36 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

So my car began to stall after filling it up with gas. Most of the time it stalled while stopped. A few times while in motion. Since the car dies I have lost power sterring.

37 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2013

Vehicle stalls several times immediately after fueling. I am not topping off the tank, or even completely filling the tank. This happens every time I put gas in the car.

38 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2013

This isn't the 1st time that the engine has stalled after filling the fuel tank. Most recent episode happened as I was preparing to enter the gas station's drive-thru car wash. . . I had my foot on the brake to enter the code for the wash and just as I started to move forward the engine stalled. Happened a couple of months ago on the public right of way, I was stopped at a red light (just after a fuel up and just before I was about to enter the freeway). Another time I was in motion and it stalled in the middle of a busy intersection. The stalling affects the transmission. The engine is warm when this occurs. It takes about 3 attempts to successfully restart.

39 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2012

Stall/die/shut off after fill up under normal driving conditions while in drive and in motion. Only happens right after fill up. Once you burn some of the fuel out of the tank, it returns to normal.

40 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2012

In the 2006 Dodge Charger r/t the car will completely turn off if the gas is full or close to full. This is a well known issue with the r/t model. Dodge has known of this issue for years and also the dealerships. After filling the tank the vehicle will turn off in turn losing power steering breaks and engine power even while your foot is on the gas pedal. I have almost gotten into accidents due to this. I took my vehicle to the Dodge dealerships and was told that this is a known problem and Dodge refuses to call a recall.

41 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2012

After filling the gas tank, the car would stumble, miss and start jerking. Was making a 90 degree right hand turn and the car shut off. In the middle of the turn, I had no power steering nor brakes. Fortunately, there were no oncoming cars as I ended up on the wrong side of the street. Car restarted and ran a few feet before the stumbling, jerking and missing started to occur once again. After reading up on this problem, I had the gas tank replaced, as it (the tank) had all of the signs of a bad "roll-over" valve. This valve is molded into the gas tank and is non-replaceable. Once the tank was replaced, the problem has gone away and have not had an issue since.

42 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2012

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a repair shop and while being test driven, the mechanic found a failure with the steering. The mechanic stated that the vehicle had a telescopic steering system. As a result, whenever it was in a forward position the vehicle failed to turn since it was in contact with a metal piece. The vehicle was taken to dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 97,065. Pmb.

43 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2012

Nearly every time I refuel the vehicle it stalls 4-6 times in the first 5 miles. This has left me in turns without power steering, on highway on ramps without power steering or brakes, and sitting in busy intersections attempting to re-start the car. It is worse if I turl left after gassing up - car will immediately die while in the intersection. This has happened approximately 30 times in the last 10 months.

44 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2012

I was ready to leave work for the night and my car would not shift out of park we tried to use the emergency release button on the side of the gear shift but it didnt work. I called a mechanic and he came out googled the problem and saw that it may have been a shifter assembly defect,as he looked at the assembly there was noted to b a cable wire the was also dislodged,he advised me to have the car towed to a Dodge dealer for repair. The car was taken to the dealership and the entire shifter assmebly and cable had to be installed.

45 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2012

After fueling my 2006 Dodge Charger r/t, the car will begin to sputter and completely shut-off. This results in the loss of power steering and having to put the car into park in order to restart. It will occur multiple times, sometimes while idling, before it will begin to act normally. It has been happening for several months. At first, it was sporadic but now it is everytime I fill up the gas tank. It can be very dangerous as it can happen anytime and without warning.

46 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2011

Every time you fill up the gas tank the car wants to stall. I'm told there is a solenoid in the gas tank that fails and it lets raw fuel go to the evap canister causing a stall condition. This solenoid valve is molded into the gas tank and the only way to fix it is to replace the gas tank. This stall can happen while your sitting at a stop light or just pulling out into an intersection. The intersection situation is very dangerous.

47 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2011

At certain speeds my vehicle will vibrate. Going over speed bumps or into even the slightest pot hole the vehicle will vibrate. When slowing down or coming to a stop the front end will vibrate. Took the vehicle to the dealership and they advised my front tires needed to be changed and/or rotated to the back due to an unusual wearing on the tires. The wear was on the outisde of the tires. When took the vehicle back into Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealer service department they advised I will probably soon be needing new tire rod ends and this is what may have caused my front tires to wear so easily. Especially purchasing the car used in July 2010 with all brand new tires and now needing to replace all four and its only December 2011. Service department manager advised this was a big issue with the early model Chargers but Chrysler still has yet to issue a recall. I prolonged taking the vehicle in to purchase new tire rods. I went in recently for an oil change and the service manager advised me I no longer need to be driving my vehicle with the rods I have on. It was a recommendation earlier but now he is highly advising me not to drive. Within 3 oil changes the rods have diminished greatly. Something needs to be done Chrysler is letting the purchasers take the butt-end of this issue.

48 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2011

After filling up the gas tank, within minutes I was turning left in an intersection when the engine stopped and the steering became very difficult and an accident was barely avoided. This was extremely dangerous because of oncoming traffic. In fact I was almost struck by two vehicles, one coming at me and the other behind me. I restarted the car, drove through the intersection for about 5-10 seconds and the car stopped again, same steering difficulties. Started the car a third time and it moved forward with no more stops. This has happened at least 20 more time in the past 3 years. Additionally, within the past 6 months, it has been very difficult to put fuel into the tank. It would take about 20 minutes because the nozzle would shut off. I could only put in very small amounts each squeeze of the handle. I find this not only annoying but also question the design of the whole fuel receiving and storage system of this vehicle. I have asked my local Dodge dealership about the problems and was advised that a new gas tank would have to be installed for approximately $1,200! a new gas tank? that would confirm in my mind that these problems are caused absolutely by a design flaw and should be recalled and repaired ASAP before there are fatalities linked to this flaw.

49 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2009

1. We have been experiencing steering and driving problems such as making a right turn the steering wheel locks up or wants to go straight(this being the worst so far). Over the past 2 months the cars front end has been gradually been getting worse.

50 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2006

The problem started when I bought it brand new and kept bringing back to the dealer. Failure to find problem. Notice a lot of other customers having the same problem. Brought car to an expert and found the suspension which includes shocks, struts, brakes etc. Were not the right part for this model. Expert changed necessary parts and have not had a problem there after. Expert did research and dealer wanted to know what he did to fix it and he would not comply. They should do the research and fix the problem. I hope everyone files a complaint and I would tell Dodge they fix it or I will file a defect lawsuit for complete refund of a $42,000 car plus inconvenience.

51 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2006

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Charger. The current mileage on the vehicle is 15,500. When driving 60 mph or higher the entire vehicle vibrates. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer for this reason; however the dealer had been unable to duplicate the problem. The contact did not want to guess the failure mileage.
