parking lot to avoid dings. Set parking brake. Approximately 1 hr later my car was seen rolling across parking lot and impacted another parked vehicle. I went to dealer who after I explained what happen said he saw no recalls and would not cover. I then called Dodge srt and explained what had transpired. On hold 2 separate times . Dodge srt premium issued me a case# of 34483211 on June 6 2018 and asked me to bring car into dealership to be repaired. Once car was at dealership the service manager called and I was told they could not tell me why the brake came out of adjustment while parking brake was set, but had no explanation beyond that. I again expressed my concerns that this is not normal having owned numerous Dodges over the last 5 yearsi that I could not except that and Dodge agreed and said that this was moving up to special investigations, and someone would be in contact. The inspection was done last Tuesday the 19th the inspector informed me his inspection was complete and I could pick up my car. He assured me the brake was working and that I could bring it home and wait for the investigation before repairing the bumper and grille. I arrived last weds to get my car and was told unless I pay the repair bill I would not be allowed my car back. I have since called Dodge 2 more times and I am told this is a sealed file and they can not tell me anything and have no person I can contact to resolve this. My collector car is currently still at the dealership outside in a parking lot exposed to weather and who knows what, and I still have no response from Dodge other that this is under special investigation and they will contact me. I do not have any paperwork from the inspectors report and the dealership would only give me the bill they say I am to pay because the case# is not showing up on file due to being sealed.
I was in the city of old san juan, in motion driving down a two lane street. I was in a straight way I had been pressing the brake down to 55 miles approaching a a slight curve ( not even hard, the curve only deviated few feet to a right and then a couple feet to left, in pr traveling to the in the historical area there is a cement like structure no more than 10 inches serving as a barrier between the two car lanes and the bicycle path). At that moment I lost control of the vehicle, brakes felt weird completely pressing them down, in motion. When I slightly pump the brake again going toward a full press the brake and wheels didn't respond. I tried getting control and as I left the last corner and steer I lost control hitting the barrier. My front tire went off!! rolled down hill. After that my car got scratch at the bottom driving on my brake pad. I bought the car the same day!!!!! I can't stress enough the situation. I used to drive older models and I've never had this encounter. The street that it happen was asphalt. The dealer and bank I got my loan, denied my civil code rights, had to go through the insurance. I didn't sign the document stating I gave the rights to the car. The dealer independent Dodge dealer took back the car and never compensated me nor dealt with me again. They never gave me an alternate vehicle for my trouble while I fixed the problem. They never called back! I tried getting a good lawyer but after they tested what happen in the black box they got to the conclusion I was 40 mph, 5 seconds, prior to the moment the incident took place, so I wasn't going that fast pushing my brakes losing control from the left lane towards the concrete I couldn't get a lawyer in puerto rico. I felt they stole my hard earned money, $5,000 I paid upfront, plus the loan and plus the insurance money and the lawyer I had to pay for the aggravation.
Car is a manual transmission. Multiple occurrences- when emergency break is set and the engine is off and in park the car will still roll by itself. Complained to Dodge, Dodge says software issue and it will not happen again. Still happening, I am lucky it did not hit a car but today (2/22/18) it hit a tree- rolled 2 feet back. There is a recall out there for the 2017 model but I really feel multiple years are effected. Actual car is a scat pack. When I looked on line several people out there with a Challenger are having this issue, also with a manual transmission. Now I have to pay for the body work but I feel Dodge should be liable.
