Car displaying battery saver mode have had battery checked and always with a passing diagnosis I have gotten car checked and it might be a faulty alternator car has donde this since starting of second year of purchase but never have out much attention to this u til now that car shuts off and have to get jumped in order to start I have seen in forums that people have this issue and is reoccurring in this model and year.
Today my car turned off all of a sudden out of no where. I have stated to the dealer for years that it is not normal for a car to say battery saver mode and lights, radio, dash and all electrical devices in a vehicle to turn of or stutter of and on. They said it is normal and that it is my battery. If a car turns on the alternator is supposed to take all the load off of the battery running in the engine nothing else. My car has stuttered multiple time off and in while driving and even almost turned off. This is not safe for driving around, because car could turn off while driving on a highway and I lose all control off the vehicle steering, brakes and accelerating. When I the vehicle turned off today I was stopped at a red light and the car started to stutter and then it just turned off when the green light turned on. I was unable to take a picture today and I was in traffic and it is illegal to drive and use a phone. I have multiple picture from the past but was only able to upload one.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that he had to manually enter the vehicle with the key because the battery was drained. The vehicle was towed to spitzer Chrysler Dodge (13001 brook park rd, brook park, OH 44142) where it was diagnosed that the alternator failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,828.
Alternator recall that matches exact issue, make (Dodge), model (charger), year (2014), and engine size of car (3. 6l v6). Alternator malfunction caused short circuit of hydro-electric power steering pump. Indicator lights began to flash and car would begin to stall while in operation until eventually dying completely. Alerted that VIN number was not part of the recall and had to have all work done at local mechanic.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Dodge Charger. While driving approximately 55 mph, the alternator warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle lost power. The vehicle did not stall, but hesitated after the warning indicator illuminated. The failure had been occuring for approximately three months. The vehicle was taken to newnan peachtree Chrysler (53 holliz pkwy, newnan, GA 30265) where it was diagnosed that a new alternator was needed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 95,412.
I own a 2014 Dodge Charger se and had a faulty alternator. It appears that this is not an isolated issue with my vehicle. Per NHTSA's recall t36 and t75 some alternators were recalled for this vehicle. I believe the recall should have included my vehicles alternator. Before may 27th, 2018, our alternator failed. The car would not start, at the time we were not sure if it was the alternator. I had a local auto store test the alternator and it passed. So, we purchased a new battery. We believed that resolved this issue. After a month, the issue happened again. It appears the alternator was not charging the battery correctly. The issue was hit or miss luckily, we did not have an issue while driving the car. This car is not an everyday vehicle so it could go a couple of weeks without being driven. To alleviate the issue, I replaced the alternator on September 15th 2018. Since that time everything has been working correctly. Attached are a photo of the oem alternator, the aftermarket alternator, and receipt. I believe Dodge Chrysler should extend their current recalls to include the denso 42100 0750 alternator. On may 27th, 2018 our alternator failed. At the time we wer.
The alternator may experience diode thermal fatigue failure due to cyclical loads induced by electro-hydraulic power steering.
I'm still having, (battery saver mode light coming on). And now I'm worried about the ("takata recall"). I've taken my Dodge Charger back to Dodge dealership for service today, 11/16/17, as the (abs) & (traction control) lights both were on. And as I was driving my car to the dealership I tried to set my cruise control at 75 mph as I was on I-77 south, but I couldn't get it to set at any speed. Today 11/17/2017 my repair bill is $350. 00 dollars + a car payment and hopefully I can get home with the alternator issues. I'm tired of paying for something that I'm afraid to drive anywhere I need to go. This Dodge belongs to a family of 4 including myself, can someone please help me get something done ASAP I think I have a beautiful vehicle and I don't really want to trade it just because of the no parts available, as my luck would be, the parts would be available the same month as I traded cars.
Alternator failed dealer said that the car has been in for alternator recall and yet the car stalled on the highway while driving with no warning almost killing my son and the problem after diagnosing is the alternator I believe this problem has to be investigated because I believe Dodge are replacing alternators with another defective ones my car is now at prescott Dodge dealership and they want to charge me almost $900 to replace the alternator please let me know what is my options and thank you.
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, she heard an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle, and then noticed smoke coming through the cabin with the battery save mode and traction control warning lights illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the battery saver mode had intermittently appeared on and off over the past two years, where it was continuously informed ( per a auto shop that there was no failure). The contact was able to pull the vehicle over when she observed more smoke and opened the engine when it was noticed that smoke was coming from the alternator and was completely black. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer (mckay's Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram, 2020 frontage rd n, waite park, mn, 56387) where it was diagnosed that the alternator had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. After the vehicle was repaired, the contact became aware of NHTSA campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical). The contact called the dealer who informed the contact that her VIN was not included in the recall and stated that her vehicle was manufactured 2 weeks after the specific recall dates of December, and the vehicle was manufactured in January. The manufacturer was not contacted and made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,535.
Alternator replaced two years ago under recall. Car died again while stopped in traffic and would not restart. Dealer says failure was the same failure that was under recall. District rep has not approved repairs yet, it's been a week. This will be the 3rd alternator in two years.
While driving my evic notified me that it was in "battery save mode" . My research revealed that this is en electrical problem involving the alternator. There have been 2 recalls for this defect, however, my VIN is not included. I feel that it should be. I have an appointment with Dodge on 3-21. I think they should replace the alternator at no cost. Kindly respond.
I always bring my car to rancho Chrysler Jeep Dodge on 8010 balboa avenue san diego, CA 92111 regarding the "batter saver mode". I've had this car for almost 2 years and have gone in several times about this issue. They replaced the battery/alternator at least that's what I was told and the "battery saver mode" still comes on. The issue is if you turn off the car it goes away. I was informed to bring it back in if the "battery saver mode" comes back on but if the place isn't opened that's impossible to do so. I would like this to be fixed, my car cuts off at times when I start it and drive off in the morning when it's colder and this has been happening for years which this was reported to the car company as well.
The car had an exhaust smell Wednesday coming through the vents. That went away. No issues with performance. Notice days after car was loud. Figured it was just warming up with cold temperature. Last night car starts no problem. Drive to a friends house was maybe in her house 7 minutes. We go to leave used the key fob to unlock the car notice inside of the car is completely black, won't start. There was a ticking noise under the hood. Windshield wipers start moving. I test the key fob not responding. Dashboard lights up, message screen is white, car puts it's self in run but engine not starting. You can move the gear to put the car in neutral. The whole time dashboard and all lights are know blinking. Turn signals are on outside but dashboard doesn't reflect. Battery tested fine. I have video of what the car is doing. They completed a recall on the alternator due to not giving enough power to the car in 2015. Hopefully that's not the problem. Will be towed tomorrow to the dealership. Unable to load the video due to recorded on my phone.
The vehicle has been having a pop up message which was stated battery save mode. I then replaced the battery for the key thinking it would help. I then started the vehicle battery and was no problems . Today when I stared my car a white screen popped up where I see the messages in the dash board of speedometer. There after when I started my car it sound like was having a hard time turning. Later that day while driving 25 mph my cst dcteem completely shut off. I tried jumping it, testing battery and it sounds as if alternator has went out. This is very unfortunate when this is a newer car and warranty just expired. I was driving.
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the alternator was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 23,000.
I have been working with fca since 8/31/16, so for 28 days now, that I have been without power steering. I filed my first complaint on, or around 9/12/16. I experienced the exact same symptoms as stated in NHTSA pe14022 while driving down the highway at apporximately 65mph. Every warning light went off flashing, service transmission message, service power steering , and tach, and speedo would drop to zero , and I would lose engine power, and power steering. I captured the incident on video, and provided the video to NHTSA, I will again provide a link for the video here : https://youtu. Be/e96hvqpep10 . In dealing with fca llc, they refuse to replace the electric hydraulic power steering pump that was fried from this incident occuring. Fca is saying that it was the "2 year old mopar battery" that caused the incident, and refuse to replace the ehps pump that worked perfectly fine before this occured. I replaced the alternator per NHTSA recall no. 14v-634 a great deal of time prior to this incident occuring. Fca is trying to circumvent having to replace the pump by changing the origin of the means to the battery, instead of the alternator. I have been extremely frustrated with how fca refuses to acknowledge all of the proof given to them. I am not alone in this, there had been many complaints filed with similar results as mine in dealing with fca. It's time for NHTSA to do something to remedy this issue with fca. Fca offered to replace the $1400 ehps pump if I pay a $500 CO-pay, I refuse to accept this offer based on the principle of the matter. The true origin of all of the issue's I'm currently having, is from the original alternator that was in the car for a year and a half initially, and during that time it was improperly charging the battery that possibly caused the battery to ultimately fail on 8/31/16. Please see attached files. Failure mileage 81332.
My 2014 Dodge Charger is brand new off the lot of lhm Dodge in tucson, az. By 13,978 my car smelled like sulfur while in motion. Driving sluggishly, and the "battery saver mode" light on. Brought into larry h miller for repair. Was told the alternator needed replaced after 13,975 miles on the vehicle. At 14,100 miles the vehicle was making the same smell, and the battery safer mode light was on again . Returned it to lhm with complaints. They say "it's normal" manager told me "Dodge just didn't make the alternator big enough for that engine, manufacturer flaw"at 14,432 miles, the vehicle not blowing cold air. Battery saver mode light was still on, smelled like sulfur and car was driving sluggish. I opened case with corporate. They "fixed" it, and sent me on my way. On June 17, 2016, my vehicle was driving sluggishly, the engine light on, called Dodge immediately and was assigned a case manager. I called jim click immediately to get my vehicle in. My vehicle was 23,900 miles. Dodge claimed they could not get me in until July 1st and that its "fine to drive my vehicle as long as the light isn't flashing". Brought in for "repair" on June 1st. I drove a rental car from Friday June 1st-June 8th, the "cluster" in the dash was not reading and needed to be replaced. I was told it was "all fixed". When the vehicle pulled up I got in and began to pull away as my dashboard went black. I turned around. My advisor brought it back and explained that it needed to be "reset" but that he'll order a new cluster. I get into my vehicle there is an "error" sign where the milage is supposed to be. I that I didn't feel comfortable driving this vehicle. I expressed how upset I was about the situation and he said to me "you'll be fine to drive it, it won't shut off". I get home started it, and the entire dash shuts off. My car is now being towed again to jim click Dodge.
My Charger was within the year rage of the 160amp alternator recall however my VIN is not included for some reason. I have got "power saving mode" a couple times when just sitting in one spot. I just hope I don't end up the next one losing power on the highway because my VIN is not included for some reason.
While driving on interstate at full speed a message appeared on vehicle instrument panel: battery saver mode. Was concerned as I did not know what the message meant. Was not mentioned in the owner manual. Looked up message on Dodge Charger forum, realized that my vehicle falls within years for recall, with 160 amp alternator, but my particular VIN number is not included in recall nor have I been contacted. Perhaps it, along with others, should be to warn owners of potential issues. There was nothing in the message to indicate that the vehicle needed to be serviced, although to my understanding it can cause loss of power to the entire system.
Recall for alternator. Bought this car in februray 2015 and salesman informed me there was a recall but I have received nothing by mail.
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Charger. While driving approximately 20 mph, a burning odor was present inside the vehicle and the engine stalled. The contact indicated that the brake, abs, and battery sensor lights illuminated during the incident. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the alternator was faulty. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v634000 (electrical system). The contact stated that the vehicle experienced the same defect listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 41,000. The VIN was not available.
Went in to work drop some papers off, come out car want do anything. Had to call tow truck to get towed in. Took about a week for them to find what was wrong with it. My computer system shut down. From the time I got it back, up into June of 2015. When turning on windshield wipers dems the entire inside lights. One day coming home from work, the inside goes black on dash board, come to a stop car shuts off. Started right back up. Radio didn't come back on for a few minutes. The next morning go to ruin errands, same thing. To the dealership I goes. They keep it look it over gives me a call and says it is the alternator which had a recall, we put a new one in there, the battery connector has to be replace. Get my car back same problem, stalling out, if hit a bump radio adjust loud as ever or very low. Key fob not reading, lights still dems. Put the connector on still the same problem. Took it back in two days later new radio, new key fob, new radio. Get my car back still having the same problem, want me to bring it back every time this happen who has time for that. Still same problems going on why this junk hasn't been recalled.
Radio shut off and would not turn on while driving to destination. Once I got to my destination, I had the car in park, but the engine still turned on. All of the gauges in the dashboard started going crazy and then the inside lights started flashing. The car then shut off and had absolutely no power whatsoever. Could not even put my car in "neutral" to move it out of the middle of the road because it is "push to start" and has no way of getting power to the transmission to be able to put it in neutral. I was in the middle of the road waiting for Dodge's roadside assistance to get there from 12:00 am until 5:30 am. The tow truck eventually came and took it to the nearest dealership to find out that my alternator went out and completely drained the battery as well. My car was only 3 thousand miles outside of the 36k bumper to bumper warranty and only 2 years old. Well timed, Dodge!! way to get out of paying for your mistakes!!.
On August 05 2017 we were on our way to tampa,FL travelling on us 41 in gibsoton ,FL when vehicle all of a sudden the vehicle began to shut down out of nowhere. Nothing would work no lights,no alarm, nothing the car was completely dead. I called to have it towed but bc the car was completely dead the aaa worker could not to it on a flatbed tow truck. They had to have a dolly lift truck. This is very dangerous and could have resulted in an accident had I been on the interstate. The car gave me no indication that anything was failing was running just fine when I left my home. This should be a major concern for the manufacturer that a vehicle will start just fine and all of a sudden the vehicle will just stop anywhere at any given time. Ive owned a numerous of vehicles and when it comes to an alternator you usually have some indication that it is going bad. I took it to the nearest repair shop and the confirmed that the alternator was the reason for the vehicle stopping completely on me.
My vehicle has a recall (campaign 17v-741) for the alternator. I took my vehicle to my local Dodge dealer for repairs and was advised that since my VIN is not in the Dodge recall database, the repair cannot be done under recall and I would have to pay for the repair/replacement of the alternator. My "battery saver mode" light illuminates regularly under load such as air conditioner. To date, Dodge refuses to honor the recall.
