37 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2021

Got results back from the dealer on my Grand Caravan transmission pump. He said pump failed and burned up transmission. Now I need to replace the whole transmission thanks to Dodge not covering all these vehicles with bad transmission pumps! this recall s44 should of been expanded to cover all vehicles from 2015 to2017 since I see a lot of people on the internet have the same problem and complaints. Dodge should be held liable for all these vehicles that need a new transmission due to the faulty pump!! not just a select few that they deemed worthy of the recall! they cheated the people by not covering all these bad pumps!! let’s hold them accountable for it!!.

38 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2021

Transmission pump failed while driving the vehicle causing me and my handicapped daughter to be stuck on highway. Was able to get vehicle off the road. Vehicle started to make a whining sound then when I had to stop for road construction it started to jerk forward while I was stopped with my foot in the brake. Then when I went to accelerate I had no power to move forward. Rpms would go to 4000 but vehicle would barely move. Once I was able to safely get off highway I had to call for a ride home. I hate to think if this would of happened while I was actually driving the vehicle on the busy highway and not stopped for road construction what might of happened to me and my daughter if someone would of rear ended us while my vehicle stopped moving in fast traffic! got home and I searched for any recalls for my type of vehicle and I seen there was a recall for this problem and the recall number was s44. But when I put my VIN number in it says my vehicle wasn’t covered for this recall. Well obviously it should be covered because of the faulty transmission pump stranding me on the highway. This recall should be extended to more vehicles like mine. I have called Chrysler and I am awaiting any info from them wether they are going to pay for this. The vehicle is a 2015 but only has 56000 miles on it! no way this part should fail with that amount of low miles on it. It should be covered under the recall s44! please let me know what I can do about this if they fail to cover me under this recall. While I’m only assuming this is the problem with the vehicle due to recalls being issued for it I will be taking it to a garage to be fixed but would like to be reimbursed if this is the problem with my vehicle! obviously the recall should of been extended to cover more vehicles than what it did. Once I have proper confirmation for the problem I will be refilling a complaint with all paper work to prove my claim if Chrysler doesn’t pay to fix this!.

42 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2021

I purchased a cpo 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan in February 2020 at around 18,000 miles (cpo warranty up 3-11-22). 18 months later I had to have transmission work done because it was having major issues (they repaired adapter housing and trans cooler line/hoses). 3 months after that I had more transmission work done because the same problems reappeared (they worked on trans pan leak and trans filter change). At this appointment, we asked the dealer that if anything else happens to the transmission around the date of the cpo warranty would a new trans be covered and they said of course. Well 8 days after the warranty expired (3-19-22), the car had to be towed fieldhouse cdjr because the transmission was shot. A new transmission was put after sitting at the dealership for three months and they said that the trans wasn't under warranty and was $4500. I had to open a case with fca (82695547) in order for them to even start work on the van because they didn't touch it until I got in touch with fca. I was told I would pay $1800 and you would pay $2700. Well the dealership charged me $2700 also so they got $5600 total for that $4500 job. I received a check of the difference from fca and that issue was solved. However, the transmission again failed 4 months later in October 2022. I took it back to the same dealership because I thought that's where I had to take it because they just did the install. It sat there for 5 months (2-17-2023) until I opened another case with fca (85204403) and they replaced the transmission again. It was warrantied until February 17, 2025. The transmission was fine until March 10 2025. Less than three weeks after this warranty expired I lost my transmission again. Fca says I have to now pay for diagnosis and purchase extended warranty to get any discounted work even though I’ve had 3 faulty transmissions and now have to purchase a 4th that will also probably only make it to just past the parts warranty.

43 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2021

Car purchased brand new March 2015. February 2021 at approximately 93,000 miles extensive oil leaking damage. Car is leaking oil from the oil filter housing unit including the gaskets around. At this point, the correct part is on back order from Chrysler, per the dealer where purchased the car, I am number 28,000 plus in the line to receive this part. There is no eta for when the part will be available. The van leaks when parked and in drive. I got an oil change end of December 2020 and was down to two quarts of oil in a month time and 1000 miles since oil change. The car is now un driveable and Chrysler is doing nothing to assist with getting a loaner vehicle.

53 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2019

My van was purchased in March of 2015 and it is having the same issue I've read about in NHTSA 16v461000. The engine was running and in gear, it suddenly lost power and sounded like it was in neutral while driving down the highway. We were lucky to get pulled over and avoid an accident.

54 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

Date is approximate. When pulling into an uphill parking spot at my apartment building, the right front tire was on ice and the left front tire was on dry pavement. The right front wheel began to spin and I took my foot off the accelerator and was in the process of moving it to the brake pedal when the traction control slammed on the brakes on the right front wheel. Since the engine was a high rpm due to the spinning right front wheel, when the traction control locked the right front wheel, the vehicle began to accelerate rapidly toward the building. I managed to hit the brake pedal in time, but it could have resulted in an accident or the death of a pedestrian.

55 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2015

Within the first few weeks of driving this leased vehicle, I reported this to the dealer. The problem was that the cruise control was popping out of cruise without any interaction from me. I've reported this every time I went in for a oil change. I have 55,000 miles on this van. So, this has been reported at least 13 times! there was a change in cruise controls after the first report. The second was a reprogram. Thew third was a reprogram. I have a lemon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this year they made me pay a $90. 00 fee for servicing this. I was reimbursed because I called the service manager and complained. But he told me that no work was performed for the problem. Driving highway or side streets at different speeds this will happen 10+ times a day. Now, my transmission has bucked and slipped a few times during the episodes. The cruise control delays (and not stops) but now enough to finally go into a gear that is in between and this clunks into a gear. Not good! I initially wanted to buy this vehicle after my lease ran out. I even placed decals all over the van advertising hurst fresh. I need this dealer that is representing the Dodge to stop giving me the look that I'm wrong in what I'm experiencing. I heard that other recalls from this manufacturer for this cruise control is being taken care of. As for the transmission, this is a true experience. Please help me as I am going to get a lawyer if this doesn't get a recall. I'll never lease another vehicle from both the dealer and maker of this vehicle. Thank you for your service!.

56 Power Train problem

The failure recurred several times. The failure mileage was 20,000. The VIN was not provided.

57 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2015

I bought this van with 13 miles on it. The van shakes/shudders on an incline. This occurs from time to time in drive but is very bad when in reverse. I noticed this first when going up a hill to get out of our neighborhood. I first noticed it in reverse when backing out of my driveway which is a very slight incline. The shuddering occurs each time I go up the hill, near our home. Unless the ground is completely flat or I am backing down an incline, reverse feels like an old stick shift that "trembles" as you back up or accelerate. I did not buy "new" to have issues like this. The van has less than 30 miles on it.
