Dodge Dart owners have reported 28 problems related to suspension (under the suspension category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Dodge Dart based on all problems reported for the Dart.
The vehicle experienced a failure involving the automatic transmission gear shift cable (recall aoc 2013–2016). The gear selector indicated the vehicle was in “park,” but the transmission was not fully engaged in park due to the defective shift cable/bushing. This created a significant safety risk, as the vehicle was capable of rolling unexpectedly after being placed in park. This condition puts the driver, passengers, pedestrians, and surrounding property at risk of injury or damage, especially when parked on an incline or in populated areas. There were no clear or consistent warning indicators prior to the issue. The vehicle appeared to be safely secured, which increases the possibility of an accident or death because the driver may exit the vehicle believing it will remain stationary. This issue is consistent with a known recall involving the shift cable assembly. The defect appears to be intermittent and not always easily reproducible, but it directly impacts the vehicle’s ability to remain securely in park. At this time, the vehicle has not received a complete or reliable remedy, and the condition raises ongoing safety concerns. The component can be made available for inspection upon request. Because this defect affects a critical safety function and can lead to unintended vehicle movement, it presents a serious hazard. I am submitting this complaint to document the issue and request further investigation and resolution.

I would like to report that the shifter link cable has disconnected from the transmission due to the rubber garment rotting out, so the vehicle loses all power to drive all our power to go into gear, which could cause an accident.

The vehicle history does not show any type of accidents. The vehicle history says that the vehicles airbags are in tact. In reviewing my contract from the dealership there is a page that states the vehicle has no airbags. The airbags not being present means the have been deployed due to a collision, right? im concerned that the vehicle is not the vehicle aligned with the VIN. Visually inspecting the physical VIN sticker it has rips and is torn is some places. The odometer is always blinking. I am concerned that it may have been altered. Took it in for a alignment at a shop, but the shop said the could not complete the alignment.
Vehicle was sold without airbags.
I have had so many problems with this vehicle. I have had to replace two coils, had the air conditioner fixed, had to replace my rear shocks, which caused me to have to buy two new rear tires, the windshield wiper motor was replaced, my car was burning oil until I got a recall for that. Now my blower fan for the heater is not working, I only have 66000, miles on this car. All these issues could really cause dangerous problems. When my 1st coil went out I couldn't get my car restarted in the middle of town. When the 2nd coil went out my car would barely move and this happened before I got the recall for the engine oil problem. Now I will have to repair the blower fan because the defroster and heat aren't working.

So I bought a 2014 dodgde Dart gt a month gone I noticed that the motor would move on the right. So I bought the motor mounts and replaced it 1 week after I replaced it same thing keeps happening I took off the mount and replaced it w more expensive mount anther week passed and that same mount gave out making it 2 replaced. Plus the 3 the dealership had done took it too valors dealership and they told me it was the rear mount that was bad also so I replaced all motor mounts and now same 2 mounts iv replaced are doing the same thing the first 2 I contacted the dealership and told them their must something that wearing this mounts out so quick. Cause I barly drive my car and I have to get this mount replaced for the 6th time.
I had to replace my engine, my transmission is slipping and not shifting gears properly. It has been doing it for almost 2 years now. The suspensions are horrible.
The air bags on this car failed to deploy from a bad car accident. My car was hit near the right front from a person that ran a red light. The front end damage was horrible to say the least as to where the insurance adjuster said to me that the car has to be totaled. Extensive frame damage from this accident and driver and passenger air bad never deployed for some unknown reason.
Cv joints making noise when turning. Reported when under warranty, but was told it was the cold. Radio and blue tooth went out, mileage at the time 40,000.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Dodge Dart. While driving approximately 15 mph, the contact heard a rattling noise emerging from the front driver's side of the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure occurred for 20,000 miles. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
Suspension is too easily adjusted. The littlest bump will throw out alignment and have the receipts to prove. Wheels bend easily, specifically 18 inch rims. Engine used too much oil and leaves your car to shut off automatically which is added as the issue is know to happen. I am 2,500 miles away from an oil change and I need to add oil because the car uses so much. The issue is know by Dodge and online thousands of people know about it.
At 44k there was a definite sway when taking a corner. I also noticed a drop to the front end. When I took it to my garage the first thing my mechanic noticed was my front tires need to be replaced due to cupping which he told me was from uneven wear due to my suspension. He also showed me where water was leaking into the struts on the front end. Definitely due to part failure and not normal wear and use.
Care starts overheating while the coolant is full and all other components are working. I have taken my vehicle to be repaired multiple times for the overheating and there is no sign of damage to be repaired. Also occasionally the oil seems to disappear from the engine with no leak or visible damage. . Car will occasionally stall out as well while I am driving. The car is in the shop and no one can tell me what is wrong with it. I have been driving 3 times and the car will turn off which is dangerous. The drive is extremely rough and is very uncomfortable it bangs really loud with any small bump. Car has a bunch of flaws and I have had it less than 2 years.
I started the car moved the shiftier to reverse took foot off brake started to reverse slowly. The car jumped forward on to curb and grassy area destroying under body shields maybe because of recall 19v-293.
Vehicle engine shakes for no reason, back camera doesn't work. I wasn't able to shift my vehicle until a part was bought that would allow vehicle to change gear. Suspension went out on front and back around 50000 miles til this day car shakes on a regular basis.
When putting the car into gear, and turning the wheel and starting to move, there is a popping/snapping sound coming from the front end. It has been in the shop three times for this issue. First time when it went to the shop, they replace front strut mounts. This lasted about 6 months and the noise has come back. Second time they said I needed a new tie rod. Replaced and within a week later, could hear the noise again. Took it back to the shop and they couldn't diagnose it. They loosened all the nuts and bolts on the front end, retightened/torqued them, and within a few days after leaving the shop, the noise came back.
Dodge Dart uses 1quart of oil 1,000 miles #2 does not shift in corect gear #3 rubbing in the frount end when stearing.

November 1 2015 while traveling on parkway 376 in pittsburgh pennsylvania . I became trapped behind a portion of a tree that had made it's way in the lane I enter the parkway. After being forced to stop, and put hazards on and attempt to merge into traffic. I was rear ended by a GMC envoy traveling at least 55 mph , forcing me into tree I was trying to avoid . My passenger and I left in ems vehicles, my car was returned to monroeville Dodge for repairs. After getting my car back I noticed when it rain, or snow the trunk of car would get wet. Whenever operating the car in speeds 35 mph or more , you could feel air coming through backseat. After returning the car to Dodge for inspection, I was told that they found nothing to cause problem. Car was inspected and pass with only requiring 2 rear tires. August 2 2016 , while at a stop sign, a driver driving a 2005 Honda pilot with original grill , rear ended the car, at this time I drove my car home, in the morning I noticed tires were bent outward. After filing a claim with the driver"s insurance CO, I learned that the car was not aligned after rear end hit on Nov 1 2015 that caused car to slam into the tree on parkway. After the insured fix only body , found not responsible for mechanical damage, once again the car was repair without wheel alignment by monroeville Dodge and offered back for operating on road. After taking the repair statement to other auto body repair shops, and pictures of both rear end accidents , I was advised the car could have sustained frame damages from Nov 1 2015, making it unable to be properly align and unsafe for operating. I'm currently still in a rental car my car is still at Dodge with no wheel alignment repairs after neither accident . Dodge has told both insurance companies ,(state farm Nov 1 2015, and geico Aug 2, 2016) wheel allignment was not needed. Please help.
Dodge Dart 2013 on August 2015 after the first flood in clarendon county by the clarendon landfield there was a deep hold in the pavement that wasn't notable because it was after 8:30 pm vehicle sustained damage to the front tires struts or shocks, been making a sound whenever turning the tires every since that incident took place. I've tried several times to contact the county but got no response. I was always put on hold for an hour or more so I just stop trying. I was driving at the time of the incident on a highway near the clarendon county landfield. On 9/07/2013 my car gear shift linkage came apart with no warning almost had an accident because with the link being broken I cannot drive my car can't shift to any other gear.
Takata recall at approximately 35000 miles I began to notice a squeak in my front end when I would go over speed bumps. Now, it has progressed to a loud thump when I go over bumps or turn my wheel to the right. It feels like the shocks/struts are worn out.
Noise produced when steering, caused by a strut mount that isn't properly sealed against moisture. Seems to be a common problem. A user on the Dodge Dart forums found a fix, but the issue still remains that the strut cap is not properly sealed, and no amount of replacing it will fix that without fixing the issue. For details on the fix: the issue is that the cowl plastic grill drips right into the strut mount, there is a cap there but it is not a water tight sealing cap. This allows the strut mount center, where the nut is, to flood and corrode. This rusts the strut mount bearings together and prevents them from spinning freely thus causing the rubber to rubber contact and moaning sound. If the mounts are not too badly rusted you can dry up all the water, apply a liberal amount of wd40, pb blaster or whatever you prefer, let it soak and then just turn your wheel from lock to lock. Clean the little cap and apply a small bead of silicone around the cap, install it and let it dry. This will create a water tight seal and prevent the strut mount damage so there needs to be a new part that addresses this issue, and a recall on all of the old parts because otherwise the strut mounts will rust and eventually fail.
Car sounds like struts and shocks are already going out. Car lunges forward sometimes when stopped. It changes rom auto transmission to manual transmission on its own which causes the car to stall service people just look at you like your a idiot when you complain about issues and the loud popping noise is horrible.

The contact owns 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated while making a right turn over a bump there was a loud thud sound and the vehicle would jerk and veer to the right. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced the spring kit, adapter, strut mount, insulator and the strut. The steering wheel continued to pulsate. I have had my 2013 Dodge Dart only 2 years and am so frustrated with the purchase. It has been in the shop several times with multiple issues. Just yesterday I had to put it in the the shop to have the navigation system fixed. The dealership stated there was not a problem that I needed to subscribe to the navigation service. Are they kidding me, I called Chrysler and they said it was a faulty unit, due to the fact it goes completely out with a white screen and it just does not work. The check engine light comes on constantly, the engine is running rough. I have already had to replace the battery at my cost of $150. 00 not happy about that one. The speedometer is incorrect, the interior light rattles and drives me crazy on long trips. I have had to taken it in for several front end alignments at my cost. It just will not stay aligned, its so frustrating and costly. But the real scary item is when it felt like I was in neutral while driving and had low to no engine power while driving, I slowly pulled over to the side of the ride and turned the key off and the engine was still going, I took the key out of the ignition and it was still cranked. I am praying that they get these cars off the road and put them in a buy back program because they are a danger to the public. I am so upset and disappointed with my Dodge that I will not purchase another.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the bolt that held the axle fell out and caused the tires to separate from the axle. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer. The dealer did not advised what caused the bolt to detach from the axle. The contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint. The failure mileage was 851.
