In the event of having to panic stop, slamming on the brakes doesn't stop the car. The brake pedal goes all the way to the floor and I have to pump the brake before the car stops. This has happened multiple times with my 2016 Dodge Dart the last time was 2 months ago. This needs to be a recall.
I received a safety recall on my vehicle in October, and it is now almost February and there is still no remedy. This safety recall is the transmission shift cable a0c. The recall states: "this can cause an unexpected and unrecoverable loss of park function and/or vehicle movement in an unintended direction which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning and/or injury to others outside the vehicle. " this is putting myself and others at risk. The dealership has confirmed the issue and has no remedy. They informed me to wait for the remedy. My vehicle has been developing the symptoms of this recall for about 3 years. The key gets stuck in the ignition, the car does not go into or out of park easily, it sticks. After I park my car rolls backwards. My vehicle does not feel like its in park. The shifter has become stiff and does not want to move. The form says " do not drive" on mopars official recall. I do not feel safe driving this car.
Brake booster.
Was stopped, with foot on brake dropping kids off at school heard a pop and hiss. Brake pedal became rock hard, and car rolled into kids crossing road for the school. I seen this issue is for 2013-2014 it should be extended to include 2015-2016 also. As they continued to install parts with known issues until the car was dissolved. I have attempted to source parts. All brake boosters for this car have been recalled, with no timeline for remedy. Part 77215 I have also tried the dealership, they said none available and don't offer a timeline. This car is still financed, and now unrepairable. How is that even a thing?.
This complaint is additional information for original complaint 11535053 7/28/2023 I have diagnosed the issue I have taken pictures of the entire brake booster that failed, and have held on to the parts for the investigation. The vehicle had the updated vacuum line. Still oil present in brake booster.
Oil contamination was found it then take booster and check valve causing low brake pedal and the brake pedal to fall to the floor. The 2013 and 2014 Dodge Darts with a 2. 4l engine had a recall. Recall number r63 / NHTSA 15v-800. “the brake booster on your vehicle may experience engine oil migration from the vacuum pump, through the vacuum supply tube, and into the brake booster. Prolonged brake booster diaphragm exposure to engine oil could cause the diaphragm to fail. This could lead to a loss of brake booster assist and/or an air leaking sound. A loss of brake booster assist could require the driver to apply additional brake pedal force to stop the vehicle. The lack of brake booster assist could change the braking characteristics of the vehicle and cause a crash without warning. ” this recall needs to be extended to the 2016 models. I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle and there are no brake boosters available through the dealerships or after market.
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the brakes failed to stop the vehicle immediately. The vehicle proceeded forward while making a clunking sound before coming to a stop. The abs fail to respond as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the brake booster was contaminated with oil. The contact was informed that the brake booster vacuum line and pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.
There was no accident in this case. We lost brakes with no warning and the brake pedal got hard to press. So we changed brake pads and calibers in rear because had not be but few months on front brakes. Still no brakes they was then bleed to be sure and had little brakes and drove it home and the abs code came up and brakes went to floor. I then took it to mechanic and they check code and was abs service and he check abs brake module and was fine he then replaced the vacuum pump and still a hard brake pedal with further investigation he says the master cylinder and brake booster needs to be replaced. In doing some research on the Dodge Dart there is a recall for 2012-2014 Dodge Darts brake system which involves the vacuum pump and master cylinder and brake booster. We was able to avoid a accident but what if there are other Darts the same year as ours with same issues and aren’t as lucky.
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Dart. The contact stated while his friend driving at 60-70 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but emitted a loud popping sound. The contact's friend depressed the brake pedal all the way to the floorboard but it hesitated to respond, causing more than 10 feet in stopping distance delay. The warning message "braking system failure" illuminated. The contact's friend was able to continue to drive the vehicle. However, the failure reoccurred while driving to his residence. The contact, a certified mechanic, diagnosed that the brake booster had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,300.
The vehicle got too hot, almost all the electric system of the car had very little energy and blinked, the air conditioning takes a long time to work either to defog the windows, heat or cool. The radio is not working properly. Lights are not level. Emergency equipment is missing as well as an emergency repair tire. And also when I am driving it accelerates and brakes automatically and suddenly. Since I bought this car it has given me many mechanical problems.
Multiple occurrence: car will stall while driving, losing brakes. The lights on dash will start flashing wildly and the wind shield wipers will start going on its own when turned off. Car will not start back again for a long while. The air system will not work-no heat or air conditioner, just stopped working. Very dangerous situation, car is unsafe. I'm not sure how it has a high rating in safety.
Anti-lock brake system service light comes on and off as well as the traction control light. The antilock brake system is not working at all and skid control doesn't work either. Brakes are hard to push often and vehicle is more and more reluctant to stop. The vehicle is always in motion. Stearing is harder when the vehicle slows or stops also. The issue began at the same time as the antilock brake issue. Check engine light also came on. All lights where cleared at my last service but came back on immediately from leaving the dealership I serviced it at. I have kids I transport in this vehicle and failing brakes under 90000 miles is a big deal. Approximate mileage is 83000.
A while back vehicle taken into local dealer for two isolated incidents of vehicle rolling when coming to a stop regardless of the speed (dealership kept vehicle trying to recreate issue unsuccessful as for nothing wrong appeared and no codes had registered. ) then yesterday 7/2/2020 sudden while driving on city streets and coming to a complete stop, notification appeared, saying, "engage park brake to prevent from rolling. " vehicle was continued to be in used in city until parked for a period of about and hour after first notification. Engine was started yet vehicle would not change into any gear and began to roll while parked at a local business.
Put my car into reverse as I was backing out brakes felt stiff and hard took time to slow down. I had to use the hand brake to stop the car. I have not driven my car since I have been away for work. I see a few other people have had this same problem.
Emergency brake stopped working on 4/20/19, so I had an auto shop repair it 4/30/19. The emergency brake stopped working again yesterday, 5/16/19.

While driving this car at multiple speeds, the car slows down and comes to a complete stop, I hear a noise and the gas pedal vibrates, the steering and gas pedal locks up. This event has happened 3 times within four days leaving from my garage, on the interstate and a city street. The car was taken to the dealership lakeland Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram and I was told the car was driven by the technician 11 miles and there was no incident and at this point the car can no longer be driven due to a gash in the tire. However, a multi-point inspection, oil change and tire rotation was done on the vehicle 8/22/2017 and a gash in the tire was not noted on any paperwork nor was it reported as a problem.
