general problems of the 2004 Dodge Durango

I was coming home. As I pulled in my garage, hit the brake to stop and put in park. The vehicle started winding up to a point where my foot on the brake didn't matter. It accelerated forward, going through the wall of my garage, through my backyard, thru a chain guard, and into the corner of the museum wall next door. I was finally able to stop it completely by shutting the vehicle off. Despite the speed and impact to the front of my vehicle, the airbags never deployed.

Tl the contact owned a 2004 Dodge Durango. The contact crashed into another vehicle and none of the air bags deployed. The vehicle was going down a gravel road and the brakes malfunctioned. As a result, the contact's vehicle did not stop and t-boned the other vehicle. The entire front end of the contact's vehicle was damaged. The vehicle was totaled and the frame was fractured in half. The driver of the vehicle sustained whiplash and injuries to the neck and back. One passenger was transported by to the hospital via ambulance and another passenger was driven to the hospital. A police report was filed and the vehicle was towed from the scene. Tri lakes Ford (180 state hwy f, branson, mo 65616, (417) 334-7543) acknowledged the air bags being replaced on October 22, 2019, but denied any responsibility for the air bags not deploying. The contact called an attorney who advised her to call NHTSA. The failure mileage was 250,000.

Driving at 30mph on city road the Durango lost full power. No power steering, brakes or acceleration with gas. Had to put Durango in neutral and turn key off and back on. Afterwards it was normal again. Very dangerous and scared to drive with family in it.

When it rains water would pour into engine and effect electrical sysytem and cause engine problems engine lock up ,engine would automatically cut off and power steering would lock up while making a turn in my 2005 hemi Durango, the engine shut off in the middle of the road.

Wife was driving on highway and car completely shut down, engine, all power. No power steering, no power brakes, nothing. Happened multiple times. Last time, shut down on highway doing 60mph with multiple children in car.

I have a 2004 Dodge Durango SUV, since the day that I bought this vehicle I have complained about the brakes. I have been in several near misses because the vehicle will not stop. I have had it in the shop at least 5 times for this problem. I have had strangers drive it and watched there expressions when they try to stop. When I take it to the shop(Dodge) they tell me that it is within the standards. Most of these situations have occurred when the roads have snow or ice on them. At 10-15 mph the vehicle will not stop it just slides and the front end just shakes like the front end is going to fall off. I have had mechanics tell me that they don't see how I can drive it like I do that they would afraid to drive it. Something has to be done.

I recently got back from iraq on Nov 30th. I needed a family vehicle, aside from our Dodge pickup that has little room for two kids in car seats. I bought the Durango on a Friday. It was used , so it came with a free full detail on Monday. I dropped it off and went to work. After work, I went to pick it up and noticed that the drivers side rear taillight was smashed and the rear bumper on the left side underneath the smashed taillight, was dented! a week later it was all fixed;or so I thought. A couple of days later, I was on my way home from morning physical training,to change into my uniform. I was about to make a right hand turn onto my street, and then it happened. My brakes and steering wheel locked up. I pumped and pumped, but no response. I hit a utility van that was at the stop sign and almost totaled my whole front end. It has taken over a month and a half to get the Durango fixed. At the time of the accident I managed to slow down to 15 mph before the brakes locked up! I am currently receiving chiropractor therapy and on heavy pain meds due to the accident.

I was driving my wife to work that morning, it was a bright clear day. I was parked half out of garage. As my wife came out of the laundry room I touched the gas to pull forward. However this did not happen, SUV revved all the way up and would not rev down. I tried to apply brakes but they did not work. I came within a foot of killing my wife. To make this so bad I complained about this before so has my wife. My SUV literally went through 3 walls and several rooms. I have 3 disk fused in my neck and several of the screws are broke. I can live being a cripple but I cant live with out my wife. Chrysler had independent inspector take a look at it. I told him it was at eagle paint and body, and did he need me to stop all repairs. He told me know he could get his data from computer. The Chrysler legal team sent ne a nasty letter stating that I hade moved the vehicle and they were no longer responsible. I even tried to call Chrysler back to tell them the SUV did the same thing, but they informed me legal took over the case and they needed no other data from me. Just one thing when this happens again and kills myself, my family or a bus of kids. Who will be going to jail for the rest of there life.

While driving the 2004 Dodge Durango the consumer tried to brake but the vehicle was not responding.
