At 37008 miles my coolant started to leak and it overheated, when taking to a mechanic they replaced the coolant and tubes and advised that it was rubbing on the hose, so they replaced the hoses and put in new coolant fluid and said it was all addressed, not even a week later, it started to overheat again even though it has all new hoses and they wrapped the hoses so it doesn't wear and cause the leak again and it still happened.
I had a safety recall for the abs brake module which was taken in. I was told twice one time the part they did not know when it would arrive. I kept calling. It was very hard to get a hold of the dealership Chrysler Dodge ram country and fort stockton, texas. Called again last Friday conveniently. The part had been incorrectly ordered and that day it was available. They were going to have a tech repair it that day. I told them to give me a call because I would be working out of town. They did not call but they took my vehicle to my employer and left it there and left the keys with the coworker. Call them back on Monday because now I had the auto start light on and still the traction light on. Explain to them that if it could have been part of the abs module they had supposedly replaced. They tried to convince me that it did not. So needless to say I had to replace a vacuum pump which is in the process but as the gentleman that was going to repair that took a look at the abs module which was old. No signs of anything being new or even any of the components being removed. No signs of it being touched. I googled the part number on the abs module which came up as a recall item. So the original part was still in my vehicle which was the original part that had a recall. The item was never replaced as they had told me which could have led to a major hazard or possibly even death of myself, family, or even another vehicle causing an accident. They took it upon themselves to put myself in danger and anybody else on the roads along with anybody. I might have been carrying in my vehicle by lying that they had replaced that part. I have pictures of the part with the part number that matched the recall part number.
On the morning of 10/09/2024, I started my 2019 Dodge Durango and exited the vehicle, after 2 minutes the entire interior of the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The drivers side seat warmer appears to have malfunctioned causing the vehicle to set of fire, including glass break, paint peeling and interior burning.
Backup camera stayed on when car was in drive, park, and neutral. Backup camera also stayed on after I turned vehicle off and opened door. The infotainment system usually turns off once car is parked off and door has been opened. This was very distracting when driving down the road. Picture was when I was in drive at a stop with foot on brake leaving a business parking lot. Taken by passenger.
Leaking coolant lines above transmission.
Cooling system hose blew from a faulty clamp rubbing a hole in it. There’s a ton of reports of this same problem with the same model/year. All antifreeze leaked out and overheated engine.
Vehicle was parked, orange red fluid was seen leaking from the vehicle in a large puddle. Dealership mechanic that found the failure as a factory install clamp that was placed too close to 2 rear coolant lines tube causing a hole in each line almost emptying the coolant all over the ground.
The interior door handle (driver side) has some kind of plastic coating on which began to peel back from the handle. It was very sharp and cut my hand.
When attempting to start and the push button is pressed, the vehicle stutters for up to 5 seconds before turning over. This is happening intermittently, but will always turn over. Vehicle has been taken to the dealership on 2 occasions (10/28/22 @ 56. 5k miles and 12/09/22 @ 56. 7k miles) where they were able to duplicate the start crank issue, but there isn't a code appearing to provide an area to troubleshoot. It was also communicated that the service technician researched several service bulletins and was not able to find any information on the happenings. Because there isnt a "failure" we have been told that the vehicle needs to fail in order to have this fixed. We have less than 58k miles on this vehicle. This has been happening since September 2022.
I was driving down the freeway going about 70 on a trip with my 2 small kids. We were about 2. 5 hours from home when the check engine light came on and was orange. Within minutes, while I was safely trying to get off of the freeway, it turned red and was blinking. I had to slow down to under 40 to get it to go back to orange while I tried to find a place to pull over and figure out what to do, creating a dangerous situation for myself and other drivers. The car only had 40,000 miles, is regularly serviced, and there were no previous issues with any of the warning lights. Took to the first repair shop and they said it was likely the coolant pipes and they have seen it in Durangos because of the way the car is assembled. They recommended that I bring it to the dealership because they didn't want to void my warranty. Dealership confirmed it was "large leak coming from back of engine. Upon further inspection leak is coming from rear heater coolant pipes. Replaced coolant pipes and found coolant leaks from rear heater hoses. Replaced rear heater hoses" the issue with the heater hoses having to be replaced is that the car is assembled so that it has to be completely lifted and split in 2 to be able to do the work. Because of the position of the hoses, there are parts of the frame of the car that rub against those hoses and pipes creating damage and leaks, and there is no easy way to repair the damage that is caused by manufacturer positioning. The parts themselves were less than $700, but the labor charge for having to have multiple people work on taking the entire car apart to replace those parts was more than $5,000.
The rear spoiler is coming detached from the lift gate. It's a recall for 2021 Durango but not for the 2019 but mine is loose and rattling horribly and I'm afraid it'll fly off and hit another vehicle.
Tail lights have a pointy edge that has cause injuries twice, when walking-by to close to the vehicle, I have severely injury my arm and back (see attached pictures). This happens when truck door is opened only. Pics 1 & 2 are showing the pointy edge of the tail light, pic 3 is the most recent injury and pic 4 is a scar from the previous injury.
The start/stop warning light came on for the second time on my 2019 Durango. I had both batteries replaced the first time and now, at 18,500 miles it came on again even though I drive it daily on both highway and local roads. This time, the warning only came on once but the start/stop feature was affecting the performance of the truck. There would be a lag when I would start to drive again, which was dangerous because if you’re making a quick turn or merge, that little delay was significant in safely timing the turn. Also, it would jerk the wheel abruptly upon restarting. And then the truck died completely. Leaving my husband and daughter stranded. Thank god my infant and I were home because this would’ve been even worse with a baby in tow and or if I was on my way to pick up my older daughter somewhere. He said all the lights and alarms on the dash went bezerk and then the truck wouldn’t start at all. The battery strain from the start/stop must have drained the main battery enough to make the computer system go crazy and completely shut down. The tow truck driver couldn’t get any power to truck and now we were left having to get towed to the dealership right after service closed, with the truck being completely unlocked and dead and the driver side window open.
Vehicle was hit broadside in the left front wheel area, driving at approximately 30 mph, the other vehicle was turning left across two lanes. The airbags did not deploy resulting in neck and shoulder injuries. The suspension was severly damaged along with significant body damage.
On 4. 17. 19 while I am driving the car with my family ( 3 people ) from lima linda to rancho cucamonga , we had total 3 x episodes of the engine off suddenly without giving warning at all. What really scare us the car stop at all sudden due to engine off when we are driving on freeway 10.
Uconnect screen. Constant weather alert pop-ups while driving, requiring driver to touch screen to delete. As many as 3 per 5 min period. Distracted driving danger. This feature can not be disabled by owner. Chrysler Dodge dealer, uconnect company unwilling to correct. These weather alerts are not even for my county. The pop-ups cover the screen and render the screen useless.
