My 2013 Dodge Dart is subject to a shifter cable safety recall. The vehicle has been at an authorized Dodge dealership in texas since November awaiting recall repair. The dealership has confirmed the vehicle is unsafe to drive, but the repair has been delayed for several months. No reliable transportation assistance has been provided during this extended delay. This safety recall has left me without a usable vehicle for an unreasonable amount of time.
The transmission bushing broke and the transmission was disabled. The steering wheel was locked and the key was unable to be removed. The safety of the driver and passenger were at harm on the highway when steering was disabled and the transmission could not be moved after stopping. The problem was produced and was forced to be repaired by a shop for the safety of the driver at expense of the driver. The vehicle was then brought to a Dodge dealership in margate florida, where the recall was closed, the issue was not fixed. The vehicle broke down immediately following this closure of the recall. The vehicle was inspected and claimed to be repaired by a Dodge dealership. This is not true. No warning lamps indicated this issue happening once of the two times it broke down.
06/08/2021. My daughter stopped to gas up at costco when a notice came up on the dash "engage parking brake to prevent rollback". She immediately called me to make me aware of it. Once home she again get this message. 06/09/2021. My daughter drove to school with no issues. However, leaving school she was going slowly over a speed bump when the car automatically shifted into park. She lost acceleration and the car rolled backwards off of the speed bump while she was wrestling with controlling the steering. The car shuts off and she was unable to start it again. She immediately called me and told me the message displayed again from yesterday "engage parking brake to prevent rollback". Now the car won't start. I am now on my way to the school when she calls me back to say it started and she is on her way home. I told her to be very careful. 06/10/2021. I drove the car while my daughter followed me to the dealership. On the way to the dealership at every stop the message displayed "engage parking brake to prevent rollback". While at the dealership I explained the problem and I had brought all repair documents that stated the same issue occurred in a repair with my son (twice), with me, and now with my daughter. It all stem from gear shift cable/bushings/tcm/transmission, which then was covered under warranty or recall. I emphatically didn't want to waste time with a diagnostic when I am sure its related to past repairs. The service tech was trying to convince me it could be something else and the diagnostics will tell them the true cause. I was reluctant but agreed for the diagnostic. I did state that what that diagnostic will show is that the transmission/recall is faulty. 06/11/21. The service tech called me to say the car coded p07b4 [park positioning sensor]. However he never called it a transmission park positioning sensor because in my opinion this part should be covered under the transmission warranty (see manual - parts covered - transmission:).
Steering wheel locked. The check engine light is on and and service power steering can only move forward and backwards wheels won't turn.
On 3 occasions. My clutch broke. I had it repaired 2 times and currently it went out again. I was driving during the time and lost power to my car. I also had replaced with the dealer my brake booster that went out 3 times. Frustrated.
I was driving to get my son pulled into parking spot put car in park well I thought it was I start to get out and car keeps going even after key was turned off. My car is was stuck in drive position the shifter cable came completely off! it happened three-four more times after I got the piece back on. Which one time was very dangerous and couldn't have been bad. Especially since I was driving with a child one out of four of the times.
Feels funny when you shift gears.
I bought a Dodge Dart 2013 limited edition (or was talked into it by your salespeople) I wanted this to be my last car and I actually really liked it. Then I started having transmission problems with the car shifting into neutral randomly. I took it to a Dodge dealer but the problem persisted. This happened three times and they said they did everything they could. A lemon law firm contacted me and said they could replace the car if I had 3 occurrences with receipts which I submitted to them. They said Chrysler was giving me $3900. I was confused because I thought they were giving me enough to replace the car. They explained Chrysler didn't want to do that. I actually forgot about it (that was 2016) and thought the issue had been fixed so I was happy. Now this past July 4th 2019 my transmission problems have returned. My car has 48,000 only and not even the Dodge extended warranty (which I wanted to now purchase) do not cover 2013 models. That speaks volumes to me. They know they sold me a lemon and one that is not safe. I can't afford a new car and have now learned that lemons are bought and sold back to the public. I will never buy or speak well about Chrysler again. You are a fraudulent company. I wanted a Honda originally but was talked out of it by neighbors who work for Chrysler. I will be calling deena centofanti from channel 2 fox to tell her I was sold an unsafe car and I am stuck with it. They already know that Chrysler knew the system design was faulty in 2012 but released the 2013 anyway. Shameful.
I was driving down the highway on my way to work in the morning, and coming around a turn my steering jerked to the right making my car swerve off the highway and through a couple yards, the accident left the car a total loss I have a 1 year old daughter and a wife what if they were with me and the accident was much worse than it was I could have been killed due to this car, I've had the car for about 3 years and in total it was in the shop for about 12 months of the time I have had it this is by far the worst car you can own and it is a death trap I would not recommend this car to anyone.
I purchased the car July 2017 and has been at the dealer 5 times due to problems. I had a reoccurring issue with the battery light coming up, the dealer found no issues with the battery. March 2018 the battery sign lit up followed by a slew of other signals, including a power steering lock signal, the car started shaking and the power steering locked. I was at the light making a left when this happened. I was able to pull the steering wheel hard enough to make the left and luckily found a parking lot where I could park since I was in a heavily transited area. Attached is a picture I took after I was able to safely park the car. The car was towed to the dealership and they found no issues with the car, I had to pay $250+ for this. November 2018, the bluetooth does not connect, the odometer is blinking continuously and the car shakes when at a stop. The dealership has had the car for three weeks and turns out to be that the bluetooth console needed to be changed ($900+ cost), a tune up was needed badly ($400+) and there was believed to be a problem with a piece of the transmission that was causing the car to shake. The powertrain warranty would cover the cost of this last issue if it was found to be that this was the problem. If it was found that the transmission part was not causing the shaking, we would need to cover the $600+ cost for the labor. We are in process of dealing this matter with a manager at the dealership, since we do not want to keep this car.

Power steering goes in and out due to shortage to terminal. Causes entire dash board to flicker or car not to start. Traction control comes on middle of driving and will not turn off.
Takata recall this car is garbage ! Dodge shouldn't make this model anymore. I've been having problems two years in of having this car. I had to start changing tires so many time. Air always goes down, tires keep getting those air balls. (no I don't park close to the sidewalk or hit the sidewalk) my steering wheel always cracks everytime I turn it. My whole car shakes ! I press the brakes and it goes crazy. My engine messed up too (it had water inside) I had to fix some heating hose ! my window button stuggles to go up ?I had to change my battery three time ! keep in mind I got this car new. Zero everything ! for 6 years ! I've put so much money on a car I haven't even finished paying ! a car needs thing to get fixed but not like this! just isn't normal. Garage of a car! Dodge Dart sxt 2013 ! don't waste your money or time on this car. Save yourself.
I parked the car on the side of the street. An hour later, after starting the car and placing the gear in drive, I could not switch gears to reverse or park, and could not shut the car off and remove the key. The gear shift was stuck in drive, and would not disengage even when the battery was disconnected. The car had to be towed. Mobile technician found that the gear shift cable was broken.
Drove the vehicle to a store and was unable to place it in park and remove the key from the ignition or turn off the car, subsequently discovered the shift linkage grommet, that maintains connection had failed, ended up having to replace the entire linkage and replace grommet.
I have an ongoing issue about the battery sign coming on sporadically. I took the car 3x to the dealer and nothing was found to be wrong. A couple of month later at least 5 different signs came up while driving, a warning about the power steering also appeared briefly and the steering wheel locked while driving. Luckily I was able to maneuver the car to a safe zone. I had the car towed to the dealership and yet again they found nothing, they told me that no signs appeared. Attached is the one picture I was able to take once I was able to move to a safe zone. Im just scared to drive the car and have this happen again, more so since went that happened I had my two small children with me in the car. I also have a video but I cant upload it.
In the last 2 weeks, my power steering has stopped working 5 times. At first I could pull over turn the car off and it comes back on. The last time was 2 days ago and now power steering will not come back on at all. There are currently no warning lights on indicating the problem and I could not pull any error codes with my scanner. Every time it has happened, I was on the interstate going around 65-75 mph.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. While driving 35 mph, the battery warning and service abs warning indicators illuminated, and the steering seized. The contact stated that the vehicle started sputtering and several electrical functions became inoperable, including the steering, instrument cluster, and radio. The contact turned off the vehicle and was able to restart it after several attempts. Once restarted, the vehicle vibrated abnormally. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The failure occurred twice. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.
My radio with the touchscreen has been replaced 4 times I believe due to an electrical issue-continued to flicker on and off. The visor fell off, now there are no interior lights. Brake recall repair done, but now engine light on, steering wheel locked up while in reverse, all system lights came on looking like failure. Car was accelerating on its own, but when putting foot on gas it would have no effect. Now the car does not start or even turn over including when jump started. I have documentation of the radio repair and brake recall and have videos on my phone of the acceleration with foot on the brake.
The contact owned a 2013 Dodge Dart. While driving approximately 25 mph, the steering wheel seized without warning. The brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to stop and crashed into a creek. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v800000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. While accelerating from a stop sign at 10 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The dashboard, radio, and other electrical functions failed. The contact attempted to steer the vehicle, but crashed into a parked vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and later to a body shop for repair. The vehicle was not destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 24,723.
I, sylvia, never received a recall notice on my Dodge Dart 2013 car. I purchased this car on my birthday of Nov. 30, 2013 at carl gregory Chrysler Jeep Dodge hyundl albany, GA. When I go to the shop and change my oil, I will ask the clerk if there a recall on my car. The clerk's answer is no, after looking on her computer. My car stall after start-up as well as hard to start sometime after I put the key in to start up my engine. I am having problem with my car and still paying payments. I purchased this car new and I should not have problems so early in life. Furthermore, I really like my car but having these problems is getting me to not trust my car. Please, look into this issue for me as soon as possible.
As I was approaching a traffic signal, my car lost power and did a half shut off (lost power items, but did not actually lock the steering out as if the car was in park). I was still moving and was doing approx. 20-25 mph when this happened. My power steering, brakes, etc were all lost and there was an overwhelming sound coming from the stereo system (sounded like a bomb going off in the car. ). I was able to get the car stopped and pulled over to a turn lane that was not in use without getting hit. Once I got the car stopped, it started back up and I was able to take the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer has not been able to diagnose the problem. This is not my first issue with the car. It also has had 'service transmission' errors and gave us numerous issues on christmas day as it would not start when we were headed home. Each time, the dealership was notified and they had the car for 92 days while they rewired the electrical system. These cars are not safe, even after having the electrical rewired, the car is still sending error messages and now shutting down while driving it. These need to be recalled.
Driving at 30 mph, the lower control arm snapped in two causing the wheel/tire to disengage, turning to a 90 degree angle to the vehicle, which became inoperable. Had the vehicle for 13 days when this happened. Incident is now being investigated by Chrysler.
I was coming off the highway and was on the brake slowing my 2013 Dodge Dart from 65 to 40 then to 20 to take a sharp right turn, in the turn the string went dead and for a brief second was unable to turn almost causing an accident with another car and that was the second time that has happen the first was with my whole family, I was driving around in a parking lot. Also this car has an airbag light on for the passenger seat , the car over heats and the backup cam no longer works the battery is now dead and were unable to drive, were out of warranty by a little over 500 miles and the dealership will not fix the issue unless I pay more money to fix this paper weight. I can drive it after getting a jump but the electrical system fail to work the speedometer fades in and out and the gauge drops to 0mph. My car was sold to me after replacing a power control module and has been replaced a second time. This car is not worth the $21000 spent and I should be given back half of my money. My car still overheats after many dealership visits over just that very problem and every time I pick it up it seem like something new I was wrong (( !! I bought this car to travel back and forth monthly from san antonio to ft. Hood for my military obligations im a pissed a veteran who wants my car to work like it was advertised! because that is what I paid for!! )).
The contact owns 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated while making a right turn over a bump there was a loud thud sound and the vehicle would jerk and veer to the right. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced the spring kit, adapter, strut mount, insulator and the strut. The steering wheel continued to pulsate. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 145,000.
The steering seems to lock up on the car when you want to steer to right it will not turn until you go left a little and then back and you may go long time before it does it again, my son is driving the car and he seem ok with what is happening because he does not panic about it but is worried about if other drivers that would panic, his folks are not happy about it. . . It has been to dealership and they tried to get it to do it and of course it will not do it for them and they say they can not drive the car at 70mph for company reasons, [xxx](my son) says this has happened about 7 times now and every time he has the cruise set and traveling a distance when it happens, his fear is one of these times it may not work turning to left and there he will be setting along road some place. . . If you want to talk to [xxx] some time I can give you his number(cell) an you could talk to him for more information about it. So after long story has there been any one else with this issue that has contacted you. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

While braking, this winter, my abs would activate causing my dashboard and radio to go blank. It was only until recently that I learned that while the screens are blank and rebooting my cars power steering system is also inactive. After 4 attempts at fixing this issue all the dealership is telling me it that it is a grounding issue.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the steering contact experienced extreme difficulty in controlling the steering of the vehicle. I purchased a 2013 Dodge Dart sxt multiair turbo 6-speed manual on 11/23/2013 and within a week, I took the car back for service being that the wheel was off-centered to the left and the service department aligned all four wheels. Shortly after that, I began to notice that the steering wheel would stick when I tried to turn as if it had locked while driving straight then unlock when engaged in turning. Also, I noticed that while driving along in 6th gear around 65-70 mph, I would hear a thumping or something going on underneath the car like something was loose, or a flapping sound. I am going to take the car back to the dealership to see if they will do anything about it but have documented the complaint up here for my records. My car only has about 8,500 miles on it and also I see there are recalls on the side airbag, parking brake, and the powertrain. All of these recalls were placed prior to the date of purchasing my car and I will question the dealership ASAP to see if these things were fixed prior to the purchase of the car. I will submit further updates on this site once I see how this dealership handles this!!!.
Not sure if it is a real concern, just checking to see if any one else has had issue with steering, my son drives this car and says when driving, when he goes to turn the steering wheel it is like it is locked -- (example) when went to turn left it would not turn, let off or turn wheel to right then he could go ahead and it would let him turn to left, going to get it to dealer to be checked but I was wondering if any one else has said any thing about the steering on this car? it is a sweet car and this has been the first issue with it. My son said it does not do it all the time. Please let me know if the has been an issue reported or if this is a first. I have been in touch with Dodge an we are getting on top of it. By all means I am not complaining I just was wondering. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The car runs great, but the mpg are around 25. 5 to 26. 5, the sticker said 24 to 34 mpg. Like two months ago I heard noise like something was vibrating inside of the car, but recently when I make stop, I turned on the air condition and the car started to vibrate in the steering wheel and of course depend of the level of vibration I feel and it is transmitted from the hand to the chest and specially it I am stressed because the traffic I can get nervous, and it is worse when the speed in the a/c is increased.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that the vehicle rolled away and crashed into a tree while the emergency parking brake was engaged. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who advised that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number 13v124000 (parking brake). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact also stated that the steering wheel electrical module failed and the steering wheel features would not function. The sound system had also failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 1,400.
While driving approximately 70 miles per hour down the highway my Dart suddenly lost all power. The steering wheel acted as if there was no key in it and locked up. The breaks slowly applied themselves, and the vehicle would not shift into neutral so that I could move over to the side of the road. I have worked with the company and the dealership and it will not duplicate for any reason. However, I have been having issues with power of the vehicle every month since January. Wither it be not starting or failing to key less start. This is the first time for complete power failure. Chrysler refuses to do anything about it and wants me to drive it around with a black box in it.
