Cooling Fan problems of the 1998 Dodge Durango

Three problems related to cooling fan have been reported for the 1998 Dodge Durango. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2003

The fan on my Durango came off the water pump and destroyed the fan shroud the radiator, the idler pulley the belt and the water pump shaft. I was traveling about 60 mph and the fan can off and it cost me $855. 31 to fix I was wondering if there was a way to recoup the cost for the repairs to my Durango.

2 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 05/19/1999

The cooling fan, when engaged, requires a significant portion of the available horse power. The cooling fan, in normal traffic conditions on cool summer day in colorado, runs excessively. The change in available horse power between fan-engaged and fan-disengaged situations is a safety hazard in that one does not know how fast the vehicle will accelerate when the gas pedal is depressed fully. The difference is significant and striking.

3 Cooling Fan problem

Vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly lost power at highway speeds. Dealer has replaced the clutch fan on the cooling system and the problem still exists. The manufacturer has been notified.
