I bought my 99 Durango 3 months ago & the ball joints are popping & something in the rear is squeaking like an old mattress & the brakes already need replaced & the ac doesn't work. My concern is the number of complaints I have seen regarding accidents from the ball joints breaking & not being able to steer. If this has been an on going issue with vehicles that have low mileage there should be a recall & Dodge pay for the repairs when peoples lives are in danger. Do you really want another Toyota issue?.

2000 Dodge Durango door locks are not working properly. The rear passenger door lock will not respond to the commands. I have read about numerous complaints about the door locks and it concerns me if we were in an accident if the doors will stay shut, or worse unable for anyone to access that door. It seems to be a problem in all years of cars. I understand it is a plastic wheel poorly designed. I am having problems with 2 door locks and the rear hatch. Currently, we are faced with an electrical drain on the battery. It is a new battery and still will not start. I have my suspicions that these door locks may have a bearing. Please look into the matter as it is a definite flaw and a safety hazard. The rear hatch has not worked in about 3 years and the passenger rear about 2 years and the drivers door makes noises about 3 years.

My mechanic notice unable to keep tires. While driving with my 2 kids noticed extremely loose action while driving, car unable to stay on road. Mechanic checked and upper and lower ball joints defective. I have research and noticed no recall with these vehicles. Lots of complaints something needs to be done. We should not have to suffer for there lack of making a safe vehicle.

After removing ignition key from vehicle, owner returns to vehicle to find that ignition key will not stay in key slot or turn. Vehicle is in park, but steering wheel lock doesn't engage properly, so steering wheel can be turned multiple complete revolutions (if you're strong enough, think non-power steering). The automatic locks on front passanger side do not work, and sometimes you cant even get the door open. . Now its beginning to happen to the front driver side as well.

My 2002 Durango has developed problem where gear shift lever is sticking in park at initial startup. Will free up after several minutes delay or if brake pedal is pumped 3-4 times. Will not repeat unless engine is off several hours. Regular daily occurrence past 4 weeks. Current mileage is 100,010 miles. At first thought shift linkage freezing in winter weather but now have had problem on days with extended hours of temps well above freezing. No dealer contact yet.

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Durango. While driving various speeds, the contact hears a rattling noise coming from the doors as if the locks are not latching properly. She took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that it was a normal characteristic of the vehicle. The failure mileage was 38,000 and current mileage was 54,000. The power locks won't work and the power windows won't work. It's a huge problem with the Dodge Durango. If you ever get into a car wreck you will never be able to get out. It is also at risk for theft.

Loud grinding noise in electric door locks. Can only manually lock/unlock the door. Had one replaced at $250 and another is beginning to fail. Child was able to open the door before the vehicle was at a stop. Rear hatch lock "flutters" and locks/unlocks by itself even after vehicle is turned off and key out of ignition.

Door locks on 2000 Durango buzzing when you unlock the doors then not opening at all even manually. Which I bieleve could be a serios saftey issue if there was a problem.

Multiple problems with 2002 Dodge Durango. Power locks intermittently lock and unlock without activating them. Bad creaking noise from front suspension, possible ball joint problems. Check engine light goes on and off intermittently. Brakes really soft, horrible stopping distance. Engine runs really rough in morning for first 10-15 minutes. Only 21000 miles.

Every door lock in the vehicle has failed causing the inability to open the door manually. The lock system fails in the locked position and remains stuck in the locked position causing the inability to open the door from the inside or outside. If you do a google search you will note that there are 100's of postings on this problem. I feel this is unacceptable from a safety stand point to not be able to open a door due to a faulty power lock.

During a rain storm, while my husband was driving, the locks would lock and unlock for no particular reason. He even got locked out and our child locked inside.
