Takata recall. I recently had the second recall done on my truck and was told that they could not get the air bag light to go out. From what the service tech told me is that it is happening to alot of the cars that come in for this recall. This causes me a huge issue as now I am without a vehicle because I cannot get a passing inspection sticker.
Takata recall. No parts ever available and airbag light is on. What if someone dies because of this and it could have been prevented? this recall started well over a year ago and still no parts for this major safety issue. Many people have died because of this. Manufacturers should be held to some standard when a safety issue of this magnitude is found, and a very tight schedule for repair be maintained. If anything happens to me or my family because of this issue, I won't stop until I own Chrysler/fiat as well as making sure NHTSA is found guilty of negligence for allowing this to go on as long as it has.

The airbag light continues to light up while the vehicle is in motion being that there is a recall it can be kinda scary not knowing if the airbags will deploy while driving. My concern is if while driving and the airbag deploys should the fragments distract my view of traffic while driving may cause a major accident. As of to date the part is not available to repair the airbags what do a driver of a recalled vehicle do???.
I t-boned a drunk driver who ran a red light with my 2006 Dodge Durango. I hit hard enough to brake the frame of the vehicle in two places and I hit the dash, but my airbags did not go off. Chrysler said since the airbag light was not on there were no faults in the system. If they did not go off in this accident what would it take for the air bags to go off? updated 03/01/10 updated 03/22/10.

On July 3, 2006 I purchased a 2006 Dodge Durango. Not long after the purchase the air bag light started coming on shutting down the air bag system. On July 20, 2006 kari Dodge in kalispell, mt worked on the air bag occupant area. Not long after the air bag shut down again. Although not mentioned on repair log they again tried to repair the air bags, on August 2, 2006. Again they shut down. On September 21, 2007 I again took the car to jack of diamonds in longview, TX as I have moved to texas since purchasing the car. They again attempted to fix the air bags to no avail. So I took it back to jack of diamonds where they again attempted to fix the air bags on October 16, 2006. To date I still have airbags that are shutting down whenever they want. I have contacted daimler Chrysler with this problem in an attempt to return the car as a lemon with a safety defect. They are researching my situation. I am not sure if anyone else is having this problem but just this last week I had to take my 63 yr old mother to a funeral in mississippi and guess what they air bags shut down again. This is a problem that needs to be addressed immediately as I do not feel that I can trust this car to protect me in an accident. I also do not feel that I should be inconvenienced with this vehicle any more.
