general problems of the 2013 Dodge Dart - part 1

While driving the vehicle the shifter link bushing detached from the cable and came off the transmission causing the shifter to start floating and I lost all control of the shifter so I could not take my car out of the gear it got stuck in.

The car has a mind of its own but now it's a constant problem. I will be trying to go and it's like it shift to nuetural and I loose all powers so I keep pushing gas tell it does something. So I don't cause a accident. When this happens the middle screen where shows speed and stuff like reboots . It will also sometimes say gear not availiable. There is no warning lights on. I try not to drive unless I have to because it dangerous if the. Car does not give trouble backing our of my house it will do fine. And if it has trouble backing out of driveway it won't stop loosing power any time I have to stop or slow down. I did have 1 recall done last year when I left dealer ship it worked fine for like 7 days and back to doing the same thing. The vechicle is availiable for inspection I'm going to take it back to Dodge because it's going to kill me and others.

First is the cruise control - it sometimes work, sometimes does not. But when it does, it will at times kick on and off while in use. Scary at times. The next is the loss of power on the freeway. There are times when it will just bog down and not accelerate. Other times it will catch and shift hard, other times will jerk. When these times occur, the check engine light comes on. But then will go off after a period of minutes.

The failure was when I was shifting gear . So I shifted 5 to 4,3,2 and thats when it stayed in 2 gear . I exit the freeway and drove the street to my home . The vechicle at that point only travel 21 mph . 2 years prior I had a similar issue on the freeway and my kids where with me at the time of the failure. So I had to pull to the shoulder and try to encounter the issue at a peaceful way . Like I said I had my kids with me and 9:45 p. M. . So I tooked me 2 hours to move the vehicle to a safer place and had my friend give me a ride home . Next day I have the tow truck picked up the vehicle and take it to Dodge dealer . They fixed it with no charge towards me . But now this second time they are not trying to help out . Either Toyota who sold the car . Or Dodge the dealer. Or Chrysler the manufacturer wont help. And Dodge is saying the vehicle requires a new motor at the cost of $13,000 dollars.

On June 16, 2021 I exited a parking lot and joined a line of traffic that was stopped for a stoplight. Traffic began to move and as I stepped on the accelerator the engine started roaring and the car accelerated uncontrollably across the opposite lane and into a utility pole. It was totaled and I was left badly bruised by the airbag explosion; I have also found I have strange noises in my ears and am seeing an otolaryngologist for that. The car has ben disposed of and I don't know where it is. I am fortunate that there was no oncoming traffic, no one was on the sidewalk and I was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The only one who may have inspected the car was the insurance adjuster. There was no warning of any kind and I had never experienced this before.

I was driving and while I was in heavy traffic so I tend to always put it in the n position so that I can rest my leg while the emergency brake is on and once traffic started to move I attempted to put it in the d position to move forward and started to notice a it to be difficult to move the automatic stick but did not really think much of it but I knew once I get back into my state I would take it to get looked at. Once on the interstate high way of a 3-hour drive, I started to worry since my car sounded like if I had a rock bouncing in my transmision so aproching to a toll pay stand I decided to put it on n position to keep it running buy make a stop on the side and was not able to so I try to put it on d again to see if it responded and that was what made us know we were in trouble. I could not control my Dodge Dart.

I was driving home when I turned the corner to proceed on the highway my car would not speed up. I tried several times and it was only reving up the engine like it was stuck. I was able to slowly gain speed but no more then 45 mph. When I would try to gain speed it would reach high rpms but not go anywhere but then it would jerk hard and the transmission was making loud clanking noises like gears shifting more then they should. The engine light came on which it goes off and on all the time. I have also been putting more oil in the car then I've ever had to do. It is using oil and the gas fumes are still horrible from my last complaint and I am not getting good gas mileage like usual.

The transmission has been replaced the recalls all have been taken care of multiple times and yet the same problem I need a replacement vehicle I've spent way more than the vehicles worth.

6 speed Dodge Dart went into neutral and stopped accelerating while being driven on the freeway, car turns on but won't move forward or backwards when accelerated and in gear. I was able to get it over to the side of the road but then it had to be towed to my residence. I had a mechanic take a look at it and they believe it is a transmission motor control problem that other 2013 Dodge Darts have also encountered.

Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that when the vehicle was driven for about 20 minutes, the shifter went into neutral. Also, when the vehicle was at a stop, it shook and went into neutral. There was no warning. The contact stated that the recall history showed that the vehicle was repaired in 2016 for NHTSA campaign number: 15v542000 (power train) by an unknown dealer. Three years later, the vehicle the vehicle was taken to the yakima Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram dealer, located at 2300 goodman rd, union gap, wa 98903 where the tcm was replaced. The technician also diagnosed that the shifter needed to be replaced. The contact replaced the shifter. However, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,836. Fe.

I was was at a stop light. The light turned green, I gently pressed on the gas pedal to accelerate. The car made a loud revving noise. The car would not accelerate and felt like it was in neutral. I took my foot off the gas pedal and pressed the brake. The revving noise stopped and I put my foot on the gas pedal to try again. It then moved forward at a normal speed.

I was driving on a busy highway. Have a manual transmission. Rpms started going up and down,like I was revving the engine,but was not pushing in gas pedal. Put clutch in to get off an exit, and the clutch stuck to the floor and the car would not go into gear. Left on very busy highway with a child!.

Feels funny when you shift gears.

The hydraulic shift actuator will fail - oftentimes/seemingly in the heat & sun after prolonged exposure. This causes the vehicle to a. If it is not driving, you will get the "service transmission error" and the vehicle will not turn on; b. If you are driving, shifting becomes dangerous and erratic. Note: this isn't covered under your warranty because it has likely expired. If you have a third party warranty, you will need to "prove the failure". With that being said, this appears to happen towards the afternoon/evening in my case (when it's the hottest and has sat in the sun all day). It has shifted erratically on me multiple over the last few weeks - I am highly suspect that this part may become a future recall part. My vehicle is under 47,000 miles, so this should not be an issue. Considering other transmission problems, I would be aware. It has almost caused multiple accidents for me (I have a clean mvr). The erratic shifting will happen at all speeds.

Check engine light always on reads under boost for the turbo, does not pick up speed at all for having a turbo.

I have taken this vehicle into elk grove Dodge 4 times for the transmission safety recall. Each time the transmission goes out. June 15, 2018 was the last time the transmission went out. Elk grove Dodge replaced the transmission. With approximately 59,893 miles on the car. Approximately 1. 5 months ago 6 months later I was on the free way and all of a sudden the vehicle jumped out of gear and went into neutral. I then lost power to the engine and almost crashed into the center divide. I contacted elk grove Dodge when I finally got home with the vehicle. The service manager advised me that they were not going to honor their warranty even if it was under safety recall. I contacted Dodge resolutions dept. Spoke to a guy by the name of chance. This guy is taking his dear sweet time in helping me. This vehicle is a lemon and Chrysler is starting to refuse to do anything about this problem.

While driving on the highway and on city streets, the dash board lights went out and the needles for the speed and rpm went all the way to the bottom like the car was cut off. The car was still in motion. The dashboard said service electrical breaking system and the engine light eluminated. It did this more than one time. It will flicker the warning on the dashboard and then at one point the car cut off while on city streets. At another time when the message flickered on the dashboard the battery light came on. This has happened multiple times and I am concerned about my safety in this car as well as my children. The radio cut off and the eventually cut back on.

Over three times while driving my autostick not available and service transmission light has come on. Car sputters and comes to a stop. Once it happened on a 23 mile bridge where I was almost in an accident because of it. Dealership has had car over 5 times and the second transmission failed same day I got my car back. I still do not have my car back.

While driving on the mountain roads to driving on the freeway to driving any where my turbo cuts off and I lose almost all power causing me to loose power going up a steep hill and almost get rear ended at least 3 times. Further more when I'm getting ready to merge onto the freeway and it cuts out causing me to almost be hit by truckers. I get a burning smell coming from the engine bay smells almost like oil or wire smell. My speed control is non functioning and my ebrake is also damn near inoperable. I want to know why there hasn't been a total lemon law for 2013 Dodge Darts they are not safe to drive for the owner and anyone else on the road . So if this is a national highway transportation safety administration why is it not recalled!!!!!.

Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that while driving at different speeds, the clutch pedal went to the floor without warning. The failure recurred three times. The vehicle was towed to three different dealers, including the nelson auto center, inc dealer (218-998-8878, located at 2228 college way, fergus falls, mn 56537) where it was diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure by email and no response. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000. Fe.

Car gets to about 190 degrees and the service transmission message appears and the check engine light comes on and car goes into limp mode and will not come out of first gear. Once car is shut off it will not turn on for about 45 minutes to an hour even after disconnecting the battery. After 45 minutes to an hour car will start and go about 15 miles and then back into limp mode and will not come out of first gear again. This is very hassardist.

Speed control shuts down without prompting or warning at highway speeds and will not re-engage without shutting off the ignition and restarting the vehicle. Speed control sometimes will not engage without shutting the vehicle down and restarting the vehicle.

This has happened about 6 or 7 times. I start my Dart and it will not shift into gear. It the clutch will be all the way to the floor and it still will not shift. It has happened a few times when I was driving. It scared me I was glad I was not on a busy street or going really fast. It is also stalling when I have done nothing to make it stall. It will be running and then nothing. It has been scary when this happens. I drive for work and with out my car I can not earn a living. So I have made it work. I am getting worried that something is wrong with my car.

Vehicle approached stop light, accelerator pedal was released and brakes applied. Vehicle came to complete stop and was at idle speed. Engine rpm suddenly increased to near 5k. Operator had witness in car. Witness observed operator to have foot on brake and not on gas. Fca notified due to lack of response to recall on tcm that had been over 18 months. Fca set appointment with dealer. Dealer advised that fca sent engineers to inspect car at dealership. Dealer advised car was being held for multiple days due to issue. Dealer advised this is not a known issue for the make, model and year. Outcome of fca engineer inspection not known at this time.

"dode Dart recall" I received a postage a few months ago about a recall for my Dart, everytime I have tried to contact allstar about the recall they have informed me that the parts have yet to arrive. , I have had my car a year and a half. Currently everytime I start my car it is saying service transmission on the dash. On several ocassions the car has automatically went into the neural shift, while driving causing me to completly stop in the middle of traffic!!!!!I have almost been into about 4 accidents because of the glitch with my transmission, the air also will work and blow out hot air on one side. Everytime I stop at a stop sign the car struggles to pull off causing my car to jerk tremendously I am destined to get this issued resolved . Allstar still have not contacted me back about the recall, I need my car fixed ASAP.

While driving on the highway in the fast lane, my gas pedal went all the way to the floor and my car lost all acceleration and steering became hard to turn. When this happened most of my car engine lights were blinking and when I placed the car in park the vehicle didn't notice it was in park. Thankfully I was able to get off to the emergency shoulder. I took the car into the dealership where they told me there was a recall notice in August 26th which was just sent out to Dodge Dart owners. The dealership told me it would cost me 1,500-2,000 to fix the problem, money which I do not have so I traded in my car with negative equity, and the dealership, I believe was very non-professional and took advantage of the situation. They also showed me an incorrect nada price chart for the trade-in value to my car.

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that the maintenance warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. In addition, the speedomer failed to display intermittently. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v542000 (power train); however, the parts to do the repair were not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 53,554. Parts distribution disconnect.

Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that while driving at 10 mph the accelrator pedal seized and the vehicle crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The contact stated the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact stated that there were no injuries sustained in the crash. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 31,000. Ah.

I have not been notified at all on my recalls. There has been several things I've called my dealership on and I thought it had been fixed not knowing it was a recall. But it is not fixed. My transmission won't let me put car in reverse very easy. My car engine rpms get higher when I approach to stop. It acts like it's not getting enough fuel st times like it cuts out. My bluetooth is hard to connect. My front driver tire has wore out 2 side walls tires but has never went flat but never shows it's very low but it is never the same as others. My car front driver makes a noise like suspension is messed up and it's very rough riding. I no longer get good gas mileage. When I go to park my car it wants to roll aft err being put in park. The breaks are very touchy. Barely graze the pedal and you'll hit the steering wheel. I wanted a new car all my life and after 35 years I was finally able to get one and I'm still in the same position as before. Please help on what to-do considering I've yet to even receive anything about my car having any recall. And I've got 2 kids that I'm raising alone andi'm it says can cause accident why can't I get a replacement car till they get the parts to make my car safe. I'm very unhappy.

While accelerating from a stand still on to a freeway or any road with a speed limit above 25 mph is very dangerous in this car. When you step on the accelerator pedal the cars does not respond very fast and takes a few seconds before it actually gets up and moves to a good speed. This issue happens every time you accelerate, this has been an issue since I bought the car. I have had many close calls while merging into traffic.

I have been having the same issue and a burning smell happening. In October the dealer replaced the tcm at 33,000 miles and stated I was lucky to be under warranty since it would cost $600+ out of pocket. Now on christmas morning I had the check engine light, service transmission message, and autostick not available message display. I was able to limp home to have r, n, d show gear not available. After waiting I turned the car on and the messages cleared. Then 2 days later I was an hour late to work since the messages and shifting problem occurred on the highway. During traffic stoppages I could not get up to speed fast enough and almost caused an accident. The message and issue cleared again when I left work and I drove home but now it shifts at 5,000+ rpm when accelerating after a stop sign. Burning smell is back and car is sluggish. Seems like Chrysler is waiting for enough people to die before addressing the issue. Currently have 39,000 miles on car. Before the issue in October there was also a "software update" for this after I had it about a week with 500-600 miles around mid August 2013. I purchased this car new to have reliable transportation for work. Now it seems I have an unreliable car with loan payments and dealer service costs since Chrysler doesn't cover transmission problems with the power train warranty apparently.

Vehicle threw an error message on the led dashboard about servicing the transmission. Unable to place car in reverse or drive. After messing with it for a while (shutting vehicle off and turning back on, pausing for a few minutes) the vehicle would finally work again. This seemed to happen during the middle of the year and towards winter with the recall eventually taking place. (2014). I argued with the dealership to provide something for transportation since I had no other options. After arguing and finally getting a rental they offered to pay 3 days. It took them multiple days to look into the issue and they found low transmission fluid. There was a software update to take care of the recall as well. This year almost 6 months since the last incident the same issues are occurring. About two weeks ago I came across the same issues. It took a week to get an appointment with the local dealer and I had to borrow a vehicle since the car has trouble accelerating with these issues. They performed a software update and it seemed to work for a week. Today the engine wouldn't start but the cars computers turned on. After testing different steps the car finally turned on but the acceleration is clunky and doesn't shift appropriately.

Issues with transmission, gears and power. After parking my car and attempting to restart the car would not turn on, multiple lights came on the dash board, and message read that my car did not recognize the gear. Was not able to start car. It was towed to the dealership. On another occasion, I was driving about 30 mph and my car stop working, lost all power and it took about 5 minutes before I was able to use the gears. On multiple occasions the car wont recognize the gears used and it will act as though it is in neutral. I have also experienced a decline of power while driving as well as back firing in the engine when cylinders misfire. Heated seats don't always work and the key fobs don't always work.

While accelerating the vehicle began to randomly sputter/hesitate. Check engine light illuminated with fault code (p0352) and continued to sputter/hesitate during acceleration process. After diagnosis it appears the engine's ignition control system is failing and has been for some time. According to dealership, this is not covered outside basic warranty or any known recall.

I wash stopped at a red light when vehicle motor started revving up all the way to where the tachometer was fully in the red. My foot was not on the accelerator and nothing was pressing the accelerator down. There were several cars in front of me and as well behind me. I could not get the car out of drive as it crept forward. I had to turn ignition off to stop the car! when light turned to green and the other cars had moved forward I then started the car and pulled it to the roadside. Turned the car off again and restarted the car. Everything seemed normal and continued to drive to my destination. Later driving the car home was definitely an adventure of pure nerves due to the scare this incident. I have now contacted the Dodge dealership where the car was purchased and waiting now for an hour for someone to contact me back for an appointment. This was a very scary situation to have happened but thankful no one was hurt.
