Went to the store and got into the car and the gear shift want come out of park. I had to have the car towed to the house because of this problem. I looked it up and it seems to be a common problem with the Dodge Chargers.
Gear shifter was put in park would not come out of park could not put it in gear, 2007 and 2008 has been recalled for that problem and service has been accommodated at dealership.
When engaged in park, will not disengage, even with use of emergency release detent. Will only release with use of hidden release at front of shifter, and if reengaged into park, will reoccur.
My 2007 Dodge Charger had coolant leaks that were repaired under warranty. I had to get a water pump replaced, under warranty. Now I am being told I have engine sludge from the engine not cooling properly. Why in the world is this not fixed under warranty?.
My car was recalled for the cooling fans letting my car overheat. The dealer replaces the fans and the asks if I want him to fix my overheating issue. I thought that was why my cooling fans were the issue. It stopped overheating for a month maybe at most the I had to have a new radiator, t-stat, and water pump. Within a couple weeks on my way to my doctor the temperature guage dropped to 140 and died. I started it up and it has a quick knocking noise that seem to tick too quickly toto be a rod plus the car doesn't die. I turned it off after hearing the knocking and had it towed home. Now my brother is letting me drive his car and mine is a yard ornament.
Everytime I check my oil there is never any oil in there. I am constantly having to put oil in my car. The other night I was driving and my car just started shaking. The air and heat stopped working. I took my car to the shop and they said I needed a tune up and that my #2 spark plug had blown. I then had the tune up and #2 spark plug changed and my car still is not running right. I took it to another mehcanic who basically laughed at me and told me the 2. 7 enginge were horrible. He told me I had oil sludge and that I might as well not even bother getting my car fixed. I haven't even had this car a year yet. Dodge needs to replace all 2. 7 enginges.
My car failed to go into gear, which this matter in on recall but I was told by Dodge that my VIN was not in system under the recall, putting in the VIN could of been a error to. Human error do happen but the manufacture should stand behind their cars, I had to pay for the repairs in full, I then have to send in my original reciept before Chrysler will reimburse me $150 towards the repairs. I was without my car for 8 days.
Engine stalls intermittently driving down the road and at stoplights.
Gear shaft not shifting and there has been alot of complaints concerning this repair attention needed for recall ASAP!!.
The shifter stuck in park and we had to take the car to the dealership where the shifter assembly had to be replaced. Upon are arrival the technician stated that there were 3 other Dodge auto's were there for the same reason. Our neighbor has a Chrysler sebring which had to have the same repair just last year. As the Chrysler had a recall on it and we feel that the Dodge should also have a recall. Our car is not 5 years old and according to the dealership should not have had this type of repair at this time.
One incident. Transmission stuck in park. Occured after parking car. Dealership installed 4578029ae:shifter:replaced shifter.
Gear shift stuck in "park". There was a recall for some Chargers for this problem but not mine. Obviously, the same part is defective on mine as the part in the vehicles involved in the recall.
My car is stuck in park. Pressing the brake doesn't help and the shiftlock release doesn't help. No events lead up to the issue, I got in my car and couldn't put it in gear. Luckily I was at my house, but this could have happened anywhere.

My 2009 Dodge Charger and many others I know about will stall for no reason at any speed. It has happened to me on several occasions which results in loss of all power, steering, brakes etc. Have taken to dealer but since no computer codes were thrown, unable to find problem, help!!!!.
Vehicle occasionally loses power during normal driving. Throttle stuck wide open during acceleration from about 10 mph.
I have a 2006 Dodge Charger. When I first bought it, I had to take it back to the dealer 13 separate times for issues. They were never resolved fully. The dealer actually broke the window controls on the drivers side in front of me, and tried to tell me it was already like that. . . . Luckily, he was seen, and was dealt with. The newest issue, which I see via online research a lot of people are having is the shift kit. The park lock mechanism broke, and I could not get it out of park. We've removed the console, and every day, I have to push the broken piece of plastic down in order to get the car in gear. The dealer wants $450 to fix this, and I will not pay it. Hundreds of complaints have been filed. No action has been taken. The piece that broke is a pathetic bright pink piece of plastic that is as cheap as a toy from the dollar store, and I am not exaggerating. It's pathetic. It's unsafe, it's not right, and something needs to be done. Asap. I cannot believe that no one has issued a recall or safety call on this. There are several very reputable websites that sell the cheap piece that’s broken because hundreds and hundreds of people are reporting this broken. Something is very wrong here. Funny…the piece i’m referring to costs $49. 99 to replace, and is made out of metal. Dodge replaces it with the same plastic, which breaks a year later. And, they charge $450 to do it, as they replace the entire shift kit. Sad. I’ve contacted the website several times, and they provided a lot of help. Dodge; none.
Approaching traffic light transitioning from yellow to red, car is coasting at 20mph, proceeded to stop foot on the brake the brake was solid as the concrete pavement, the steering wheel could not move. The car did not stop proceeded forward hitting the car in front which was a fender bender, however total loss of a purchased brand new Dodge Charger which had gone to the service center every week after purchasing for a reset of the computer system jumping skipping stopping, however un - final answers it was always communicated the car was fine and good to go. As a result of the accident the ruling was not against me as a driver, however, an attorney who specilized in manufactured defects was a communication after several attorneys listened to the case but did not take on the representation. Also as a result now 3 years later, $35,000 back surgery, continued medical bills, perm disabl permit due to inability to function normally before accident excruciating pain day in and out. No help no car personal insurance paid everything / gap when the attorney took case could not find the totaled car? . . . . There has to be something that can be done about that. One attorney stated the company is responsible, however stated it is a case that would be major. Is one's debt and personal liability as a citizen not important enough to receive help towards this matter? I am afraid I will live in and suffer with this pain in debt til death! this is a case that falls in the gray area in the land of o well--- why shouldnt the dealership be responsible? why did the judge throw it out of court, to be against me? why cant I receive medical and loss of time an wages from an immediate emergency surgery? please help me I emailed the attorney general's office and was informed to connect with this line of communication. Please help. . . !!!! I have to work or I will be homeless now what?.
Both cars I got from the dealer broke down and had to be towed back to dealership. I told them I don't want to do business with them anymore . They never contacted the bank that the deal was no longer in affect and they needed to return the money. Now my bank has me and the owner of the first car that was sold to someone else. I called the dmv and was told its true the first car belongs to someone else. I need help this is fraud.
I bought my Charger on 11/03/06 with 13 miles on it. At 900 miles the engine check light came on. I took it to the dealer, they said an O2 sensor was bad, they replaced it. Then at 980 miles the engine light came on again. It was the same sensor, and the car was in the shop for 3 days. The dealer said everything was good to go. Then on December 27th the light came on again. I took it to the dealer and now they say it needs software for the computer for the engine. Currently I am waiting for them to call me when the part comes in. They said it is o. K to drive til then. . . . . . . The dealer has been very nice about this ,they have been doing a very good job. I just feel a brand new car shouldn't be doing this and I'm looking into the lemon law.
I have a 2006 Dodge Charger and noticed on the recall stats I get sent on the e-mail that several others have had trouble with their Chargers hesitating or stalling on take off. I have had the hesitation every since I bought the car in March of 2006. I had it into the shop once in midland, texas where I bought the car right after I bought it and they told me that it was how that particular car did and it was nothing to worry about. Seems like it may be a problem after all. I have right at 30,000 miles on the car now. It has continued to happen almost every time I accelerate. Sometimes it is worse than others.
