Eight problems related to horn assembly have been reported for the 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
There are many problems with my 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan. 1. The windshield and rear wipers will go on an off when they want too. Sometimes when you turn them on you can't turn them off. The back one will come on sometimes when starting the car. 2. The horn all of a sudden stopped working. 3. When my van hit around 80,00 miles the air cond. Stopped working and doesn't get cold. Took it to a place to check and they said it was a know problem with Dodge. And that it would cost around 1,500. 00 to repair.
Steering column electrical problems; turning the steering wheel causes various electrical inputs such as turning on windshield wipers, honking horn, causing the abs failure light to come on and causing all electrical systems to short out including all gauges and even causing the engine to turn off.
Consumer stated vehicle's horn is not working due to electrical problems. Dealer won't repair. Please provide additional information. Ts.
I have a Grand Caravan ES purchased new in 1996. About two years ago the air bag, cruise control and the horn all quit at once. Being under extended warranty I returned the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a broken clock (sp. ) spring located behind the air bag. This device apparently affects all three non-working systems, and was not a warranty item, $350 to fix. The dealer said it was a problem with Dodge trucks and a recall "could be in the works" additionally, for some reason during cold weather my turn signals stop working, as the lever enters the stalk in the clock spring area I suspicion it is affecting them also.
Soon after purchase airbag light would intermittenly come on, however, my husband had an accident in November of 98 and they did not deploy and have remained on all the time. Also, our horn and cruise quit working and still does not. We don't know if it was because of accident or body repair. We have been attempting to get our car ins. Co. To do something but to date they still haven't.
Horn failed.
Transmission/steering column/horn/struts/brakes/sway bars/battery/windshield wiper switch and a/c condensor failed.
Horn ,cruise control,does not work and the gas light will come on and make a beeping sound for no reason.
