The "vehicle not in park" warning message is a safety feature designed to prevent accidents and injuries. It's a standard safety feature in most modern vehicles, including the Dodge Charger. Here's what it's intended to when the vehicle is shifted out of park (p) and the transmission is not fully engaged, the system will display a "vehicle not in park" warning message on the dashboard. This message is triggered by the vehicle's transmission control module (tcm) or electronic stability control (esc) system, which monitors the vehicle's gear position and transmission status. The purpose of this warning is to alert the driver that the vehicle is not properly secured and may roll or move unexpectedly, potentially causing an accident or injury. This can happen when: the parking brake is not engaged: if the parking brake is not fully engaged or is released before shifting into gear, the system will detect this and display the warning message. The transmission is not fully engaged: if the transmission is not fully engaged in gear, such as when shifting from park to reverse or drive, the system will detect this and display the warning message. The vehicle is not properly positioned: if the vehicle is not properly positioned on a level surface or on a slope, the system may detect this and display the warning message. To resolve the "vehicle not in park" issue on your Dodge Charger: ensure the parking brake is fully engaged. Check that the transmission is fully engaged in gear (e. G. , park, reverse, drive). Make sure the vehicle is properly positioned on a level surface or adjust it to a flat surface. The car is in park but will not turn off instead it runs until it decides it wants to turn off which can take several hours. This is a safety concern and issue that needs to resolved we pay to much money on these vehicles to deal with crappy problems due to bad mechanical issues and features.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Charger. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the lifters were making an abnormal tapping sound. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer and was informed that there was no recall coverage for the failure. The mechanic determined that the tapping sound was due to the lifters, which were causing excessed wear on the camshaft. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 145,000.
There’s a recall on 11 part on my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Charger. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a ticking sound coming from engine. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced bucking, surging, hesitation, loss of power and an engine misfire. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the failure was due to premature wear of internal components within the engine, and that the rocker arms, lifters, and camshaft were faulty. The contact was informed that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The engine was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 125,000.
While driving on the interstate at a high rate of speed the mds engaged and suddenly, the engine dies. I am unable to accelerate and have to coast across 3 lanes of traffic to reach the emergency lane. The timing chain tensioner and timing chain guides had broken into multiple pieces and the timing chain was also broken. The failure of the timing components resulted in warped values, bent push rods and catastrophic engine failure. This left me sitting in my car on the side of the interstate for several hours in the dark. There were no warning lamps or any problems with how the engine had operated before it suddenly died. All parts that have been removed from the car have been kept for inspection. There is a recall for the same oem timing components failing and causing sudden engine failure for 2009-2012 Dodge Chargers. Dodge used the same timing tensioner, timing arm guide, and timing chains in Chargers built from 2009 to 2019. Why would the recall be extended to all years that used these parts. If they had recalled all the years those parts were used my car engine would not quit suddenly at 80mph and I have to coast across three lanes of traffic or sit in the emergency for hours waiting on a ride. .
Engine shut off while driving on the street. My safety was at risk as cars behind me almost rear end me and just avoid me as I did not break myself . So I did not have break lights on because engine just shut off not yet made an appointment to have it check not yet , need it to be check by dealer no light no warnings at all.
The coolant temperature went about limit and the coolant temperature light would go on while driving and I had to park the vehicle to cool the engine down. This keeps repeat very often, I filled coolant oil couple of times when I do that it works fine for couple of days and then repeats again. Took the vehicle to the dealer to check what the problem is with the coolant tempature and they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle.
Vehicle developed rocker arm tick or pentastar tick from the left side head during a highway trip , vehicle experienced loss of power when accelerating and slightly shook car at idle. This failure and the cause of the noise is due to faulty rocker arms.

48hrs after I received and oil change I was driving to victorville California from san bernardino California and as I was exiting my exit my car turned off as I was driving. Car would not start. Tried to jump it and the engine would not turn over. I towed it to the shop after some troubleshooting they said it was the engine. . It had locked up. I was quoted $2500 for repairs.
Code p0303 which is cylinder three misfire, changed out coil on cylinder three bad camshaft and bad valves steering wheel stiffens up doing left turn.
I was driving home on the highway and the car shift into neutral while I was driving.
As I was driving down the freeway the oil cooler filter assembly cracked and drained all my coolant flood and my car heated up, had to pull over ASAP and had to get my car towed, from reviews I've read it looks like that part is defective in Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep.

The number 6 piston is misfiring and causing the car to jerk. The part in other 2013 Chargers has been recalled , mine is having the same issue , but not on recall list. It happens when car is stationary the most , but does happen when driving too. It happens on city streets and on highways.
I brought this 2013 Dodge Charger with 86,000 miles used in 10/20/2016 from south chicago Dodge and when I got it, the car used to jerk when accelerating and I took it back to the dealer and told them about the car problem that I had. 1st time they had fix the transmission, 2nd, time the had put a new transmission in and now 2018 its having the same problem, its just somthing with this transmission or wut ever its connected to keeps burning out or keeps damaging the transmission. I don't know but I had a lot of problems with this car.
Alternator.
I am having difficulty with my dealership regarding the repair of t36 safety recall t36. I have contact the dealership several times regarding this repair, each time, I am told it is on order. This began in September 2017 and is on-going.

However would be charged the $800. 00 now and reimbursed at a later date when remedy was available. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 45,285. Ap.
While driving my 2013 Dodge Charger daytona at 60mph the vehicle just stopped working. The power just failed, I had no break or steering and just had to pray no one pulled out in front of me or I would have hit them. I have been researching this since my dealership says their is no open recall but there are literally hundreds of complaints of the same problem all over different websites. This is scary and very dangerous since people typically drive very fast in these vehicles! I could've been killed or killed someone else! not to mention that waiting for the tow truck I couldn't even move the car or have any hazards on.
My car has cut off and turned right back on several times. I have taken it to the dealer and there are 0 issues.
The alternator diodes experienced a rapid failure resulting in a complete shutdown while driving on a city street at 50mph. Low battery indicator light came on and within 1-2 minutes lost all car functions including antilock breaking, electronic stability control, and power steering. Upon coming to a complete stop, could not put the car in park. Car eventually reset and put itself in park. Experienced a burning/melting smell. Had car battery jumped and car appeared fine. Resumed driving, but experienced a complete repeat of events within just a few minutes. Had car towed to dealership for repair. This appears to be the same problem as stated in recall p60/ NHTSA 14v-634. Upon researching on the web, it is obvious that many others with the 180amp engine are experiencing the same issue; however, it is unclear as to why the recall was only for the 160amp. I can only presume that it is because there are less of the 180amp engines sold. This is an extremely dangerous situation!.
When accelerating, the car lunges forward instead of speeding up smoothly like other vehicles. Seems to always occur at between the 1000 and 2000 rpm range. Has happened regularly since purchasing car.
Completed the recall on campaign 14v634000 , for the alternator. Less than 2 weeks later, driving on a two lane road, going 35mph, the vehicle looses all power. After getting it to a dealership, now informed that it is a bad starter. The issues with the car have been all electrical: door window button stopped working, air conditioning does not work (dealer is unable to figure out problem). These are significant electrical issues with a 2 year old vehicle.
There is a recall I just recieved in the mail today on my car p60 (alternator) and I was driving down the road yesterday Dec 6, when everything shut down on me. . . While driving 45 mph in congested traffic almost causing a deadly accident. They said there is no remedy yet but they will put a new defective alternator on my car leaving me in the same situation if this happens again until the problem is resolved. I feel the car should be replaced at their expense as it is no longer safe in my opinion for me to drive with children because we were almost killed yesterday when this happened there was no warning it just went down. Dodge willnot give mearental car since I am 900 miles over warranty but this is a recall so im stuck with no car and even when I get it back it is still defective. Please help!.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Charger. The contact stated while driving at various mph, the gears switched without command and jerked violently as check engine remained illuminated. The contact stated the vehicle was in park and the jerked almost hitting a kid. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed the transmission and gears needed to be replaced. The repair was performed. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 229,662. Jb.
Having multiple problems with my Charger which only has 7300 miles on it. Like others have mentioned, when at a complete stop, the car will jump forward. Feels like transmission shifting late. Then when driving and getting up to speed, the rpms will jump up but the car does not speed up. The last time the rpms increased, I quickly took my foot off the gas pedal, and the rpms continued to rise to 5k. Both issues happen sporadically. Have taken to dealer 2x. First time they had for 2 days, reprogrammed the transmission and said they fixed it. I took it home over the weekend and both issues still happened. Took car back in on Monday and this time they had it for 4 days and gave me a rental car. Today I was told that Chrysler is aware of the problem (valve body separate plate part) and is working on a fix. The part/fix was supposed to be available at end of may/early June, but since it's already 6/5, obviously that date was not an accurate time frame. (star case no. S1421000013 date 4/9/14) the dealership states they cannot do anything to fix this until the part is available. They could not let me keep the rental car (warranty coverage time max out), and gave me back my Charger to drive until they can fix it. I worry about the problems and what else could go wrong, or if the rpms will cause problems with my speed, cause a wreck, or just cause further damage to the trans/engine. Not a happy new car owner.
Update 03/11/2014: so I finally contacted the “Chrysler customer service" number and was advised that they were aware of the problem and would be forwarding my complaint to "the back order parts division". What the heck is that??? I had to return the rental that was covered in my warranty because it only provides for 5-days of coverage. (yes, you have a minimum of 5 days coverage even when parts are back ordered three weeks. I didn't know detroit was that far away). The customer service person then told me that the service manager would be calling me. Five days later, I still have not heard from the service manager. I did however, get a call from Chrysler advising me to call the service department. Why should I have to do that? I'm the customer. They should be servicing me. So as of this date I have owned the car for four weeks, driven it for three days, and it's been in the shop ever since with no estimated time of repair and no compensation for my time lost at work, vacations cancelled, and extra incurred expenses of substitute travel. Not to mention that I’m still on the hook because Chrysler won’t even stand behind their product enough to at least buy it back. Thanks Chrysler!!!.
I have two vehicles of the same year. The same thing happened to both vehicles. From a stop to increase speed, transmission sticks in first gear. I have since learned to either stop and start again or place in neutral and then back to drive.
