14 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2014

Driving 45 mph and vehicle shut off losing power steering and brakes. No check engine light. Pulled over and restarted. Happened again twice 2 days later. Thought it was bad gas. Filled up and added heat. Seemed to be ok for about 10 days, but still was running harsh. Engine shut off again 5/20 and then again on 5/21. Did see briefly a check engine light on one of the occurrences otherwise no clues. Had already filled up twice so ruled out gas. Took it to mechanic and the only code he could pull up was the egr valve and maybe the spark plugs, but couldn't guarantee that was the cause. Replaced plugs and valve and so far the engine has not shut off and that includes one 1000 mile rt, and two 200 mile rts since then, but I'm still not totally convinced. However after reading about all the complaints about engines shutting off, I thought I better log this for the safety of others and the expense I paid to replace the egr and spark plugs.

15 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2014

On multiple occasions while driving, the vehicle decelerated on its own, while also losing all ability to steer or brake. All power control to steering, braking and maneuvering was lost, although the engine did not appear to shut off. The first incident caused my wife to end up in a ditch with the children in the car. Chrysler and their dealerships will not say this is related to the NHTSA campaign # 14v373000/ Chrysler l25 recall because the engine did not appear to shut off. Whether part of the recall or not, these problems are serious safety issues for my family and others on the road. Additionally, Chrysler does not have parts available for the recall and were not able to provide an availability eta for replacement parts. I was also told by Chrysler that I have been notified of the recall, and as such, they hold no liability for me driving the vehicle until replacement parts available.

16 Service Brakes problem

18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2011

Multiple problems. Worst first. High oil consumpsion, maintain vehicle faithfully. At approx. 70 k miles the engine oil light popped on. Checked oil. Was not registering on stick. Over three qts low! engine continues to use 3-4 qts between oil changes (3000 miles). Van is on its third set of brakes. Tires have to be rotated very often becuase the front ruins tires quickly. Have had to replace the key fob twice. Both times it has left us stranded with no warning. Van is now in the shop for bad motor mounts. Gauge cluster has been replaced once. Heater hose "y" connection blew apart while on vacation at approx. 75k miles. (engine did not overheat). Van is on its third or fourth battery. Power sliding doors continually have problems closing. Power steering pump whines since 15k miles. Van currently has 91k miles.

21 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2011

Steering wheel shaken at 9000 miles(warped rotors). Dealer replaced free due to mileage and I have 21000 now and steering wheel is shaken like crazy again. This vans braking system is dangerous when braking with no idea brakes are in the early stages of warping. I have owned 6 caravans and have never had this problem with the others. Something is causing the rotors to warp.

24 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2010

2009 d gr caravan purchased new, have had to have front brakes rotors , shaved , then brakes & rotors replaced , then again rear rotors shaved at 22,000 miles there definetly is an issue with the brakes on this vehicle. And needs to be address by Dodge. Also had elecrical problems and van cut off on me once going 45 mph , then approx 25 mph, then again at a stop. This is the 1st new car I have ever purchased , , not an easy thing for me as I only make $25,000 a yr and I am so frustrated that I promise I will only buy used from now on, if I am going to pay nearly $30,000 for a vehicle , I dont expect to have to have it in the shop 4 + times. And to have to shell out a couple hundred dollars every 6 months on it. . .

25 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2010

The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph he applied the brakes and the brake pedal began to pulsate. Approximately eight months later the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to another authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the brakes exhibited an acceptable amount of rust but did not need to be repaired. Approximately four months later the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the contact was advised to replace the rear rotors. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 9,800 and the current mileage was 23,000.

26 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2010

2009 Dodge Grand Caravan began shaking as I would brake from speeds anywhere from 40-100 miles per hour (I live in germany). At 15,000 miles we took the car to the dealership and they determined that the front rotors are warped. The odd thing is that the rotors went out before the brakes did. The dealer said due to a design flaw in the Grand Caravan, the front retains a lot of heat and will warp the rotors on a regular basis. We were told to expect this repair every 15,000 miles or so.

27 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2010

Shaking in steering wheel when brakes applied at higher speeds. Started intermittently at about 12,000-13,000 miles, proceeded to get worse. Husband at first couldn't feel it so I did not take it in. When it got really bad I told my husband to take it for a drive again, he said he thought it was the rotors to take it in to the dealer. Sure enough I had warped rotors which were changed on June 4, 2010. I am not the only person I know to have this problem at such low miles on a Dodge vehicle. I have informed them to notify you.

28 Service Brakes problem
