Third time changing the light bulb and the wires for my headlight (low beam) and still having problems, few friends of mine have the same problem. Low beam goes off while driving. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.
1. The wiring to the headlights keeps burning into and it has been replaced twice already. 2. The radio doesn't come on when I start the car; I have to shut it off and restart it sometimes several times to get everything connected. 3. I have had to have my car aligned 4 times in 9 months and bought 2 sets of tires because it will not keep the alignment. This has been going on for over a year and the radio and lights has been happening for much longer. What can you tell me about these problems?.
My 2012 Dodge Charger is having the same low beam headlight issue as the recall posted 5/2/2014 for my year. However, when I look up my VIN number, its saying there is no active recalls.
Low beam hid headlights fail (turn off completely) when on for period of time regardless of if vehicle is stopped or in motion. There is an existing recall, recall number p08 dated 04/2014 however my VIN and other vehicles with hid low beam lightning were "not included" in the affected vins for p08.
I have replaced 6 passenger side low beam wiring harnesses in the last 5 months due to the harness melting at the lightbulbs connector. Also replacing lightbulbs each time because once the harness melts they cannot be separated causing an added additional cost each time to the problem. I purchased a new lightbulb harness 3 weeks ago & had it installed due to my low beam going out yet again, & yesterday evening noticed it was out again!!!! after all the time and money spent, I'm getting tired of this and frankly it's extremely dangerous to know electrical stuff is burning up under your hood that should be safe! also it is against the law to have headlights out in my state georgia.
My low beam does not function. I googled my problem and an edmonds article identified a recall on police vehicles ( p08 ) and a subsequent recall on the rest of the model run. When I called the recall line given for fca I was told it did not apply to my problem. I was transferred to customer care who told me they would do nothing for me since the recalls were VIN specific. I asked if there was a repair I could accomplish and was told I would have to talk to a service representative. Until I have a remedy I will be driving around with one headlight. It seems ridiculous that the representative in recall can agree that I have the affected wiring in my vehicle, according to the build sheet for my VIN, but they will not make the repair called for in the recall on the defect.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that his vehicle's prior owner had a recall repair for the plug in part for the headlight that was melting. The issue recurred again the contact being the new owner. The contact called the dealer jim cogdill Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram 8544 kingston pike, knoxville, TN 37919 (865) 690-1611 who said it was nothing they could since repair were done the first time. The manufacturer had not been contacted. The failure mileage was 45,000. Tf.
Takata recall on Saturday February 27 my car radio began to turn off and on the display screen it said battery saver mode. I assumed my battery needed to charge but later that night it started and within minutes it did it again but the auto shops were closed. I was unable to take it the next day and today Monday February 29 as I drove to work my radio turned off again. After work I decided to drive to the auto zone to get the battery checked. As I drove my screen began turning off and on, my a/c kept turning up and down but blowing hot air, as if the heater was on, and the display screen where it shows speed turned white and started blinking on and off, all the indexes on the dash went crazy and maybe two minutes later my car shut off while driving and I struggled to turn as the steering locked. I was lucky to be near the auto zone already and away from traffic. My son was with me it was a horrible experience. They were able to check it and it was the alternator. My headlight on the passenger side is out as well. I have heard of recalls with all these parts but apparently mine is not on the list. Same problems. This really needs to be addressed.

Low beam headlights turn off without warning while driving on city roads or highway. Usual one or the other, but sometimes both at the same time causing an extremely dangerous situation. This issue started in June of 2015 and happens now every time this vehicle is driven. This has been a problem for Dodge Chargers. There seems to be an earlier safety recall to fix this safety issue.
Recall 12v-042 was completed and they did not find a problem. Shortly after the recall was completed we have had continued failure of the passenger low beam headlight and found the connector has been overheated.
Drivers side headlight continues to go out even after changing the bulb 4 times. Looks like a harness melting problem that has been recalled for the same model year except only in police vehicles. It is clearly a problem for other types than just police cars.
One of my low beam headlights has been out for two weeks. I set up a service appointment with local dealer over a month ago when I initially received the recall notice. I called back and asked them to expedite my appointment, but was told they are only allowed to order 1 repair kit per week so it will still be a while before they are able to get to my car. I called Chrysler and was told they can't expedite orders for parts involved in recalls. This makes no sense, if there are safety issues those parts should be sent out as soon as possible.
My headlights burned out over a month ago. I asked the dealer to repair but they said I would have to pay out of pocket. I repaired them at my expense then received a recall notice for the wiring harness two days later. I again contacted the dealer and asked them to repair the wiring harness since it was covered under the recall. I was told that Chrysler has not made the parts and no dealership has them. My name was put on a calling list so that I could get the next available part. In the mean time, I am a single mom and I have no choice but to either get a rental car or drive at the risk of my own safety rather than miss work. I again called the dealership because it has been a month and I still have not received a call that the part was ready. I was told that the part was still not ready and there was nothing they could do. I was referred to Chrysler's "customer service" where I was told to file a complaint under the lemon law through the booklet in my owners manual packet. The booklet had no information on the lemon law for my state but listed most of the other states. I have been without my passenger side headlight for over a month now and have replaced the light 3 times, once through the dealer but they burn out within a single night.
My headlight harness connector was never repaired,I never got the paper for it.
I was driving and the headlight on the passenger side quit working. I stopped and checked it out and the light would come on if I touched the connector. Firestone replaced the bulb. The bulb was intermittent. If you touched the connector it would work. Ultimately, the connector caught fire and melted off. I found that there was a recall, but my VIN was not covered in the recall. The recall should be expanded! I am senior systems engineer for the federal aviation administration and fully qualified to assess that it is a safety issue.
The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that the driver's side low beam heads failed without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the light bulb overheated and the wiring harness had melted. As a result, both the headlight and the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 14v101000 (lighting). The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 40,300 and the current mileage was 40,450.
While driving the vehicle, the low beam headlights will go brighter, then dimmer. Then the headlights went out all together. The high beam lights still worked. While changing the bulbs, it was noticed that the wiring to the low beam lights was melted causing a short.
The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that the driver's side low beam headlight failed intermittently because the connection was melted. There was a recall under NHTSA campaign number: 12v042000 (electrical system , exterior lighting , service brakes, hydraulic) that could have been related to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that the headlights intermittently failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the wiring harness had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and about the failure. The failure mileage was 60,026.
Passenger side headlight went out. I was able to tap on it for a few days to make it come back on thinking it was just a loose wire, but one night it completely went out. I brought it to pepboys and upon a closer observation they found that the socket was melted and had caused the headlight to burn out as well.
The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that the driver and passenger's side headlights failed. The contact replaced the bulbs and noticed a melted connector. The failure recurred and the contact called the dealer however, no further repairs were made to the vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted but only referred the contact back to the dealer. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number: 12v042000 (electrical system, exterior lighting , service brakes, hydraulic) but did not confirm if the vehicle was included in the recall. The failure mileage was 61,850. The VIN was not available.
The drivers side low beam headlight went out while driving. Thinking it was the bulb, I took the car apart to replace it and the connector was melted. I found that there was a recall regarding the wiring and power distribution and called the dealer and scheduled an appt for repair. A few days later, the other headlight went out, at night, while driving home from work. This is a very dangerous safety issue for me as well as other drivers. The dealer replaced the recalled parts but the low beam harness bulb connector is not included in the recall. I currently only have one working headlight again and I have no choice but to pay for repairs myself at this point because I can't risk both lights going out again. Something needs to be done.
In a matter of two and a half weeks, I've had a major issue with my vehicle. The wire harness connector for my headlights in my 2012 Dodge Charger were burnt out, causing my headlights to go out. This has happened twice. There has been a previous recall on 2011-2012 Dodge Chargers for this issue but upon contacting Chrysler, they said they were unable to help me due to my VIN number not being directly effected even though it is the same issue. As a first responder it is vital that I can see the road ahead of me, and people can see me alike. How many more times is this going to have to happen before some action is going to take place? I've talked to several other people who have 2012 Dodge Chargers and they've had the same issue. This clearly isn't just with my car, it is with the make, model and year.
The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that the driver's side headlight failed. The contact replaced the bulb but continued to experience the failure. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the low beam headlight wiring connector was melted. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number: 12v042000 (electrical system, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic) however, the recall only included those models that were being used as police vehicles. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000.
2012 Dodge Charger low beam headlight on the driver side continues to go out. I have a melted/fried harness and exposed wiring. Has been going out for several months. I have to replace bulbs continuously both oem and after market bulbs. There are other owners experiencing the same issue, especially on the driver side. There is a recall for the police version, but none for the se models, however, the issues seem to be the same. I have filed a complaint with Chrysler. Visiting the dealer tomorrow to attempt remedy.
