The driver side window components made lots of noise then the window fell down into the door causing me to need a motel and find a window repair shop as I was traveling from NY to georgia when this happened, the resulting bills were close to $1000. Yes it is available for inspection I am [xxx] was [xxx] and this $ issue is very simply a terrible burden to my life, luckily I had a credit card with me that I could use but paying that balance will be a time consuming endeavor on the little I live on financially. The component was inspected by the glass repair shop as it was being torn apart to be fixed. No warnings were provided only horrible noise from the door just before the window dropped the next time I went to use it. The last Dodge Grand Caravan I owned was a 2005 and I had it 6 years with minimal expense so when I found this one, a 2010 with no power doors it was ideal for me financially or so I thought, has caused considerable problems in my financial life and now I am too scared to go back to NY with it for fear of the other windows breaking. I got a motel room because a storm was impending, called window repair shops in chambersburg va, the second one I called said bring it over, it was the weekend before July 4th of 2025 and I was very lucky to get the help as the shop owner was leaving for a week vacay soon, they ordered the part from the nearby dealership, but it cost me $583. For the part plus repair, truly devastating. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
When you are driving all of a sudden it just won't go forward and it has slipped into neutral. You have to find a place to coast so you can shut it off and restart it then it will go again. You never know when it's going to do it so it's very dangerous because there is not always a place to pull over. I have to put my flashers on and hope everyone goes around. I took it to repair place and they were unfamiliar with this happening. It does this from 1 to 4 times a day.
While driving, rear driver side sliding door opened and continues to do so.
Drivers side sliding door locked closed cannot open.
There was no warning. The vehicle just shut off. I replaced the battery and had alternator checked it is fine. If I drive on a side road or hit a bump in the road, the van shuts off. I have no brakes or steering. I called the recall number and they said it is not on the recall list. My van was made in 09/2009. Maybe there are others not on list. I just bought the vehicle, maybe that is why they sold it. Please help me.
The engine on my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan sxt turned off while driving down the road. This has happened over 5 times in the past 2 weeks. In these several incidents, the vehicle was warmed up and was travelling anywhere between 20 mph and 45 mph when the engine just completely shut off, which forced me to coast to a stop, sometimes in traffic. The engine could then be restarted with no issues. This vehicle has been serviced for recall 14v-373 (regarding a faulty electronic ignition switch that could cause the vehicle to shut off without warning), but the problem described in recall 14v-373 seems to be recurring.
The engine stops running while driving, leaving you in the middle of driving, unable to turn or drive safely. You have to put it into drive and restart the car. It happens without notice while driving, and you must restart multiple times during a trip to work or wherever you're going.
Ignition switch issues , driving the car and the switch cuts off engine and car shuts off , has been doing this several times , contacted the local dealer after being told by a mechanic that there is a recall and the dealership told me that its not covered and no recall.
Engine stalls, steering wheel/brakes/gas pedal all lock up and become inoperable while driving/in motion. I could be going 10 mph or 50mph. Has happened on windy roads near my home as well as high traffic roads near work as well as on/off highway ramps. I've read hundreds of reports of this happening to my year make and model yet my VIN number has not been recalled? I only use my key fob (no others keys or key chains added). Purchased the vehicle used 3 years ago, has since had new transmission, new starter, and new battery trying to rectify this issue.
Passenger side door will not open from inside or outside. Stuck in locked position. Faulty door actuator.
Antilock brake system went out at 50,000. This shows up as wheel sensor. This is a major safety issue. Plus you can not find part hardly.
Everything to do with the braking system needs to be recalled including the sensors. 2018,2019,2020 I had to replace brakes, calipers, rotors, and hub assembly multiple times. This is not normal to keep replaces these parts. Many people experienced this problem and I sure many others will. There needs to be a recall on this.
For the past couple years my van just turns off when I'm driving. Nobody can figure it out. Then my doors randomly open. This happens anywhere. Interstate or in town. Steering wheel locks up and I have to put in numeral and start. This happens daily.
Noticed that my ignition area was lose and that when the key was placed in to it the key would be very lose and was easily able to slide out of ignition hole. Also the car would turn off unless I hold the key in place or when I drive the smallest bump would knock out the key a little bit and the car would cut off, sometimes I could push it back in and it would cut the car right back on have had this happen many times on the expressway or highway. A lot of the time I have to drive holding the key into the ignition but if I move my hand wrong the car cuts off in mid drive.
Two things happening occasionally. . . 1st is that sometimes I attempt to start the van and when I turn the key nothing happens as if I didn't even try to turn the key. One time just before this happened I could not use the key fab to unlock the door to the van, almost like the battery to the van or fab was dead, however both were new or fine. After pulling fab out of ignition and trying a second time van has always started without incident. 2nd issue is that on a few spread out occasions the van will quit shifting gears while excellerating causing the rpm's to rev dangerously. So far after getting to a safe place and turning the van off and restarting has cleared the issue. . . However is unclear what is causing and is very dangerous when you are on the highway before you realize whats happening.
While driving my van just shuts off I have no steering it just stops. It is currently at a dealership in indiana pennsylvania called tri star. I saw there was a recall for this and they are stating I had it fixed in 2016. It is happening again. Should this not be your responsibility to fix. I have two small children with me. 18 months and 4 months I want peace of mind they will be safe.
The vehicle turns off in the middle of driving, stopping, stopped or other operation for no apparent reason.
The check engine light came on, vehicle started shaking when running. Codes showed it was the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft sensor. Both were replaced severall times my a mechanic. Dealership had vehicle for 2 weeks could not figure out what was wrong. Replaced the flexplate. It now makes a grinding noise and check engine light is back on. Now it is stalling several times while driving at any speed. It puts my family at risk and now I cannot leave the neighborhood in fear that it will stall while driving. If we get into an accident with the vehicle stalled no airbags will be reployed. Sometimes it had difficulty starting.
Since getting the vehicle in oct. 2018, its been in the shop for starter issues. We have replaced the starter 4 times and still doesn't want to start. The next thing we did was replace the tipm module and 2 days later still having a problem with it starting. At times it takes 1-5 minutes to start and at times it doesn't want to start at all. Not sure what is wrong with it. Needless to say we have paid close to $1600 on the vehicle and it still isn't fixed.
While driving a burnt plastic smell was present. Was unsure if the smell was coming from inside or outside the vehicle. Parked vehicle, turned off ignition, left vehicle out of sight for an estimated 5 minutes, vehicle was stationary for the rest of incident. Upon return to the vehicle the rear cargo area was filling with smoke. Smoke appeared to be generating from the rear driver side cargo area, behind the 3rd row seats. Entered vehicle, removed personal items, attempted to open rear cargo hatch and hatch would not open. At this point the smoke had completely filled the interior cabin and flames engulfed the vehicle. The interior was completely burned up.
The handles on the passengers doors are broke I can not use the sliding doors there is no rust around the handles. To me this is very hazardous with two small children and one is autistic. I believe the handles were designed poorly and not put on recall. I would like something done about this.
I have had to replace the catalytic converter 3 times already. I went this month to get a safety inspection and was told it is the catalytic converter again. Do you have a recall on catalytic converter for this vehicle?.
Few just a few of original purchase the engine started to kill for no apparent reason. It was taken to the dealer many times, they say they could not find a problem. Finally there were a few recalls. Problem of engine killing was solved, but then all electrical components would kill, took to dealer several times, again they no indication of an event. Not till after it was out of warranty and the exist problems continued didthey say they found the problem, they said it was the timp. Replaced for $1200. 00, w 24 month warranty on new timp. No that new timp is acting up. Kills all electrical and engine, when taken to dealer, naturally no record of events in storage unit. This happening random for no apparent reason. Serious safety problem.
Sometimes the car won't start unless you turn the key in twice.
The tipm (totally integrated power module) is either defective, or damaged from weather exposure. Sparatic power issues are present causing odd things to go wrong, from the battery being drained, to backlight flickering on the dash, to upon exiting the vehicle attempting to lock vehicle to only have it unlock again, to also upon locking, having the front windows randomly go down.
Vehicle is stalling out without warning. I have noticed it is a common problem with the vans from Dodge and Chrysler. It is dangerous to drive, it stalls in traffic at idle or when pulling into traffic. When it stalls sometimes it will activatee the esp light and set off multiple obd2 codes, orbit will stall and not set off any lights.
We have a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan sxt with 133,000 miles and since the day we got it back in July all it has done while driving is shut down/shut itself off. Lights on dashboard will come on, flash and van will just shut down. Key refuses to come out at times, have no hazard lights when this happens, and it can take anywhere from 5-30 minutes for the van to even start again. This happens on the interstate and in the city, doesnt matter really where we are, even at stop lights/stop signs.
Remote does not work. To unlock my doors I have to take the key out. I can not use any of the features at all. I do not have$250 to get a remote that is obsurd. !!!!.
I have had my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan for 1 year. First the alternator went out then the key module then the transmission then the shifting harnesses cable and now the lights keep blinking on and off and the van feels like it has no power the battery was just changed a month ago. This has been the worst vehicle ever and we are scared that it is going to cause a deadly accident. The vehicle gets stuck in gears. And and now keeps shutting off and the headlights keep blinking on and off as well as all the lights in the van. If these are know issues why has there not been a total recall on all these vehicles before a deadly accident does happen. Or is it going to take someone to actually die before something is done about all the known issues the makers of these vehicles are aware of.
My van just shut off while doing 55 mph on a highway. No warning signs or check engine lights came on. I had no steering, gas, or breaks when it shut off. The a few days later all the lights on the dash came on then went off but never shut off until a few blocks later when it turned off while driving on a street. And everytime it shuts off I put it in park take the keys out and then restart the van and it acts like nothing ever happened.
While driving the car, the engine shuts off unexpectedly and we lose power steering and brakes. We have to coast to a stop, put it back in park and restart engine and proceed. This happens with no predictability which makes this dangerous. The times that it has happened, the roads have been wet or snow covered. It has also happened on dry roads. Traveling at a high rate of speed makes this a dangerous circumstance. Since it is unpredictable, we are very nervous to take this car on a highway. We have had the car in to shapiro leon motor sales several times and they cannot find anything that comes up on their diagnostics. They did replace the powertrain control module. This did not make a difference. It continued to shut down. There is no rhyme or reason. They have driven it but it did not shut down for them. I got it inane shortly after leaving , it shut down. We know that there was a recall on the ignition switch through June 2010 but our car was manufactured sept 2010. However all the symptoms that are listed on that recall fit our van's problem perfectly. The dealership does not agree a per their testing. This is not something that we can have happen to us while traveling 65 down the interstate. The only thing that shows up on the dash is the traction control when we lose engine power. Please address this problem.
Our 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan stalled 14 times this holiday weekend (more than usual). It stalls at any speed and at any time (warm or cold) and loses all power. Have you ever had to shift a vehicle into neutral at 70 mph and restart it on an expressway in holiday traffic (with no power steering or power brakes)? well it really puts the family in a jolly mood. Dealer claims not to be able to figure it out (because the error codes are not recorded in the vehicle computer since there is no power). Based on all of the exact same complaints I see for this vehicle, it¿s obvious to me that it¿s a totally integrated power module (tipm) issue. Any idiot performing a little research on google can figure it out. However, NHTSA can¿t seem to figure it out. See NHTSA action number: dp14004. Nhtsa ¿ there¿s enough complaints out there to support further investigation. Feel free to contact me if you want to take our rolling death trap for a fun-filled family trip.
Front wheel bearings failed; had them replaced before an accident occurred.
The vehicle continued running after pulled key out of ignition. Problem was with win module which was apparently part of a recall that involved 2006-2010 Grand Caravan models, although somehow my 2010 Grand Caravan isn't included in the recall. The woman at the dealer said it was the third one of the day, but mine was the only one that didn't fall under the recall.
While driving my car it just shuts off on me at random times. I never know when it is going to happen. It has happened 5 times in 2 months. I found a recall online for this same thing but my dealer is telling me they are VIN number specific and my VIN says there is no recall so they won't fix it. Please help me get this so ed before I have an accident and injure myself or someone else. Thanks.
