The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. While the vehicle was being operated, the vsc sensor warning light illuminated and the power steering suddenly failed. The steering wheel became extremely difficult to maneuver. In addition, the transmission switched to all wheel drive and the speed drastically reduced. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure was unable to be duplicated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 175,000.
I own a 2005 Dodge Durango. Whenever the vehicle runs through a moderately sized rain puddle and water is sprayed up under the car the power steering fails but returns to service a short time after. This has happened repeatedly and the dealer has been called and they acknowledge the problem but say nothing can be done about it. It is truly a safety issue. I have experienced this along with my wife and sons. I live in tampa, FL and rainfall is quite routine (approx 52 inches/yr) and puddles cannot be avoided.
