I went to drive my 2007 Dodge Charger and it was stuck in park. No other problems. I investigated and found out that Chrysler has a defective part in these cars. They want to charge the consumer to fix the problem although it is well known that it is a manufacturing problem. (its a cheap plastic pink release button that goes out at any given time causing the car to be stuck in park) this is not the consumer's problem this needs to be recalled instead I was told since I was the second owner of the car there is nothing they can really do. It costs roughly $500. 00 to be fixed. Really makes a happy customer question the quality of their service. .

My 2007 Dodge Charger had a part failure in the shifter mechanism that prevented it from being moved from park. This occurred at 8 pm at night on top of a parking garage when I had my family with me. It took over an hour to locate a towing company that could get to me because of the parking garage. The dealership informed me the problem was a cheap plastic part that had been recalled on the avenger but not the Charger and they had been replacing about a dozen per week. Dodge should recall this part and repay the owners that have already had to make the repair.
Gear shift sticks in park due to cheap plastic part designed to break but with no remedy other than full replacement of shifter. It appears to occur in large numbers if not every Dodge Charger years 2006-2009.
My 2006 Dodge charge keeps getting stuck in park and the pink release does not work either, I have to slide a steel wire all the way to the left in order to get it to give. There are a million forums and complaints based off of this exact issue and yet no recall because its not a safety issue? maybe not but it is obviously defective. My warranty is up and cant afford to fix the issue so I have to do this everytime I get into my car. How many complaints and forums need to go up before they make a recall for the defective part?.

Automatic door locks cycle uncontrolled to the lock position, several times a minute. Auto feature works, then continues. Lock mode only.
Haleigh is my 3 year old daughter, and we bought this car on 5/31, we had people at our house on 6/1 for a party so kids were in and out all day. Haleigh went in my car being curious, the doors all shut, and she could not open the doors because all 4 door handles are solid metal and were so hot that they burned her hand and she could not get out. When I found her she was almost passed out from the 125 degrees that it was in the car, and had to go to the emergency room. No life threatening injuries occurred, but could have easily since she could not get out of the car. I have also burned my hand on the door handles multiple times since then because they are solid metal. This needs to be changed, before a child gets serious injuries!!!!.
