1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2023

For some reason my caravan has started leaking gas from on top of the gas tank. Not sure why, but I heard the was a recall but it was over 15 years ago so you people don't list anything older. I've only had the car a couple months, and also having a catalytic converter problem as well. .

2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2022

Several times in past year after filling the gas tank, shortly after driving away from gas station the engine misfires and stalls. This has been a safety hazard when merging into traffic. This problem is widely noted in forums on the internet for Chrysler minivans, for many other model years including the 2005. The best explanation being given (link follows) is that the vapor/liquid separator valve on top of the fuel tank has failed, a part that is not replaceable--the entire fuel tank must be replaced. Some report it happened when their minivan was brand new. Https://ricksfreeautorepairadvice. Com/engine-stalls-after-filling-tank-Chrysler-minivan/.

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2018

I just acquired this vehicle. I understand gas 6 recalls based in the NHTSA. Doors read model 2004. I called Chrysler Dodge dealer in hemet, California and the service receptionist stated there is nothing to do that are no recalls for this van. Please help. The light engine is on. The power train kicks sometimes (drags) suddenly. And I see the 6 recalls applicable to this model.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2016

Every time I fill up the vehicle with gas, it stalls every time within the first few minutes, last week daughter was merging into traffic when it happened and almost got rear-ended. This has been happening for a while now. Last winter I wasn't able to fill the vehicle, the pump kept shutting down but that went away after the weather warmed up.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2015

Everytime the van is refueled, it will stall on acceleration. This occurs for the first few minutes after refuel and then the van returns to normal operation. The problem is the failure usually occurs when pull out on the road because that is the first point of acceleration.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

Van stalls after fueling. Every time you fill up the van, the van will stall for no reason. It will restart within a minute or 2. It will then have no problems until the next fill up. Reading reports on the web, this is happening on all Dodge and Chrysler vehicles even causing some to stall on train tracks. Never had a problem with the van until I hit around 100k miles. All other reports on the web are identical. Chrysler Dodge should recall before someone dies.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2015

On three separate occasions, the vehicle stalled after refueling. One instance occurred just after merging onto a freeway after refueling. The other two instances occurred in the parking lot of the fueling station after refueling.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2014

Vehicle stalls out after filling up with gas. It will run rough after a fill up and stall out at the next stop you have to make.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2014

Traveling east on the nys i90 yesterday, 12:45pm - lunch rush hour time, approximate speed 62 mph when suddenly the vehicle stopped accelerating. Pumping the gas pedal, holding it down to the floor made no difference, although the rpms were racing. Luckily we were traveling in the far right lane (of the three available) and as I was coasting was able to do so on the shoulder. We were also fortunate that we were near an exit and we able to coast along to this point before we finally had to shut off the car, midway along an exit ramp, along the shoulder. Had we been in one of the other lanes during this mishap I probably would not be in any condition to file a report. Vehicle was placed on a flat bed, driven to our mechanic, where it currently is. I have noticed several complaints regarding the autolocks on this vehicle. Ours were fixed (partially) once. The driver's side rear still does not function as it should and needs to be locked and unlocked manually. This vehicle had no prior owners, purchased new.

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

Upon refueling the van stumble and stalls at various speeds. When vehicle stalls in traffic, the steering column locks. No longer in control, the driver and passengers are powerless to avoid roadside obstacles as well as other automobiles.

14 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2013

From 2013 on, every time I fill my van up, whether half way or all the way, it stalls after going a few feet or sometimes further. It is completely unexpected. I have stalled in traffic, pulling into traffic or just sitting at a stop sign or light. Lately it takes two or three times to start up again. I have tried expensive gas and cheaper gas with same result. I was told by mechanic it would be a huge cost to fix so did not do anything about it. It is frustrating and is becoming dangerous as it is completely unexpected. This is also a problem that can only be shown to a mechanic at fill up. Most of the time I am told I am overfilling which is not the case.

15 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2013

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that after refueling and driving at 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact mentioned that the vehicle stalled after refueling. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was not able to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.

16 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2013

After filling up the vehicle it would sputter or stall. Sometimes while in traffic! it doesn't occur every time after fill up but has done it multiple times since for almost a year.

17 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2013

First and foremost, I see 822 previous complaints (most refer to the exact same problems) with no sign of any intent by the NHTSA-odi or the manufacturer to respond and/or rectify this situation. Electrical problems: vehicle repeatedly loses power and stalls while driving. Power door locks stopped working completely from both interior switches and the key fob; will not lock or unlock any of the 5 doors from interior. Manually able to lock and unlock doors individually. Unable to lock back hatch with key fob or from inside vehicle therefore, vehicle remains unlocked. Both power sliding doors and power hatch stopped working. Other mechanical problems: vehicle shakes uncontrollably when applying brakes downhill; new brake pads installed, problem still exhists. My nieghbors had the exact same problems with their 2005 town and country. Bottom line: this is a widespead safety issue that requires immediate action. Unfortunately, as you can clearly see below, it is highly unlikely that any of us will ever see a response by the manufacturer, NHTSA-odi or anyone else for that matter. The manufacturer has no intent to admit responsibility and help consumers resolve this issue. Without action by the NHTSA-odi we as consumers do not stand a chance in solving this problem.
