1 Wheel Bolts problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2009

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Charger. While the contact was attempting to change his tires he noticed that the lug nuts were swollen and disfigured. He was also unable to take them off of the vehicle. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. There were no prior warnings, the current and failure mileages were 55674.

2 Wheel Bolts problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2009

While attempting to remove the wheels from my vehicle, I discovered that the factory tire tool would not fit on the stock lug nuts. The lug nuts are a two piece design, a steel nut with a sheet metal jacket covering it. The jacket has become warped and the tire tool will not fit. I contacted the local dealership and spoke with a mechanic. He stated it is a common problem. I then contacted the manufacturer. I was told that I had to take the vehicle in to the dealership and have it serviced before I filed a complaint. I realize this may not seem like a safety issue, I would not want my spouse or myself to be stranded along a highway or remote road because I was unable to change a flat tire due to a poor lug nut design.
