1 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2020

Has there been any airbag clock sensor recalls? when I am driving and make a turn the esp/bas light comes on and the anti-lock brakes activate. The system resets and comes on again each time I am driving and make a turn. Codes c1219,c123f,c123b,c2200,c123c are active and stored on computer of vehicle.

2 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2019

The tmpi on a 20008 Dodge Grand Caravan needs to be recalled. Used car lots are disconnecting the horn and selling the 20008 Grand Caravan for up to 10,000 dollars to customers who are unaware that any time the caravan will become disabled while driving on any street or highway because the tmpi is faulty and caravan wipers will spray continuously wiper fluid on windshield. ( the horn will blow continuously if not tampered with and disabled. As in this situation with the 20008 Dodge Grand Caravan. Resource . Customer reviews and complaints filed against Dodge Chrysler corporations) caravan will not excel over 30 miles an hour. When caravan is finally parked the engine will not turn off. Caravan will not go into drive or reverse. Engine continuously idles while on the back of the wrecker/flatbed with the keys removed and then finally shuts its self off. Another issue. . . . The used car lot owner will then repossess said vehicle and sell it to another unsuspecting customer who will buy the caravan that needs to be recalled because the cost of said vehicle repair part (tmpi) is $1,080. 00 and $115. 00 labor cost to fix the repair an hour. Because buyer cannot afford the repair costs and the caravan payments and full coverage insurance . . Which does not pay to replace the altered or defective tmpi. Even though there have been recalls on the same identical tmpi part on two other Chrysler/Dodge vehicles. Note. . . Battery has to be disconnected while parked.

3 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2019

I just bought my van used and the tire pressure light stays on (pressure has been checked) the check engine has now come on and remains on along with all the abs, traction control and brake lights have come on as well. The traction control light flashes while driving and the van will decelerate while driving. This happens while driving the vehicle. Every time driving the vehicle.

4 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2018

Vehicle stalled intermittently going down road, dash lights flicker on and off, windshield wipers turn on intermittently, radio not owrking, windows not working, locks not working, all dash lights now not on, gas gage not working, rpm not working. Vehicle is currently not driveable.

5 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

Takata recall. The airbag light is on and will not turn off, the horn does not work and the cruise control does not work. I was told it was the clock spring which is recalled on all other vehicles but does not show up on mine. This needs to be changed.

6 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2018

01 /13/18 the very first morning I had it I worked at 6 am about 5 mins into driving 11 degrees! the traction light came on without me pushing the button. Then a eps w/ des lite up?? they both went on by themselves as well. Also the roads were not wet! this continues every morning despite the temperature. Up to current day 01/16/18 we received a dusting less the 1 inch on the ground. I pushed the traction button on despite that me and my 3 children slid into a mail box thankfully slowly! had to be pulled out due to in not starting up and stuck. . This van is loud and runs behind, kind of stutters. . It went through a half tank of gas in 1 day! there is at times but frequent we can smell gas. ? also this van started acting to the point of almost stalling out!.

7 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2017

8 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2017

Tipm electrical problems ? (1)the engine stalling while driving, dash flashing, eps/bas light and (abs) light coming on with traction control light too then van dies or shuts off. Also mileage and prnd display blinks rapidly. This happens when sitting still or driving. Seem's to happen even when engine is cold or hot on the city streets or highway. (2)my van has had 4 or 5 battery's that have went bad, also sometimes it wont start,I get a jump start,go get the battery tested at auto zone but there's nothing wrong with the battery,(3)horn works but if you need to honk more than 2 times it stops working but later it works, sometimes it wont start and you take the key out and open the door then close the door and you can start it. Also lately it has been harder to start. Also you can't play the radio without the motor running it will run the battery down? but the 1st year I had the van 2011 I could run the radio all day long with only starting it up for about 5 minutes every hour. Also cruse control works then stops working. These things have happen over and over,in a 7 year period sense April 2011. I believe it is a tipm electrical problem. Can you send me a new one I am a veteran one a small disability check sleeping in the van. There is a video of the problem on youtube. I did not know there was a problem with the tipm. I though I was playing the radio too long,or the alternator was going bad but the alternator never showed bad in any test or has not stop working. So it was the tipm (fuse box)going bad all the time. Thanks to youtube, see at- 08 Grand Caravan tipm on youtube. Com ? also a video at 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan electrical problems 2014 03 05 2019.

10 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2017

The clock spring in my Grand Caravan failed and causes the bas and esp system to apply brakes randomly before failing and offering no traction control. This happens each time I start driving forward and is worst when going from a stop sign around a turn.

11 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2016

Bought this van in Aug. 2009 loved it at first. . Then things started happening. Would hesitate while driving, never die on me but still feels like it will sometimes. . Steering wheel has locked on me several times. Different panel lights come on and go off since day one. Have changed brakes way more than should of been necessary. . Other repair to brake system. Had power steering line changed. About 6 months ago, panel lights started coming on more often, then the gauges wouldn't work, wipers come on and won't stop. Headlight flash on and off or don't work at all; turn signals work on and off, power locks come on and off, can't roll windows down or up from drivers side or lock or unlock doors. Everyday it gets worse. Took it to Dodge dealer 11/2016 cost about $100. 00 to tell me , its not a call back and not related to the ignition problem, and in my passed complains they had didn't have any of these problems listed, even tho I had told them about them before. So because control lights had went off at that time they couldn't do anything. It was probably an electrical problem and the last time they did one it too about 10 hr. To find the problem. ($128. 00 an hr) I can't afford that and I think chysler should stand behind their cars. Now for the last 2 weeks all of these things stay on and continue to do it all. Low mileage 81000 always taken care of, now I'm 70 yrs old and have a van that I'm afraid to drive. . . This happens while driving and sitting still.

12 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2016

When driving the vehicle I've had the esp/bas and trac light come on and the vehicle will shut down. I've had it to the shop twice and they can't get it to replicate what it's doing. The car just shuts off--the power steering is gone, I can't accelerate or keep moving at constant speed. The car is completely off and control is barely possible. It can happen anywhere, including at stop signs, driving along the road, the middle of an intersection, which makes it a severe safety issue. This has happened multiple times both city and open road as well as when parking in a spot.

13 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2016

Tipm completely failed, locking my transmission in "limp mode" and also affecting doors and window controls. While driving on the hywy I loss speed instantly making it necessary to pull onto the median to prevent accident.

14 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2016

While in motion, the van will completely lose power for no apparent reason. There are no warnings, strange sounds or any indicator that it is about to shut off. The car just shuts off--the power steering is gone, I can't accelerate or keep moving at constant speed. The car is completely off and control is barely possible. It can happen anywhere, including at stop signs, driving along the road, the middle of an intersection, which makes it a severe safety issue. Once it is in park, it can be restarted, usually aided by pumping the gas, and then it goes on as if nothing happened. However, shifting into park isn't always an option when you are driving in the middle of the road. The check engine light does not come on, so no error code is produced. It has been taken to a dealership service center twice, but the problem is intermittent and cannot be duplicated easily, so they don't know what to fix, tell us nothing is wrong and send us on our way. It is alarming that they don't give more urgency to finding a source, considering that the car turns off while driving. Our ignition switch/key have been replaced after the recall, which we were hoping was the cause of the problem, but it was not. It is still occurring. I have done an internet search and it seems that this problem is not unique to me. Other drivers are experiencing the same issue. Minivans often carry children in them. If this problem were to occur in a busy intersection, the results could be devastating. I urge you to seek a solution/source to this problem quickly! I wish we could simply go buy a new car to keep our family safe, but unfortunately, that isn't our reality, as we are still working to pay off this one, so we are hoping the problem will be researched and resolved promptly. You are welcome to use our van to do so!.

15 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2015

I have had my car in many times for horn blowing, wipers and washers going, all lights going off at night ( I could have been killed) blower not working, car not starting, doors not closing. It has cost me several thousand dollars in repairs and the last time I was told the tipm computer would fix everything. The car computer was already replaced. The car was on the highway at 60mph and also at stop lights. This all happened over several years.

16 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2015

Driving down the highway, engine stalled, horn was blaring with no way to turn it off, wipers at full speed and couldn't stop them, car wouldn't start back up. Engine light and gas light(not empty) are now on.

17 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2015

Within the past several weeks on driving vehicle 2 block, my warning lights came on relating to esp and the traction control light indicating upon evaluation by a private mechanic that attention was needed in the steering column mechanism (air bags?), and traction control sensor "idiot" light appeared causing vehicle to grasp the pavement more than usual, my tires appeared okay, and I was advised that when the esp light comes on, traction control is automatic. . . Please send me verification that this is a recall issue. I plan to have my vehicle towed by aaa to scott robinson Chrysler, Dodge in torrance and would request coverage of my rental vehicle for one week.

18 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2015

My wife was driving the minivan today around 6:45 am. She was dropping off our daughter to school. Her speed limit was 25 mph. 2 times, the traction stability control lit up in the dashboard. The engine stopped, brake was not working and steering wheel cannot be moved. Both times, she was able to turn on the hazard light to alert any vehicles behind her. Luckily she was not travelling fast and the vehicles behind her were slow. Both times she had to remove the key and reinsert it and restart the minivan. She was able to restart the minivan. This is the 2nd time that this happened. Our dealer have open appointments 6 days from now. This is a dangerous situation that others are also experiencing. Below is a link of complaints. . . 19 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2014

Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA campaign id number: 14v373000 (air bags , electrical system) and stated that the part needed was unavailable to perform the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact had not experience a failure. Bp.

20 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2014

Engine shut off complete and hard to control the steering wheel and the braks don't responce at all and Chrysler group llc don't do nothing to fix the problem at all and I have over 5 month still paying the van and I can't drive at all.

21 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2014

My 18yo son was driving the van at highway speeds (65 mph) when he described a sudden inability to control the vehicle. The steering became hard to control and the brakes here hard to push. He thought the brakes had failed. Due to the inability to control the van he drifted into the passing lane where a car to the rear of him struck his rear quater panel, causing his van to spin out of control. The vehicle spun and came to rest in the meridian. The police report stated" no evidence of breaks locking up" as there was no skid marks in the road way until the vehicle was leaving the road sideways. The air bags did not deploy. The damage to the vehicle includes substantial front, side and rear panel damage the front and rear tires are out of alignment, exhaust pushed up into rear quater panel and the force caused the battery to slide out of place. The engine warning lights were all on to include the air bag light. We called Chrysler because we saw the recall on line. Meanwhile 5 days after the accident we received the recall notice in the mail stating it was fine to drive the can until the recall was performed. They sent an investigation team to examine the van and determined the brakes were at fault. However the brakes were new including rotors 2 weeks prior and upon having my own inspection done the brakes were found in working order, no warped rotors or burnt pads that would suggest a brake lock up at 65mph,tires(snow tires as my son was heading to college in northern maine ) are in good condition with no evidence of flat areas (as one might expect with brakes locking up) we had engin diagnostics checked and found an yaw warning at the time of the accident with no other engin codes noted. All engine lights were lit up at the time of the accident much like what happens when you shut the ignition off while the vehicle is in motion only to reset upon normal restart.

22 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2014

Wife was driving around 40 mph when traction control light came on and she lost power steering and brakes. She was finally able to stop in the middle of the intersection, luckily there was no car coming. She then turned the van off and restarted and everything was fine. She said she is never driving it again because it is unsafe. Last year we had the tipm replaced after the seemingly common problem of horn honking, windshield wipers going and solvent spraying randomly several times. Not sure how Chrysler can get away with having all of these life endangering issues without having recalls and fixing them. But what I do know is we will never buy a Chrysler product again.

23 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2014

On occasion the vehicle will set of a signal alarm and display esp bas brake abs and the esp simbol will illuminate - also the panel lights will flicker. I will also feel a very slight hesitation on my forward motion. It does not always happen - but always while vehicle was just starting to heat up.

24 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2014

As I was driving on the interstate in atlanta, my vehicle abs eps bas and esp light came on. At this time I was unable to use cruise control. Now it comes on intermittently and slows my vehicle down at odd times. I have taken it to the mechanic and they say they don't see anything wrong with it. I travel a lot and would hate for this to happen to me again especially with my children with me.

25 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

Electronic stability control turns itself off and on at random. Warning light esp/bas illuminates and esp is turned off automatically. This light turns on and off at seemingly random times. Dealer is not sure why wants to charge me to start changing parts it is not sure are broken.

26 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2013

I was driving down the highway and my vehicle headlights turned off as well as the engine. The windshield wipers turned on high even though they were in the off position. The car horn was engaged and I had no control over the function of the systems. I was able to start the car but the light would not come on etc. Even with the key removed and the exiting the wipers, horn, hazard lights still were engaged. The car started to spray windshield wiper fluid as well. The locks would unlock and lock as well. Eventually approximately 10 minutes it stopped. I was able to stared the car and moved it to a safe location. I took video of the incident. I am highly concerned as this seems to be a recurring problem based on my research and there definitely could have be a fatality last night!.

27 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2013

A need a recall on tipm part which controls the engine which turns it on and off. Now a recall is due>becauase it is the issue with vehicle because now the ealerships are saying it is the issue or what is causing it to turn off. As a Dodge owner of a Grand Caravan, from the time I brought the vehicle there were issues. First it started with the vehicle turning itself off and did start back. So the dealership fix it. Then it was the brakes and rotors on the front end. Fix , repair, issues again, then issues again. So many other issues with this van later on. But I decided not to complain to Dodge company. . Boy do I regret it now. . It's been almost 4 years now, I still have issues with the engine cutting off while driving. This has gone on for awhile, then recall come out saying it's the engine switch, so now we are waiting on the it, still. . . When I have did some research and ask some people with computer knowledge on vehicles and they say by the engine cutting off while driving can cause issues with the tipm part (computer). I have taken it so many times to the dealership for this reason for the engine shutting it self off, they would brush it off it's the battery, got new battery then it happen again. Then took it back again , no engine light on , then they can't diagnose any issues. Now warranty is out. . Still no part for the recall engine switch. . . . 2015. Now that the engine is still shutting it self off, dealership is now saying its the tipm part which is 1200. Or more. . . I believe it has been the issue the whole time, so Dodge needs to have a recall on this part before someone is kill. . . I worry about it happening to my family. I have three children. It's our only vehicle. . As of today still no part available. Call Dodge - no help from them. They need to have a recall on the tipm part before its to late.

28 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2012

I am experiencing electrical problems with the 2008 Grand Caravan. The van cuts off while moving. The lights blink. The radio suddenly turns on. Sometimes the doors will not unlock. The problems all appear to be related to the computer malfunctioning in the van. The may cause an accident if the van loses power and control while driving.

29 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2012

Received "safety recall l01" to replace the occupant restraint controller module (orc). The l01 recall was performed at Dodge dealership in daytona auto mall, daytona beach florida where the vehicle was originally purchased. According to the procedure to replace the orc, the electronic stability dynamic sensor (esp) had to be removed and re-installed as part of the replacement for the orc. Vehicle was picked up and driven home that day. The next day the vehicle was started and the esp, bake assist sensor (bas), and traction control sensor lights appeared on the dash. Returned vehicle to Dodge dealer to verify that this was not caused by the recall procedure. Dodge dealer checked abs codes and said the steering angle control /clock spring sensor was defective, and would cost $500 plus to fix. All these components are connected to the abs system. I just cannot believe that one day after the l01 recall was done, that another component of the abs system failed.

30 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2012

While driving to the market my wife experienced a sudden shudder in the steering/brakes pulling the vehicle out of the driving lane towards the shoulder. She brought the vehicle to a stop of the shoulder. She noticed the esp/bas warning light and the slippery road/traction control warning light had both activated on the dash/instrument panel. We brought the vehicle to the dealer who informed us the steering angle/clockspring sensor which activates the drivers airbag had failed and needs replacement. According to the dealer the item is not covered under warranty and repair would cost a total of $508. Dodge recalled caravans 1996-2000 for a similar issue. We have already had to replace all the brakes, for what was termed premature whereout, at approx 22,000 miles. We had to replace the electronic keys which both crumbled after the 3rd year. What's next???? any help in this situation would be much appreciated.

31 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2012

June 2012, while driving the vehicle from a restaurant from dinner, the vehicle suffered a power failure which immediately caused the vehicle to power down while driving on the highway. I was forced to make a best attempt to pull over to the side of the road, which was made difficult by the fact that the brakes were powered by the electrical systems as was the steering. I subsequently called a mechanic who came and checked out the minivan but, no work was performed because when the mechanic arrived, the car started and drove perfectly and all of the voltages for the electrical systems tested okay. A month later, after arriving home and parking my car, I noticed that the cooling fan was still operating although the vehicle has been shut off. I then immediately started the car and did every check possible to make sure that I had not left anything on. After checking under the hood and closing the hood itself, the fan shut off on its on. Within a matter of weeks, this same problem began repeating itself and would only stop once the battery ran down. I eventually had the fan relay/starter replaced after a mechanic suggested that this was the issue. I have subsequently found that the fan no longer stays on. However, the vehicle continues to either shut down while driving with no apparent cause and I am still experiencing problems with the vehicle's battery draining, although nothing appears to have been left on. The electrical problems have continued to get worse and increasingly dangerous and I have called several Dodge dealerships to speak with mechanics. To generalize, a majority of the mechanics have dealt with other consumers who have experience some or all of the same issues and suggest that the tipm is faulty and that this is a common issue on Chrysler and Dodge minivans of the same year and being that this is the case that they expect to see a recall issued.

32 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2010

Vehicle: 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan, in use for 20 months, 17000 miles. Uneven brake pad wear. I believe this is a significant safety problem rather than a routine maintenance issue is based on what could have happened and what did happen. Here are my observations and experiences (1) if the malfunctioning rear wheel brake calipers are unexpectedly locking up the wheel the operation of the antilock brake system (abs) and electronic stability program (esp) safety systems will be compromised since the control computers cannot fully unlock the rear wheels on slippery roads; (2) the rotational drag from locking rear wheels caused the vehicle to exhibit very poor starting traction and control on snow and a strong propensity to get stuck especially if the rear wheels were on a less slippery surface than the front wheels, it was not possible to rock or push the vehicle free, turning off the esp as recommended in the operators manual for stuck situations did not help to free the vehicle; (3) the dragging rotor could overheat, reduce braking performance and cause unanticipated damage to brake system components, my rear brake components show signs of what looks to me to be excessive heating; (4) the failure occurred about 5 months and 5000 miles after factory service inspected the brake system and did not find any problems or excessive wear, this is well under chryslers 12 month or 12,000 mile inspection interval recommendation for brakes, this is also under my more stringent 6 month tire rotation and brake inspection interval; (5) none of the onboard diagnostics for the abs or esp indicated a problem with the systems, no audible warning chirping devices sounded, the grinding noise of the irreparably damaged rotor and caliper on the left rear wheel was the first indication of brake system failure. I am trying to get Chrysler to inspect and repair this safety defect under warranty outside of the standard 12 month 12000 mile brake warranty.

33 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

The brake system on this van is a constant problem and is costing us thousands of dollars in repairs. The brake system on this van is running very hot even on cold days. The brake pads and rotors fail prematurely and the wheel hubs fail from constantly overheating. The abs starts feeding too much pressure to the wheel calipers and causes the brake pads to constantly touch the rotors which creates excessive brake pad and rotor wear as well a overheating of the grease in the wheel hubs which causes them to fail. Nobody should have to replace brakes every 7,000 to 10,000 miles. This is a factory defect in the design and Chrysler is not going to do anything about it because it will cost them too much money.

34 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2008

Details: uneven brake wear. Rear brake calipers,do not retract evenly. Caliper piston hangs up on one side. One side will be worn down all the way to metal and the pads on the opposite wheel will be barely touched. Dealer says nothing is wrong. Parts department says they are replacing many calipers due to this problem. Stability control masks the problem so it goes undetected until the sound of metal to metal contact is heard. Vehicle is inspected every 3 months and pads replaced when necessary. This is a manufacturing defect and should be covered under warranty. The dealer says after 12,000 miles they are not responsible.
